This is the exact sewing machine I've been looking into getting when I next upgrade! Home sewing machines burn/wear out so easy (its either that or I thoroughly beat them up). Thanks for sharing your review!
Loved your review. I've been sewing on commercial machines for many, many years! Love my Juki DDL5550& DDL 8700 I also have and love my Brother sewing/embriodery machines.
Thank you for the amazing review! I've been sewing on a Singer Patchwork for years and about to receive an old Montgomery Ward from my uncle from his upholstery days, but this machine is on my saving up list to buy next year.
Great overview video ... just picked up a nearly new version of the machine. Recommend you do a few more videos on the machine.... tips for adjusting tension, maintenance, configuring for different types of sewing. While there are some on RUclips most are not as polished as your few machine videos.
I really want one of these. I have a Juki DNU-1541, and I think this machine would be a good partner to it. I want to find a store that I can go see it in person and sew on it. Great video, Bamboo cracked me up
Hi, just curious. I love that you "show the digital feature" to adjust the speed. However, I can't seem to find that in the description of the link you provided for the purchase or on other ads for this. Could you please tell me if "this is an added on feature?" TYIA :)
I thought it was 5500 stitches per minute, I've been checking into getting one. I love it so much. I just noticed this was from 2 years ago, so maybe they made the new machines go 5500 spm.
Hi! I loved this video since I'm thinking of upgrading from my juki f600 domestic. Do you have more videos like this that will help me with my decision? Thanks.
Hi can you tell me if I bought the Teflon plate and feeder to do heavier fabric what size needle do you recommend ?? Thanks for your video I’m just waiting on my machine arriving but I use vinyl a lot for making bags and someone said I’d need to change plate feeder and needle
I love your patience of explaining about Mr. Juki DDL 8700. I always admire this machine and would like to own one mainly for heavy duty purposes. Can I ask you where l can get a good deal for one?
Good question! I bought mine from a local dealer. You might be able to find one on Facebook marketplace as well but I’ve never tried that. I never use my home sewing machine anymore and this was definitely worth getting it new!
The oil system needs to be run at 3000+ revs, watch for oil in the top clear plug. You now know it is well lubricated and you can set the speed back to what makes you happy.
I’m researching industrial machines and I was wondering if this machine comes with a walking foot, I haven’t found any videos that cover that. Love your video it’s very informative. Thank you so much.
I purchased this machine, but I can’t get the presser foot to apply enough pressure to hold my fabric. I have it down as far as it will go, and the fabric still moves under the foot
Can I ask you where you get your matel plate with the sizes on it form I have the some sewing machine Juki DDL-8700 H- industrial machine and mines didn’t come with the size metal plate and I been looking for one for mine did your come with it
I am researching this machine to use for working on full grain leather. I like to make tote bags, wallets, journal covers, etc. Seems best to get a walking foot for use with leather. Have you used yours with say 4-5 to 7-8oz leather? Thank you!
I think this machine can sew through leather better than a home sewing machine, however, I don't think it is the most ideal machine for that job. Definitely on quilts though! I've sewing through quilts and layers of batting without an issue.
Hi Tailorette.... I am thinking about starting a marine canvas and upholstery shop. It seems whenever I go to a canvas guy Juki is the machine I see the most of... would you recommend this for heavy sunbrella and clear roll up plastics we use for windows in boat canvas jobs. Also wanted to know if it would be good for vinyl in seat cushions ... Thanks
Also I want to buy some faux leather needles found them but it’s asking what size 🙈 And I would like some advice what size needles to use as a general normal sewing needle and what size bobbins they take sorry for all the questions great video and true me iv been looking at everyone on RUclips and didn’t really understand a lot many thanks jan
Hi just brought a Juki 8700 and didn’t recive any information with it Iv down loaded manual gosh doesn’t mean a lot. Iv done everything I should I hope. But Iv turned it on and my control panel which looked a bit like yours say p and three line going round in circles if I press -/+ it shows me a number like say 3 but doesn’t stay on continuing to do the above then if I sew the number 3 will be there then stop and go back to circle movement hope this makes sense and is this what is ment to happen many thanks jan
I think it could work, however I’ve never tried sewing many seams in one sitting that thick to see what it would do. It might be wise to ask a Juki dealer which machine would be best for that.
Good question! I’m not %100 sure, but I think it has to do with how it starts sewing. I think the lock stitch sews so that you don’t have to sew back and forth before you sew your seam? I’d have to verify that though 🙂
Wonderful information, I have been looking for this sewing machine with that same servo motor. I was hoping you could give me the model number of the servo motor that is attached to your Juki. Thank you.
Thanks for that info on this machine I will need one of this soon n was looking for ideas about latest machines, please how much could it be in Us dollars.
Is there a video of someone walking the needle very slowly with the pedal? Just want to see how slow you can go and how thick of material it can go through.
Is the stitch speed adjustment something you purchased separately from the actual machine? I've been looking at several different pictures of this machine but none of them have that attachment. I'm looking at purchasing and being able to adjust the speed would be great.
bonjour je viens d'acheté une machine junky 8700 comme la votre et j'aimerais que vous fassiez une video pour regler le point dessus et dessous car je n'arrive pas merci à vous
The speed of this machine is impressive, but my concern is how slow it will stitch. I did see you dial it way back to 600 stitches per minute, but can it be controlled even further using the wheel by hand? Thank You & great video... very helpful!!!
Yeah, I threaded it correctly. I plan on getting serviced. I was told by my juki dealer tension problem or threaded incorrectly. I have a tension problem from birds nest it makes when I start sewing. I have notices that the top thread gets sucked in than it starts 🙃 😅
@@thetailorette I noticed in a video making jeans that they put cloth before they sew. So like they run it nearly to the end than actual project. Solves the problem but once I sew like back pockets, waistband 🤯🤢
The oil upfront that it takes would be about a whole bottle of machine oil that Juki sells. I purchase mine from where I purchased my machine locally. Surprisingly I don't have to clean it very often. It hardly ever jams up from the fluff that collects.
hello very nice lady tailor please kindly film how to operate the industrial sewing machine foot pedal how its used to sew please OK?please kindly let me know OK?thank you very much

Absolutely! I don’t regret buying this one at all. Definitely a life saver long term.
I look at these industrial machines from time to time. Thanks for the review.
They’re definitely life changing for sure! 🙂
Loved your review. I've been sewing on commercial machines for many, many years! Love my Juki DDL5550& DDL 8700 I also have and love my Brother sewing/embriodery machines.
Thank you! Yes, I can see that I would want to sew on mine for several years too!
Yes it’s a game changer! What a difference after a home sewing machine!
Thank you for the amazing review! I've been sewing on a Singer Patchwork for years and about to receive an old Montgomery Ward from my uncle from his upholstery days, but this machine is on my saving up list to buy next year.
You're welcome! :) That's great! I'm sure you will thoroughly enjoy your Montgomery Ward. Old machines are the best!
Thanks so much for ths video. Very helpful! I just bought this set-up and can't wait to start using it.
Yay! Good for you!
I, too, just received the juki DDL8700! Can you tell me how to drop the feed dogs for free motion quilting?

I have a Bernina which is also full metal but if i ever open up an atelier an industrial Juki would be my dream machine.
Yes! I've heard great things about old Berninas. I think it's essential to have a good old home machine along with a juki. I think you'd love it! :)
@@thetailorette Totally believe that too
Thank you for a very honest and informative video.

Why is it so difficult to find a video that actually shows the machine in action?
Will I be able to drop the feed and free hand on the 8700?
I'm excited to get mine. Thanks.
Great machine, thanks for sharing the video and greetings from 🇧🇿
What thread/needle combo do you recommend if using this machine for piecing/quilting?
I have a vintage, in table Singer 66, and it threads almost exactly like this! I'd love to get a juki some day, but only because it's so much faster.
That’s awesome! Vintage singers are great!!
I thought it was 5500 stitches per minute, I've been checking into getting one. I love it so much. I just noticed this was from 2 years ago, so maybe they made the new machines go 5500 spm.
I can get one with direct drive motor and one without, which would you recommend? I heard direct drive motor has less vibrations?
Interesting video, it threads very similar to my Singer 401A from 1959. Not exactly the same, but a similar path and mechanism.
I keep going back and forth between the 8700 and the walking foot one. Because I make more handbags than clothes
This one is great with all kinds of projects. This would work really well with handbags and things.

Thank you! :) Both of my juki machines came with the speed control built in.

What is the make/model of the servo motor that you have? The display at the edge of the table, rather than down underneath is awesome.
How do you make buttonholes?
by hand or another machine

No it's a regular straight stitch. You can purchase a Teflon or roller feet to suit your needs.

Yes it does. Definitely friendly to have in your own home. I've never tripped a breaker from using my machines

How heavy of material can you sew. I sew up to 1/4 inch leather can this machine do that or would the juki ddl 8700h be better?
Will this take T105 thread and needle size 21? Thank you. I’m trying to sew denim with heavier thread
If you move your reverse lever down a little bit. Your dial will move easier
Good to know! I also noticed that if you slightly tap the foot petal it loosens up the wheel.

I’m thinking at this machine to make paintball gear. Some of the items are 6 layers of a canvas like fabric. What do you think?
I think it could work, however I’ve never tried sewing many seams in one sitting that thick to see what it would do. It might be wise to ask a Juki dealer which machine would be best for that.
Hi, was there a problem with all the oil in the pan under the machine as you were moving it home? Were there any leaks or spills during the journey?
Good question! I always need to add a lot more oil to my machine after I move. I started emptying the oil out due to it spilling. Hope that helps 🙂
What thread do you use for sewing cotton?
Can a beginner use this machine with no prior training, learn through trial n error?
What is the difference between juki straight stitch machine vs lock stitch sewing machine?!

I got a question about fitting a double needle. Is this possible with your Juki mashine? Thank you in advance
This machine only takes one needle at a time 🙂
What size of needle do you use
Will it sew automotive and marine upholstery?
Good question! I'm not %100 sure. My guess is a more study Juki might be needed for leather.
Where you buy your lights

How does your machine do with sewing corsets?
Excellent! I find it to be the best at doing heavy duty dresses and garments
Can you sew leather and canvas on it?
hi, can you do zigzag ? probably not ig
This machine does not sew in a zig zag. It is only a straight stitch.
Hello, I would like to ask what is the brand of the table, did you buy it separately? Thank you very much for the review, it really helped me.
does it cut the bobbin thread if you press the bottom of the pedal like the brother one?
That would be the Juki DDL-8700-7

It seems quite noisy for a new model when doing fast stitch, is 7000A quieter even though more expensive 🤔
will Juki 8700 it stitch thick upholstery fabric?
For thick upholstery fabrics I would buy the 8700 H
