In our quest for seeking out a more healthy and sustainable lifestyle, we made a plan that includes zero waste living, tiny home living and full-time travel. We considered buying an RV, looked at trailers and airstreams but settled on doing a bus conversion for our off the grid, tiny house on wheels. We bought a 1996 MCI 102 D3 coach bus and with the Bus Demolition and Interior Shell complete, now we turn it into our Tiny Home on Wheels!

In its previous life, our MCI bus was used as a school bus, although we don't think we can legitimately call it a skoolie. We are confident that converting our bus into a class a motor home will have challenges, but doing a massive overhaul and remodel on a motorhome / RV remodel didn’t seem to align with the off grid bus life we were aiming for.
In Season 4 we share the interior build as we turn it into our home.

Goodness, that drive! Don looked like he was ready to quit after about 10 miuntes.
Oh yeah we were having some serious doubts about that road! It helped that there was nowhere to turn around for the first 3/4's or more🤣
The Paradise!!!!
Beautiful Eleuthera! I adore your beach cover up! Would you mind sharing where you got it?
Looks absolutely amazing!🌊
I'm sure a lot of the roads and beaches are under water every time a hurricane comes through . The only thing that will remain are the rocks natural rip rap, and and I'm sure that it would also chew up any pavement too
Very true
OMG! It's beautiful in the Bahamas and the road to you had to take to get there looks about as bad as the roads here in Texas. I hope you both enjoyed your trip.
Lighthouse is a treasure,,,been there about 5 times...put a hole in my radiator one of the times....Disney has closed the road now so you have to walk the last few miles if you wanna get there,,,,
Oh what a beautiful place and I gotta say it's better than Walt Disney world, you and Don should have purchased a metal detector as I'll bet you'll find a bunch of Spanish gold coins laying underneath all that sand.
Hope you both are having a grand time as I wish I were there as well,it's so breath taking.
👍
I love that you taking a break but we are here for the bus build I will tune back in when your back in the bus peace
I'm glad you enjoy the bus build Anthony. People are here for different reasons, and the bus build is only a part of this channel. We'll be back in the bus soon and then we will be traveling and making travel videos in the bus. We are not an all bus channel.
I love you guys don’t take my comments to personal I just love when you guys are working on the bus that’s all I love to see the progress I been watching since the beginning and I can’t wait til it’s finished I’m going to continue watching all travel videos also I love your mom and dad too they are awesome I wish I had a dad that talented happy vacation I just been patiently waiting for more bus videos keep up the good work and I’m still watching 😀😀👍🏾👍🏾🌹😀

@@Rehabit8 Don and Mel are the best spread the word
Nice closing shot, but I regret, totally out of focus!
😁 I was wandering if they're going to mix it in. Having a beach all to yourselves and not doing some skinny dipping ... impossible to resist!
Name your bus the Lighthouse in memory of the beautiful bay
To those complaining about this not being a bus build video:
I made the same remark to myself during last episode, but then realized: this whole bus build is just the intro to their new life. Once the bus build is completed will we then just stop watching? Oh no, definitely not. Then the real journey begins: a whole new life living in a bus, touring around. From beach to beach, season after season ;-)
Since then I look at the bus build as the pilot episode of their new life in that bus. Hoping for you to find the right piece of driftwood. Enjoy your vacation.
The camera just lost focus at the right moment ;-)
EDIT: So, what about the scratches on the car, did you get in trouble?
Perfectly said graphix! The bus build is only the pilot episode! We didn't get into any trouble for the scratches! Lol we worked on a little area and they seemed to buff out so we figured it would be ok. There were LOTS of scratches though, but thankfully nothing deep enough. We apologized for how dirty the car was when we dropped it off and they said no worries they expect it.
That was a very rough drive but the end result was spectacular, the place where you parked was beautiful but that clear water swim you had was heavenly, I liked the bench facing the ocean where you can sit and admire the beautiful scenery, I think you should have packed me in your suitcase, lol. You have opened our Eyes to a very beautiful island that I had never heard of before but I will remember it for the rest of my life
Love this!
Wow awesomely beautiful :)
👍👍
I've read that there's a tour firm that will drive you to Lighthouse Point, guide you around, fix a lunch over a fire, and provide rum punch. And the price is very reasonable, if I'm reading it correctly. Seeing your drive down convinced me not to do it myself...maybe the tour is our answer. I've really enjoyed your very practical descriptions, and you're both very great people to follow. Thanks for taking us along!
Okay, I went back and I'm starting to watch your videos from the beginning, but had to skip ahead and watch this beach video. Amazing clear water and very beautiful! Sorry, I probably laughed a little harder that I should have when that wave wiped our Mela! Hope you weren't hurt, but that was funny!
Once again thanks for showing us around the beautiful island, and wow the beaches are so perfect, hope your both having fun
You are so welcome
I came for the Bus Build, then stayed for the "one bite at a time!!", and of course the two of you. I actually binged watched this series and am loving it! Been through the ups and downs with ya, and have enjoyed this series so much! Thanks for sharing a part of your life with us all. Safe travels! :)
Thanks Kathleen! So happy to share with you
Beautiful beach! Too bad Disney is going to destroy it….
Beautiful video, great job. We are going to Eleuthera at the end of December for 10 days, which month did you guys visit Eleuthera? Any problems with sand flys? Or mosquitos bites?
Thanks you again for share this amazing video.
You are welcome! We were there around January/February. Yes lots of mosquitoes! My legs were covered in bites. Don had a few. We didn’t experience many sand flies so on the beach I had no problems. It’s just something you have to deal with in paradise 😉
Absolutely beautiful!!!
Thought this was about a bus build, not a trip to the beach.
Just decided to go to the Eleuthera Tours page that I was describing below, and saw this message: ** Note: Disney has purchased this property to create a private cruise ship port for themselves. Road access is now blocked. It MAY become available after April 15. We will update as we know ** Well, great.
We heard rumors that Disney was buying land but didn’t know they would be closing the road! On the south east coast Princess Cruise line has purchased a large area as well and when the ship pulls up it looks like it is docked right in the island. I hope the lighthouse beach will still be accessible for other visitor eventually
When you said: 2 hours drive (Including all the stops inbertween) Like I call, Going nowhere slowly. He Lighthouse beach is Magic. Perfect hideaway. Regards
Pure magic!
I would be sure to keep that road as questionable as possible if I lived there just to keep that spot all to myself! THANK YOU BOTH SO VERY MUCH for allowing us a peak into your beautiful world. I hope you enjoyed every moment & feel rejuvenated & ready to tackle the last phase of your build! I get more & more excited the closer you get but sad just the same that it will come to an end. I know there will be great journeys after the build but it's like seeing your children pull out of the driveway leaving to take on the world! If that makes sense. I have been here anticipating each video & will continue watching cheering you on as you make your dreams come true. Thanks. 💞
Thanks for all your support Melissa! The best hidden spots are always hard to get to right!
thanks for sharing your trip to Eleuthera! how many days did you stay? I'm thinking about spending a month there and just seeing things in leisure.
You are welcome! We spent about 2 weeks there and could easily have spent more time
@@Rehabit8 wonderful! thanks for the reply!
Bonjour je vous regarderais plutard
Thank you.
Hi you two, I’ve been in the hospital and now I’m in a convalescent place? I fell, broke a few things in my leg. I’m having hard time with the pain. I can’t take it anymore, I hope I don’t mess this up. I’m afraid, but this pain it too much.
Enjoy your lives together, keep smiling, laughing and most of all LOVING each other.
Good night all, Sally.
Sorry, I just couldn’t do it. Sally

What is the total population of the island??? Were you there at the top tourist period???
Under 20,000. Yes I think the US winter is their peak tourist season (and not hurricane season)
Why did you pick this location to vacation???
The great weather, the beautiful untouched beaches, the low population, easy to fly to for us, the gorgeous water….
What time ofnyear did u go & who did u rent yiur car from? Thanks great video!!
Also did u get car ins & did u have to pay for any damage to the car? Thanks in advance
it was January or February. I think the rental company was Lutra rent a car. It's been a few years now so I don't remember for sure. We mostly likely had insurance and no we didn't have to pay for any damages. I'm pretty sure the scratches could be easily buffed out.
14:58 super s̶o̶l̶i̶d smooth
😂
I'm living life vicariously through you both! Thank you for another sunny getaway from this cold, windy weather we are experiencing in Europe lately.
I'm so glad you enjoyed it!
That bus aint gonna build itself while you're off on holiday.
