My favorite thing was when the villain Spike who killed Norman’s father does the cliche villain thing of saying “You can't kill me! If you do, you'll be no better than me!” Instead of letting Spike go, Norman chucks him off a cliff “I can live with that.” Bad ass.
I remember this show blowing away my expectations when I was a kid, only to leave me absolutely mortified by the 2 part finale. As much as I'd love a reboot, I don't think modern day story tellers or studios have what it takes to deliver the show we want in a satisfying way
When this came out, I was "growing out of" these style of cartoons. But, GOT DAYUM IT, Mighty Max and Dark Wing Duck told me to sit my azz down and see something.
The ninja turtle sets were awesome, just as good with all the small parts and pieces, I always looked for the moving parts, open areas (like little platforms, encased areas, etc) and how many characters and monsters it included. The tmnt sets had moving arms and legs as well.... Ahhhh..... childhood was gone a long time ago lol. I'm 39
I loved this cartoon! Reading all these comments from others who've not forgotten about those gem is amazing. I think most of us in this thread will agree the 80s and 90s had the best cartoons.
MM was great. I'm almost 40 and have been writing since highschool. I still distinctly remember multiple episodes plot lines to this day. That's how well put together a lot of these were. I had a ton of the miniature playsets and even got "packs" of Xtra monster's & minions lol.
Mighty Max! Mighty Max...!!! The Doom Zones, Horror Heads, Battle Warriors and the other mini playsets were fun to play with. The cartoon series was a great watch. I'm hoping we'll see The Mighty One make a return, and the toys make a come back!
@@TheNextFiles288True, unless their parents decide to enrich the imagination of their children. But I know some people have made their own custom figures of the original heroes. And at least other person has given several of the playsets a custom paint job that looks great! It would be good to see Mattel produce even a few of the characters, but who knows if they're even interested in making them.
A FANTASTIC show. Absolutely amazing. Super 90s and really pushed the edge of what it covered. Death and violence was treated with gravitas in several episodes, like the Maxnificent Seven and especially the Axeman Cometh, made it really stand out. Similar to its contemporaries Phantom 2040, Exo Squad, and Skeleton Warriors. And, of course, Tim Curry and Tony Jay, as ever, make a terrific combination.
I was 18-20 or something like that when this show aired, and my friends and I loved this tv show! Norm was such a character. “I was Thor once.” -Norman
Lol I got mine taken away and pissed my parents off to come to the school and get them. Only to bring them back to school so my friends and I can trade, borrow, and show! Good times😊 Oh, and Lego characters
I'm going to go out on a limb here and say that this was one the darkest kid's show of the 90's and probably in the top ten of all time. For crying out loud they had an episode that begun with (albeit off screen) a guy getting hacked to death with a chainsaw
The sound design on this show was really memorable. Great voice acting, effects, and music that sold the adventure horror themes and let the stories shine. The cap was a great gimmick because it was a very open ended play concept that kids could participate with in their own imagination scenarios, even if they didn't have the more niche pocket toys.
Ah yes the boy version of Polly Pocket was such a great cartoon.. And the blonde girl he was obsessed with was a dead ringer for Polly Pocket. That was always a humorous easter egg to me
Thanks for tackling this awesome bad ass cartoon MV! This show was much more than just a toy line. I could care less about the toys. This cartoon had some very dark episodes that would never would see the light of day in this day an age. I would love for someone to make a Blu ray, Hi Def version of this series. I would buy it instantly. Please...someone make it happen!
My mother introduced me to Horror with these toys. It became one of the few things we could bond over until she died. If it wasn't for Mighty Max, I never would've been brave enough to read my mom's Creepshow comic or Stephen King books 🤣
I absolutely loved this show. I was too old at the time for the toys, but was highly entertained with this show. Hopefully we’ll see a return come to fruition. Those were fun adventures with an awesome concept. It spoke to the intellectual metalhead within me as well.
I started watching it in the mornings before school, probably 13ish, too old for the toys but the show was awesome. I recognized the voice actors, quite impressed with who they got for a glorified toy commercial which wound up being one of my favorite cartoons of all time. We still quote Norman daily. Nothing like that show since.
@@Unique2U05 you know this debate has been going on from the time of jesus in fact they asked him if a woman was to die after being married with 7 different men who would she belong to. Jesus said Male and female sex doesn't exist in heaven so this isn't something knew and even jesus answered it for us. Not sure why conservatives are so fearful of stuff like that. Put it this way how does a fictional character affect you if its more boyish or girlish? I get that there are feminists tha go to far (example who said that a bomb is Male or female) but the rest of the stuff I don't see how that affects us everyday people and again I go with jesus already being asked about gender stuff and he said a soul isn't male or female.
For some reason, when I was a kid, they would air children's programming early in the morning. I loved catching some mindless toons before school. Also the toys were sick AF
I wonder what it be like if Mighty Max had a reboot of he’s on ? Imagine if the reboot adventures on the lessons they would learn if it was on Netflix or on neither Nickelodeon, Disney or Cartoon Network for that matter.
I was and still am a fan of the Mighty Max series. Norman in particular was my favorite character, and skull master is one of my favorite roles of Tim Curry. I honestly wished that Mighty Max had a proper conclusion to its series.
This show was one of my favorites in the morning. But man, had anyone ever read up on the original toy descriptions from the back of the toy’s packaging? I read up on it years ago and it was wild, originally Max was like five and when he put the hat on he ended up in Hell! Also there was no Vergil, no Norman, Max was on his own!
The fact that this show still doesn't have a DVD box set is inexcusable. I'd be willing to buy it on bootleg if one exists with decent sound/picture quite. A reboot of this show would be awesome if done by Netflix, considering what Netflix did with He-man Revelations. This show was great and really captured where us Gen-Xers were at that time. RIP to Richard Moll aka Norman the Barbarian
Mighty Max was the show that taught me to never judge a show without actually watching it first. The title sounded lame and how good could it be since it’s based on the “boy version” of Polly Pocket? After watching the first episode I was hooked! I recommended it to everyone, especially anyone that hadn’t seen it but called it lame. The finale STILL sticks in my mind since it pretty much has the hero lose, hoping to get it right the second time…
I still wonder why this show never came out on VHS (back in the day) or DVD/Blu-ray nowadays. Also for any So-Cal (Los Angeles County) people a place Called Frank & Sons collectible have mighty max toys there
Mighty Max is one of the few stories where the villain wins in the end and not afraid to show that on TV. I'm sure they would have reversed it if they allowed the show to continue.
Really wish whomever owns the rights would get the series remastered to high quality and re-release it on Blu-ray or a streaming site. Such a fantastic show.
Holy crap, I literally thought I had made this up in my head same thing with the little playsets but read in the comments and seeing this makes me feel less crazy during this crazy time.
Someone dying at the start of every episode is what initially hooked me. Plus I've always worn a hat so it was easy to see myself as the character. It annoyed me that Norman never actually uses his sword, something even Max mentions when he gets it back after losing it.

Imagine a trilogy of movies? Set in the 90s ? If done right it'd be huge!
Christ almighty i loved this show and the toys! Micro play sets were 90’s staples. Even the x-men and spider-man had micro play sets lol
When this came out, I was "growing out of" these style of cartoons. But, GOT DAYUM IT, Mighty Max and Dark Wing Duck told me to sit my azz down and see something.
Tmnt had a series of playsets as well....lol. They were always convenient for pocket toys.
And yet this lousy video does it no justice. Thanks again Marvelous for making something cool look boring and wasting several minutes of my life.

Ever tried ripping whatever episodes you can find and burn to a DVD? You can do that if you took time.
That's actually a good idea🤔

I had so many Mighty Max toys as a kid! The Skull Mountain set is one I remember very fondly.
Mighty Max, Exo Squad and Ulysses 31 were some of the best shows.
Used to love this show in the mornings before school. It was dark but good.
one of my favorite cartoon shows ever! My dad had an old marlboro cigarette hat with a M on it. Totally wore and thought i was Max!
Loved this show. It was a staple of my childhood. That series finale.....😲😲😲
I remember both the toys and the show fondly. I can recall quite a few times kids Mighty Max toys being taken away during the middle of class, lol.

Definitely an awesome cartoon from the '90s it should have lasted longer mighty Max was freaking awesome.
This and Exo-Squad were way ahead of their time.
Great show that nicely wove sci-fi, mythological, and occult themes. Premise was interesting and voice acting (e.g., Tim Curry) was top notch.
All the voice acting was great for the main cast. RIP tony jay. Audio production as a whole really sold the themes and stories.
Needs a release on dvd/bluray for sure.👍

I loved this show and how dark it was.
