- Manchester City defender Esme Morgan suffered a leg fracture against Tottenham. She will undergo surgery but is expected to be out for a while. #MCFC
MCWFC Statement:
"Esme Morgan is set for a spell on the sidelines after suffering a lower leg fracture in Sunday's Barclays FA WSL game against Tottenham.
"The defender will shortly undergo surgery on her right leg before beginning a period of rehabilitation with the Club."

As a former referee, the noise yes isn't nice, but you can't tell that a bone has been broken. The ref did the right thing in stopping play straight away and allowing treatment onto the field
This took me straight back to getting my leg broken in a match when I was in my 20s - thankfully it was just my fibula but the challenge from their goalie snapped it clean in two. After I’d got back from the hospital, fully plastered up & on crutches I saw one of our midfielders looking upset. She admitted that she’d heard a loud snap when the goalie hit me but assumed it was one of my shinpad inserts breaking, but when she was packing my stuff up for me she checked & my shinpads were all intact so she feared the worst! I was really lucky, the ends of my fibula had stayed aligned so as the A&E dr said, “if you’re going to break your leg that’s pretty much the best way to do it”. My poor mate who’d heard the snapping noise hated that sort of sound from then on!
But then gave Morgan a yellow card, how is that justified since you’re a former referee

the card is absolutely out of place but to be fair the defender got the ball first and went for it with just one leg its a clean tackle just unlucky for morgan's leg to be caught under the defenders'

Defender won the ball, and the unlucky player moved her right leg into the defender after the ball was already gone. Tragic accident, but it certainly wasn't the defenders fault.

The Spurs player kicked the ball away with her right foot and studs down. The City player kicked the same leg of the Spurs player. Shin to shin contact seemed to be the cause of the break. Not sure why so many in the comments think it should have been a yellow/red card for the Spurs player. I'm OK with the yellow to the City player given the Spurs player got the ball and the City player kicked the Spurs player's shin.

u can literally hear the leg snap like a gunshot and if you slow it down u can see it bend. not every leg break will leave the leg dangling so bad that u can clearly tell

That's yellow for sure for the Manchester City player! The defender touched the ball first and wasn't a dangerous tackle, she even has the other leg to the side not putting the opponent's physical integrity in cause... while the city player lost the ball and made an imprudent tackle WITH the foot forward putting the opponent's physical integrity in cause...
Unfortunately she was the one that broke the leg but it could be the other way around!!
In my opinion VAR should have intervened for a possible red card! But unfortunately the replay is too fast for me to understand ...
