To make this painting I used:
Arches 100% cotton rag watercolor paper: shrsl.com/3t249
If you do wet on wet I strongly encourage cotton rag paper. If you're a student learning or on a budget watercolor paper works okay but you'll notice there is a very fine limit to how much water and reworking before the paper becomes damaged and starts to shed layers. Cotton rag paper can handle a lot more and is the ideal watercolor surface.
