      Rougue Slayer That's odd, so did I, probably due to the fact that I watched it very late at night as a small child, kinda weird to know someone else shared the same experience...

      +Rougue Slayer This is a very strange sensation! Pretty amusing that scientists did not study it properly. I for example too have a cartoon I think is real but remembering it as a dream. If anyone know an old cartoon where a girl traveled to another dimension filled with magic fairies and staff. She also wore a purple flower like dress. Can't recall the name or the scenario =(.

    I love how Ray Charles' song and the destruction seen on screen are so contrasting but at the same time so complimentary of each other. One of my favorite anime movies, no, movies ever. I was sitting at my moms one day and randomly turned this movie on... not knowing what a beautiful ending was in store for me.

      I hate being that person, but this is actually based on a manga of the same name by Osamu Tezuka. He claimed he never watched the film, but did gather inspiration from it while making the manga (mainly just a still shot of the scene of the Maschinenmensch being constructed)
      However, apparently a lot of plot elements from the 1927 film are present in the movie compared to the manga, so you’re not entirely off. It’s a fun coincidence though that they happened to be named the same

    • @dannytheman1313
      @dannytheman1313 Месяц назад +4

      @@demi_shin Yeah I don't buy that he didn't at least watch the movie once, theres too much in similarities a humanoid robot who eventually brings about the destruction of a city, from what I saw there are differences but theres also a lot of similarities including the name. It's cool if he took inspiration from it Metropolis is one of the influential movies of the last 100 years but yeah I don't 100% buy that this is like Denice the Menace where two cartoon creators came up with the same thing at the same time.

If you’ve ever been there when someone you love dies you understand. There’s so much gravity of what’s happening and you see them beyond coming back but there’s still a flicker of all the happiness of what once was. And then they slip away. Pure tragedy

    Oh man, how did I forget about this film? It came out when I started high school and I was OBSESSED with it. I love the core of the story between Kenichi and Tima for the same reasons I love Let The Right One In/Let Me In. It's a great story about young love and the fact that it's an epic Sci-Fi film is just icing on the cake. I was so engrossed by this film that I spent that entire school year creating my own version of the film in comic form. Wish I still had that notebook. Anyway, glad I rediscovered this classic.

    You have no idea how excited I was when I finally learned the name of this movie. I have vague memories of seeing it for the first time on Cartoon Network back in 2006 - 2007. Then I saw it again on CineMAX right in this scene, but I changed the channel because I was scared by how Tima moves her fingers and chokes Kenichi, only to put it back right in the final shot with the radio. It wasn't until I was in high school that I finally found out what it was called thanks to RUclips, and since then it's been my favorite anime movie of all time. I love the story, the animation, the music, the characters, and I especially love the relationship between Tima and Kenichi, and discovering the photo of the post-credits scene filled me with joy for the two of them. Years later I was finally able to read Tezuka's manga and realize how different they are, but I don't care. I love this movie with all my soul.

    I know the song was probably chosen primarily for Tima’s feelings about Kenichi, but I can’t help but also feel a pang of sympathy for Rock and his adoration of his father. Rock loves his father so deeply that he’d rather bring the Ziggurat down and kill them all than suffer the indignity of his father being killed by rebellious robots. His refusal to let Tima rule is born not only of jealousy but because he believes his father is the only person great enough to rule. Despite the fact that his father loathes him, Rock still “can’t stop loving” him, as the song goes. It’s really tragic.
    What a wonderful film.
