How to disassemble engine VVTi Toyota Part 17/31: Cylinder head
Thank You Sir. You helped me a lot with all your videos. I started a rebuild on my MR2 Spyder motor. Sucess! I disassembled cylinder head with no problem. Next, remove rods and pistons. I will watch your videos again soon on assembly instructions. I will also post my videos and give you credit to my success. Thank you again Mr. Professor!
that socket is called a torx in usa...peter thanks for your videos
tool is called a Triple Square. Thank you very much for your videos SIR!!!!!
+Jerome Petersen Thank You. I appreciate Your feedback.
It's not a triple-square. 10mm triple square is too small. Now, a 10mm bi-hexagonal "double hex" fits perfect. The service manual calls for it. Had to order online because none of my local auto parts stores' had them.
Peter. Great videos. Has helped me a lot. Is it OK to re use head bolts?
I have the head off my 2000 corolla vvti at the moment. Bolts came out fine.
Re use is Ok
tanks for all your videos are very helpfull
alex soriano Thank You.
Hey thanks for what you are doing but i think you have to explain more bcse we don't get the answer of many things we are looking.like what is the reason that we have this particul on top the pistons.that is the kind of things we need to know.thanks agains.
Agwe Ahanda Thanks for feedback.
You are welcome.
Ok, so I purchased the 12 star Torx tool and 3 bolts stripped because they were way too tight, so I stopped before I stripped more bolts. The tool is the right size because 5 Bolts did come out.
After Googling options I bought a torch and heated the very last bolts and still managed to strip the 2 of them. looked for more options and ended up buying a 6 star Torx toll that would still grabbed the bolt a bit, but that was useless as it completely stripped the head of the one bolt I tried it on and I didn't want to do the rest because I felt like they'd end up the same. A couple of people tell me my only option is to notch the Bolt head with a dremmel and use a large flat screw driver, but I feel I may end up destroying the bolt head and then how do I get the rest of the bolt out?
Any suggestions?
Hi, You need to drill the bolt head away. Use drill bit size 12mm. The drill bit must be bigger the hole. I have made it one time. Here is little idea of drilling: ruclips.net/video/lncuhI0ovyU/видео.html
It's not a triple-square or a torx. 10mm triple square is too small and torx is only 6 sided. Now, a 10mm bi-hexagonal "double hex" fits perfect. The service manual calls for it. Had to order online because none of my local auto parts stores' had them.
@@Corcoran21 hi, i can't find this double torx/spline tool to open this bolts, did you find this tool on line? if you can you help me with with link it will be great!!!
thenks' avner

Do you have a video how to take apart 2008 yaris? I keep loosing oil, and can't figure if it's burning it, or leaking. I think I damaged the engine little bit. So I want to learn how to fix the engine. Is there any book that can show step by step how to do it with images?
Hi, I need to do new video
@@PeterFinnTheCarDoctor I would appreciate if you could make a video how to take a part yaris 2008 engine. No information in RUclips.
I did this and when i got the head off someone flipped it over and all the lifters fell out without me being able to note there relative locations. I was curious if you noted where they went? i noticed they have numbers inside of them but i don't know to which valve spring the coincide with. If you could help it would be much appreciated.
Ok, well. Parts are similar. Only valves are different.
+Peter Finn thanks for the reply! i ended up pulling spring and measuring seats to top of valves then clearance. ended up working beautifully, thanks again!
