I just wanted to mention one thing about "Jesus hating religion", I actually thought that at one stage but a good friend did correct me on it and I'm thankful to be honest, the bible does say that proper good religion is pleasing to him, Jesus himself did follow Judaism, celebrating the high holy days and keeping the Sabbath etc, the issue is with highly religious types, they go too far, create extra laws that are not allowed and not sanctioned by God himself and taint the joy of religion, when people talk about "relationship not religion" that is unfortunately one of those fake western Christian thingies we need to be cautious with and is definitely not biblical, I also have a huge problem knowing when to end sentences which you may have noticed.

I once read 1984 by Orwell, and I've listened to the audio adaptation on audible! I resonate with what you said about turning off the analytical part of my brain. I'm going through a similar experience at the moment reading "how green was my valley" from a history perspective. There's a similar aspect of show not tell in this book as well as it looks at the industrialisation of the south Wales valleys. I think it's set in the early 1900s as well. ( You're verging on a whole discussion of political ideologies as well Lydia - and how they intersect with our faith. I really enjoyed your review of Animal farm for this!)😊

I think there's a huge problem with books like 'Not Yet Married' which is obvious just from the title: Singleness is not always for a season only, and Christian singles need not identify themselves by what they are not, or view themselves as somehow "not yet enough" because marriage is seen as the goal. I highly recommend "Singled Out" by Christine Colon and Bonnie Field, and I'm currently reading "The Meaning of Singleness" by Danielle Treweek, which is good so far, too.

But Segal addresses all that you’ve mentioned in his book. He’s encompassing of all groups and provides a solid biblical perspective. God Bless you!
Additionally, the title ‘Not Yet Married’ addresses what I mention about when you’re dating, you aren’t married and it’s important to realise the two of you potentially may never get married. It’s a super helpful mindset as I mention in the video!
