the kenpachi vs tousen and komamura doesnt really give you an idea of how strong ichigo is, it actually shows you how strong kenpachi is, until you see the new arc you wont understand it.
There doesn't seem to be an official answer as to how Ichigo stopped the Sokyoku. My take on it is that it uses just enough power to kill the person it's targeting. As Ichigo is stronger than Rukia, he was able to stop the attack meant for her.

[Tidbits and Clarifications]
- Kenpachi and Ichigo are special cases so it hard to use them to compare, however it's important to remember that Kenpachi was holding back for most of his fight with Ichigo, so honestly Ichigo really isn't above most captains...he simply got lucky to run into to someone who was crazy enough to let him get an advantage.
- The Sokyoku ritual spear is only said to be as powerful as 1million blades, it's not a proven thing, and if you notice how most of the Captains reacted, they weren't shocked that it was possible, they're more surprised that a Random Ryoka was capable of doing it. You can assume that any Captain Class Fighter could also block it.
- Not every Captain is on Rukia's Side and the few who are are 100% doing it for her. 1 Captain is dead, Gin is off plotting something, Tosen & Komamura are against stopping the execution, Kenpachi is only helping so he can find and fight Ichigo, Toshiro, Shunsui, and Rukia's Captain are helping only because they know something off, Soi Fon, Mayuri, Byakuya, and Unohana are all following orders.
(long story short only 4 of the 13 are helping Ichigo and friends)

Even though I saw this episode dosen of times, I was tearing up just like Stephanie when Ichigo saved Rukia!
Still blows my mind seeing Ichigos growth. The fact he is holding back a weapon equal to 1 million zanpakuto with 1 hand behind his back is insane. Glad to see you guys enjoying it as much I did when I was kid.

One of the most Awesome moments in anime
The ways to become a captain makes sense if you think about it....1. By being recommended by 2 captains and the head captain requires a great amount of skills. 2. By passing the academy like at least 3 of the captain require mastery of most forms of fighting. 3. Killing a captain with that amount of witness, you are certain there are no dirty business and requires insane powers ! All 3 way, you have powerful individuals that can do the job !
SO the sokyoku has the power of a million zampakuto but it wasn't using all the power of one mil zampakuto bc it would be more overkill than the execution already was, that is why it Ichigo was able to stop and that is why he wouldn't be able to stop the 2nd attack, bc it would have used more power, just enough to kill Ichigo

He still blew up the execution post, and the execution post supposedly has enough defense to survive the sokyoky using its full power.
Bleach has so many great moments but Ichigo saving Rukia and destroying the Sokyuoku is still my favorite moment in the series. Dope reaction guys can't wait till you catch up.

Keep in mind its no easy feat stopping the sokyoku, even though no one can stop it once it pierces the soul reaper because it releases its power tenfold, you cant deny that stopping a million zanpakuto is no easy feat and imo still one of the best moments in bleach

I swear, weither it's shikai or bankai, the reveal of a new one in Bleach is always an event ! There are not too many other anime you have the same feeling in a reveal...maybe the stand in Jojo or quirk in My hero academia... You have 2 pretty fun bankai here too !!

I don't think the first charge of the Sokyoku was in full force because it was able to push Ichigo before charging against him again.

Hello again! Here i am, to comment some info))) first about Sokyoku (phoneix execution weapon) - i think saying that "it have a power of million zanpakuto" isnt really true - it was just "famed" that way to scare people. The shield thing that Rukia captian (Ukitake) brought is s special sealing device owned by the Yoruichi clan, one of 4 clans of nobles/ Kuchiki is another one of them. And the second point - now u can see the difference between captains. Kenpachi is a very good example cause he is close to middle ground in the terms of power, around the same way as Byakuya, but they have their own strong and weak sides (like Kenpachi unable to use zanpakuto release and kido (the magic)). Tousen (blind captain) and Komamura (the dog captain (yes he is a dog) ) are below them, but not so much. Their problem mostly is some major weakness in their Bankai. Only captains who is technically the lowest is Hitsugaya (cause of young age - he is kinda unexperienced, but actually strong) and Soi Fong (2nd Squad captain, ninja-like lady with fat guy as lietenant) - her reasons is pretty much the same. Mayuri (science captain who fought with Ishida) are somewhere around Tousen and Komamura level. But all of them still relatively young by the shinigami standards (as far as i remember no one of them hit 500 years), therefore their powerspikes is ahead. Not to compare to someone like Yamamoto (1st Squad General Commander) - who is at least 3000 years old.

I really hated that they did Sasakibe (1st squad Leutenant) so dirty. Later in the manga he is proven to be stronger than most captains. Ichigo should not have been able to one-shot him so easily.
Yeah, but in his defense just after he got punched byakuya came to fight ichigo, so sasakibe didn't have time or a reason to interfere.

Ichigo could only stop the Sōkyoku cuz it was adjusted for rukia's level of spiritual pressure.
Man. I moved on from bleach many years ago but the memories of these early SS episodes still get my teary eyed and nostalgic of the mid 2000s. I love ichruki

Komamura is something called a wolfman so he’s basically a bipedal werewolf who’s still humanoid in his appearance except his fur, ears, fangs, snout and eyes.
Ukitake (Rukia’s captain) and Shunsui (flower kimono) are also best friends so of course they’d help each other other 😊
They’re both two of my favorites because they’re more laid back and doesn’t want to fight right away unlike some of the other captains

On my first watch-through, I held some reservations that Gin was going to be an obvious set-up red herring... until that scene on the bridge, when he gave Rukia just enough hope for her to want to live again, after spending nearly a month coming to terms with her fate.

Flash Step is common upon every Soul Reaper but the Speeds is what that is different, Byakuya is probably has the 3rd Fastest Flash Step, Yoruichi comes in 2nd and Yamamoto (Head Captain) takes 1st Place. Yet again I won't recommend believing this fact as it's from my opinion and perspective when i watched the entire show.

Kenpachi, Defeats a captain without shikai, bankai, sight, hearing, or all senses. Fighting another captain
The spear has the strength of a million fodder zanpacto, and before it executes it's target, its stated in a data book that its power increases dozen of times over, so anywhere from 12-96 times. Most, if not all the Captains would be able to do the same thing at this point. It's still really impressive, but very consistent with the overall powerscaling of Bleach

Me: Has that stopped Renji, Ichigo, Kenpachi, or Yoruichi? Not to mention that Byakuya is by far the strongest Captain that we've encountered thus far, and most Captains aren't present. If ichigo can "defeat" Kenpachi, Byakuya can defeat a couple Captains, and save his sister.
