Interesting observation and question. If we read carefully what the text staes, "the Lord has delivered him into your hands" it appears that God gives David the opportunity again to end Saul’s senseless pursuit for David’s life. However, David sees this as him casting judgement which he regards as the sole responsibility for God. And just because God permits the moment, does not mean he gives explicit instructions to David to seize Saul’s life. There are moments in Scripture when God instructs his servant to render judgement by the sword; however, those situations relate or tied a mistreatment of a people group, i.e 1 Samuel 15. I believe David constantly referring to Saul as the Lord’s anointed keeps in mind the covenant God has with Saul despite Saul’s disobedience

Q: Was David disobedient to God when he didn't "deliver" when God handed Saul over to him multiple times?
