- Welcome to join me as we discover a small Icelandic town between the steep mountains of Eyjafjörður. My older videos of similar kind will all be updated soon but with drone footage and a voiceover since I'm changing my approach to this part of my channel. I will more and less make a mini documentary from each and every Icelandic town in the coming years.

Tribe of 1000 looks good to me! 🌸
And it's a good tribe, a bit weird but good people and that's what matters :)
OMGOSH you are such a talented story teller. So funny 😹
Thanks a lot :)
Your sense of humor is charming!
Thanks :)
I love it (the video and the country)
Thanks :)
Thank you👍 I really enjoy your videos and storytelling. From Australia
Thanks for watching 👍 and greetings to Australia :)
Hello fellow Aussie! These are magical videos! I really want to go to Iceland one day 😊
Even the animals look happy… Beautiful scenery there… The sun view was spectacular… wow, thank you for the morning updates…
Welcome :)
Yes i do enjoy your presentations. Thank you🔆
Glad you like them!
I love your videos
Thanks a lot, just starting :)
Beautiful. I enjoy travelling via video to Iceland very much. Such a beauty place. Clean and nice on my eyes. Thanks
Thanks and enjoy :)
Thanks for this informative peek at the Icelandic countryside; you should work for the tourist-board ;-)
Heheh, the tourist board would censor me :) and I would start to sound like them :) we don't won't that :)
hahaha so funny 'the weather is always great in Northern Iceland' I remember quite al lot of clouds and fog and drizzling rain when I stayed in Olafsfjordur. Hope to be there again next year. I the four times I visited Iceland I never went to Reykjavik. Because I come by ferry in Seydisfjordur it is easy to avoid. I like Akureyri. Next time I definitely visit the Christmas shop.
Beautiful photography gives a real sense of the land.
Thank you :)
Excellent.....and that is not a lie.
Thanks :) and it's not a lie :)
@@JustIcelandic LOL
Spectacular scenery! What a lovely place to be. Many thanks for sharing your videos. Best wishes from a very wet Herefordshire, U.K.
Many thanks!
Ummmm I am in love 😍 with Iceland xxxx
Hahaha, Welcome to Iceland :)
Thanks for the stunning video. Is there an active forestation program there? Those craft decorations remind me of my grandmother, she was from Norway...very nostalgic. Given how long it's dark there, why hasn't Iceland's population grown faster? Cheers.
I have a video in the making about our forests :) online in few weeks..but I can't answer about the population growth, maybe so dark that we can't find each other :)
Good Afternoon, Gylfi, greetings from London. I read a wee while ago that Icelanders are the happiest people on earth, it is hardly surprising, thriving amongst the most beautiful country on the Planet. Wonderful footage, thank you for sharing.
Welcome :)
Beautiful country... very interesting commentary. Thank you!
Thank you too!
LOL 😆 Farmhouse sweaters look like a pretty good deal. 🤩
Yes...truly home made :)
I really want to go there, do some Christmas shopping, have a cup of coffee while watching the cows, then sit down by the water and watch the birds. A perfect day in my eyes :)
This is the right place :) wonderful fjord
You got me, next year I'll stop there!
Welcome :)
Beautiful region and so much to see and do. I visited Hrísey last year during summer and the mountains were still covered with snow. I agree about the newly constructed buildings in Reykjavik (and most of Iceland). Many of them are just plain gray boxes. They could do much more to make it look attractive and stick a bit more to the traditional style, or at least use some colors and different materials. A good example is the newly constructed centre of Selfoss Miðbær. You should make a video about it, it's so refreshing to see this in Iceland!
Yes Selfoss did it the right way :) totally agree... and thanks for stopping by on my channel :)
Really enjoying this kind of background information about the region and its people, thank you!
Glad you enjoyed it!
Looks like a really nice town, in a beautiful area.
Welcome :)
I agree with you about the beauty of your region.
Thanks :)
What a beautiful place to live!
It really is!
What a beautiful place. Stay safe.
Thank you, I will
Cycling path a great idea. Death by bike on Icelandic highways. Thanks for the tour, another place to visit. For a future video maybe a visit to Siglufjörður? Jonasson fan in the house.
Yes I have most of the shots I need from Siglufjörður and will do it after I stop by there with the drone :)
@@JustIcelandic Excellent!
Thank you. As a person from the Arctic, I appreciate your perspective of the northern part of your country. One of my dreams is to visit all Arctic countries to see and experience their cultures and land.
👍 Thank you and welcome to Iceland :)
Very interesting and I love the cowshed webcam 😊👍
Glad you like it, something different for sure 👍
Beautiful thank you for sharing
Thank you! Cheers!
A fine georaphical resource you are building here Gylfi. 👍
I didn't plan to :) just happened :)
Thanks for this view of a part of Iceland most of us foreigners never get to see. Much appreciated.
We drove around Trollaskagi in February 2020 just before the world changed and it was incredible! Untouched blinding white snow, immense mountains and the deepest blue seas and skies I have ever seen. I don’t think we saw anyone for hours until we came round the northern tip and down into Siglufjörður - which I fell completely in love with - I’d be quite happy to live there even in the middle of winter. Do they need a British teacher?
I would just contact them :) but Siglufjörður is a sample of how to do things in those small towns, I drop by there every now and then and shoot some footage there last summer to remake my Siglufjörður video, it's a good place...
These are my favourite kinds of videos on your channel. A bike path by the road, now THATS a new idea! ;)
I'm starting to re-do the first series I made for the channel but you have been here for so long that you know how this developed from the hood of my car :) so I'm starting with the easiest towns, finding my way of doing this and gradually making a strong information site for visitor and others :)
Back in my home state of California, we grew up with a “Santa’s Village” - open year-round. A fun little tourist attraction back in the day. I’m looking forward to seeing the one in Iceland someday!
Are you talking about the one that was in the mountains outside Santa Cruz?
Welcome to Iceland :)
Not sure how I missed this one. It really is a nice country. Maybe it’s a good thing most people don’t know how nice or they’d all want to move there!
Yes we are 375.000 here In Iceland now :)
What a beautiful and tranquil place!
I would be very tempted to live in this area.
The air looks so fresh that I found myself taking a deep breath 😀
Wonderful video!
Thank you 😊
😀 welcome :)
Our tour guide Adolph was also from Akyureri. We stayed one night in that town.
Hope you had a good time here :)
@@JustIcelandic i loved it. I’ve been twice.
Wonderful! That is not a lie.
Welcome :)
7:27 lemonade at 1200 crowns?? herregud!!!
Yes...I will make a video about pricing in Iceland in future...I know to much in that department :)
Thank you for the effort. It is much appreciated.
My pleasure!
I love watching your videos & seeing & hearing about Iceland. It is one place I hope to visit. I think it will be quite different to where I live in South Australia where most of the state is desert 😊
I'm very glad I found your channel 🙏 🇦🇺💓🇮🇸
💓🇮🇸 thanks a lot :) way more to come :)
@@JustIcelandic can't wait!! 😊
I'm going out to document my country I will see you in one million years as I live in 🇦🇺🇦🇺 Australia 👍😄
10:20 I laughed loudly
👍😄 welcome and greetings from Iceland
Trees!
Yes and I will show you even more of them soon :)
Beautiful scenery and storytelling, from what I could understand - there was no sub-titles available today. I live in HULL, England and I remember years ago we had Icelandic cargo ships that visited often and also the cod wars episode. At one time Hull was the 3rd largest fishing port in the world, but that has all gone now.
beautiful!
Thank you!
Very well made
Thank you!
@@JustIcelandic you're more than welcome. I find that you have a way of narrating your videos which is soothing and informative. So, I'm quite happy watching your videos. Looking forward for more.
What a beautiful town, with such a small population what is the main source of income?and do much fishing there?
It's the school, retail service and many work in Akureyri, 10 min drive :)
What a neat little town! So much character :) I really like these videos. But yes, here in Canada I've noticed those ugly type houses going up as well. All the new modern stuff is all squares. So sad.
As a side question, what is the time it takes to go from Akureyri to Reykjavik? Is it quite a long trip?
Thanks for stopping by but it's around 4hr drive Rek-Akureyri and 30 min flight :)
You drive on the other side of the road to me 🚗 🚙
I can actually say the same :)
.❤.
❤
So first they build a settlement along a road just to move the road not that much later. Makes total sense to me!
Also I'm a little bit disappointed that you set up a timelapse through Akureyri but cut it way too short to spot the most important easteregg you can place while driving through that lovely town :-(
Hi and welcome...just type Akureyri in the search box in my channel and it's lots of Akureyri vids there but I wanted this one to be dedicated to Hrafnagil so this was just a fast tour :)
😂 Mowing the snow....haven't tried that...wonder if it works better than the shovel and snow scoop....
We are optimistic, even during cold springs :)
Please leave your labels, names on screen longer, thank you. Great video.
Love your videos but you FORGOT TO TURN-ON #ClosedCaptions for this video.
Some phrases are not clear. Especially the Icelandic words & names. THANKS 🙏🏼
I am coming to Iceland in July on a cruise ship and we have one day in Akureyri will you be doing tours of the area at that time.. if so how do I contact you directly.
This is so far away for me to answer now since I don't plan to stay here in Akureyri for much longer :) but my email is my channels name @gmail and just check when it's closer and I'm sure I can work something out :) And welcome to Iceland :)
Do you have some videos about places where the people think elfs lives?
I have one in the making...online in few weeks but it's a quite long video, covering many angles...
@@JustIcelandic Will be happy to see that Video!🤩🤩🤩
So…. How did buying a sweater end up with this guy having this girl make out with the side of his head ??? Is buying a wool sweater code for something ? 🤷🏻♂️🤷🏻♂️🤷🏻♂️
