As a Canadian, the current state of affairs here is an open sewer, we had a fine country, until the ultra left mentality. The woke stance requires an absolute lack of wisdom, so is very appealing to the lazy, who have never actually had to depend upon or face the consequences of the decisions they make.

I used to consider myself left of centre if I had to put a political label on my ideology. That said, although I have never been a political animal, these past couple of years have changed that. Our PM has lit a fire in my belly that is driving me to fight for my Charter Rights (capital R) and for my fellow Canadians, even for the woke ideologs who have no idea what freedoms they are putting at risk with their support of unfounded and unproven leftist ideals. In my opinion there's a trend in several countries but especially in Canada, where cultural leftism has been grandfathered into the national identity/patriotism. Lately our chosen national identity seems to be "American but if only blue states existed", and the American left echos this back at us with jokes about moving to Canada. We have basically become more like an ideological sandbox than an actual country. For example, every time there's a mass shooting in America, it's Canada that further tightens its gun laws
And then I think a similar thing is happening in New Zealand whose identity wrapped up in not being Australian, and in Scotland whose identity is wrapped up in not being English. It's very difficult for conservatives to pushback on anything, because it can be accused/implied of being unpatriotic.

The pendulum swings as a normal aspect of culture. However, the Left has been working at infecting Western cultures since the mid-19th century, at least. The swings we see also contain a kind of generational drift. Christianity isn't what it used to be because of many factors, including increased wealth, and a real influence toward liberalization, for example. In America, where in the 1960s, people used to get up early on Sundays and go to church dressed formally, "in their Sunday Best," people now show up for a ten o'clock service in casual wear. Replacing the organ, are electric guitars and "Christian Rock." The congregations are far more political than they used to be. Piety has similarly changed radically. A Christian will use foul language and gestures and think it is well within the realm of allowance since they are supporting their brand. Over the long span, the spiral continues to descend.

His description of Canada's Overton Window frankly sounds no different from the UK and we seem to be in exactly the same level of "wokeness" and what is considered taboo. Personally I think the Bumboy election of 1997 accelerated it here, Canada was merely 18 years behind us.
I'd be interested to hear a take on New Zealand as well which seems to have identical problems to what we describe of Canada today. Is NZ cucked or is there hope in opposition?

Interesting, or is it ? I'd wager that if one goes to the rougher parts of town, the parts where the Telegraph or Guardian is not on the reading list, the whole argument put forward here would seem like a fantasy. Now it may well be the case that those who consider themselves fit to lead in the future, would be fully onboard with the 'Woke' argument, or dogma. Trouble is, what do they do when they find that 60% of the population they would despise, strongly disagree with the world-view being pushed ? History shows that such situations have poor outcomes for utopians.

If the Left wins the culture war, Britain's future could look very similar to that of Canada. Canada is known for its progressive and woke identity, seen through its commitment to social justice, multiculturalism, and environmental responsibility. This outlook is also mirrored in Canadian politics, where the Liberal and NDP parties have held power for much of the last two decades.
In Canada, government policies have promoted progressive causes such as gender equality, Indigenous rights, LGBTQ+ rights, and open immigration policies. These issues are seen as core values in Canadian society and are reflected in its laws. For example, Prime Minister Justin Trudeau has passed legislation to promote diversity within the public service and to prioritize Indigenous issues such as reconciliation with Indigenous communities. The country also boasts a comprehensive welfare system which provides universal healthcare coverage and other social services to all citizens regardless of their income level or background. Additionally, Canada has adopted a zero-tolerance policy regarding hate speech or discrimination.
Additionally, Canada has increasingly embraced multiculturalism as part of its national identity. With over 200 ethnic origins represented by Canadians today and 25% identifying themselves as belonging to visible minority groups - compared to 12% in Britain - this is clearly reflected in the population demographics and government policies. For example, Trudeau's government has made significant efforts to foster diversity through programs like the Canadian Multiculturalism Act, which promotes understanding between different cultures and celebrates cultural differences within Canada's population.
Furthermore, environmental protection is also a core value upheld by Canadians. It's estimated that 42% of Canadians believe climate change is one of the most critical issues facing their country - compared to 30% in Britain - with many taking steps such as reducing personal carbon footprints or engaging in eco-friendly activities like biking or walking instead of driving wherever possible. Government initiatives such as investing heavily in green energy technology research or enacting specific emissions targets are also indicative of this commitment towards protecting the environment from ongoing anthropogenic climate change effects.
In conclusion, then, if the Left wins the culture war in Britain, they would likely move towards more progressive values similar to those promoted in Canada today - including social justice principles; multiculturalism; open immigration policies; a comprehensive welfare system; zero-tolerance for hate speech; prioritization of Indigenous issues; increased emphasis on sustainability; and more substantial commitments towards combating climate change - leading Britain down a path closer towards Canadian ideals than ever before.

@@bcanuck I don't doubt that prioritization of indigenous issues in Britain would be excellent, however there are several key steps that must be taken in order to ensure effectiveness. First and foremost, the British government must invest more resources into indigenous communities, such as providing basic services related to health, education, and infrastructure. In addition, policies should be implemented to promote economic development for these communities so they can benefit from economic opportunities. Additionally, the legal system should be reformed to ensure that indigenous people are treated fairly and justly by government institutions. Furthermore, there should also be an effort to raise awareness about indigenous issues as well as creating a platform for dialogue between indigenous people and those outside of their communities. Finally, British authorities should do what is necessary to properly address historical injustices perpetrated against Indigenous people so that all citizens have access to equal rights and opportunities. With these steps taken seriously, it is clear why prioritizing Indigenous issues in Britain would be of great benefit not only for them but also for the nation as a whole.

Despite that, though, Trump ... he's off my chart. While I admit that the media wronged him during his tenure and his actual policies were somehow not terrible, still his behavior during the election and his myopic destructive approach now to any Democratic proposals blocking the functioning of the American legislative process...
