I agree. This is boring, which seems to be the preferred mode of Bridgers & Baker. A slower tempo + warbling vocals ≠ gripping or transcendent.
Also, it sounds like Baker is either playing a slightly different chord progression than Elliott’s original, or maybe just flattened the chords to fit the sparse, uncluttered vibe. Whatever she’s done, it doesn’t take the song anywhere interesting.
Get to swingin’ back the other way, pendulum. Shit is 😴

Yeah, I'm not a fan of this either. Elliott Smith is my favourite artist of all time. I can't stand this current wave of artists covering and slowing down classic songs. There are plenty of slower Elliott Smith songs which could have been covered - or just not bothered. Yawn.
