One of the best ever Eastenders episodes. One of the saddest really too since it was Grant's exit & the end of an era of the Mitchell brothers domination of the show for practically the entirety of the 90's.

@@eescenes85 It was the beginning of creating the real Phil Mitchell. For the last 9 years he was just a sidekick for Grant. Now with him gone, we can now explore his life.
@@shamim13333 He was never a Sidekick! More of a Double Act. Always the better actor too, Grant was just exciting.
@@shamim13333 No the real Phil was 1990s Phil. Not the wannabe gangster he became in 2000. I watched during the 1990s so prefer the original Phil.
@@Uksoapfan Yeah he got a bit too big for his boots in 2000’s, started believing he was something he wasn’t. He was definitely a more realistic character in the 90’s.

This was a great episode with two legend of characters The Mitchell brothers where such a great duo

Eastenders The Bill TV was great back in the day. This was one of the best Episodes. Eastenders was always kicking Coronation streets ass.

The end of the old Phil Mitchell, and the rise of the new evil twisted Phil.
Early/late 80s/90s & Early 2000s was classic Eastenders. Not the overly-woke stuff nowadays- a few racist characters , homophobic characters, random lesbian marriage, free-running abuser/murderer? New boring characters every few months also ruins it. Iconic characters like Phil, Sharon, Kat, Janine etc are saving the show these days.

@@mrdr0161 Not really, like every soap, they obviously covered racism topics & had a few small storylines etc, but I don’t think they ever had main characters that were racist, homophobic etc...
@@eve8993 Jim Branning was quite racist when he first arrived. Dot was also quite homophobic.
@@mrdr0161 I guess... but I just still think soaps like EE are still being ruined by *extreme* ‘wokeness’😳 making Harvey a nice character at first, then he’s racist, his son also racist, homophobic Vi against Ben & Callum and now apparently a terrorist attack at Christmas 🤷♀️ doesn’t seem like the early days of Eastenders, unfortunately 😅

This episode was the start of creating a new Phil Mitchell. A new hardman which is about to replace Grant seeing as though it was the final episode after 9 years.
This episode really made Grant look so weak.
Grant should have grabbed the gun off Phil and threw it out the window because he had the opportunity to
Grant was on a self-destructive streak after Tiffany’s death because he felt guilt about not loving her the way he loved Sharon. That’s why he was still angry at Phil about Sharon, because he had a real chance with Tiff and he blew it, only realising what he’d lost once it was too late. Grant and Bianca both had PTSD from Tiff’s death basically.

I was one of them
So I see how The old Phil Mitchell who was likeable and hardman and was nice we know from 1990 until 1999. But he had alcohol problems. But wasn't a villain yet. But in this episode looks like old phil suddenly just faded away. Even the new version phil was born the one that will rule the square and be more nasty person and more hard and dangerous guy. This episode was actually Phil's personality changed for the first time.
Think reminds me of other soap characters that changed personality too. Some that used to be bad or dodgy and changed to good and some that were good changed into bad. That's classic what the producers love to do.
