Free Play Arcade, I love what you guys are doing. I'm literally going to plan my next vacation around one of your arcades. I took my family to Nashville and there is a similar type of arcade but it didn't have a bar. Out of all the things we did, my kids would not stop asking me to take them back to the arcade. I lived in your area, I would probably be there at least 5 times a week.
I wish I had one of these near me. I'd be there every single day. I already play arcade games at home via emulation, an Xbox, and a $40 arcade stick. I miss the arcades, man. Standing at a machine, knowing you only have so many quarters to get as far as you can, people standing behind you watching you play while they wait for their turn. Being one of those people watching and waiting, while striking up small talk with the others that were waiting. Or going up to a fighting or racing game, only for a second unknown person to show up and challenge you.
Man, like, gaming used to be a proper social activity. Even ignoring arcades, back in the day of Pokemon on the Game Boy. I had my fair share of trading Pokemon with people in school or just out and about, and comparing our Pokedex. Or even card games. I remember bringing Pokemon and YuGiOh cards to school, and trading, or showing off some cool new rare card I got. Nowadays, even card games are digital and people play 'em online. Pokemon trading is online. Hell, even arcade games are online if you buy 'em on Xbox and stuff. There's almost no need to actually see someone in person to play a game.
I'm not one of those people that knock modern day stuff. I play my fair share of online pvp games, and do my share of sitting on a couch in front of a TV being as anti-social as possible, playing Skyrim or Fallout for hours on end. But there's just something about being physically in the same room as other like-minded people, wanting to go for high scores, or wanting to share collections of things. I miss it. Made worse by my ever growing social anxiety over the years, it makes it near impossible for me to go on Facebook and find meet ups and things.
Edit: I actually found a bar/arcade that looks half decent about an hour away from me. Might have to check it out one day. Sadly, not a Free Play, so I'd be blowing so many quarters.
As a kid carnevil blew my mind. Now I have to make it up there to finish that game! Excellent gun game, freeplay game selections show you how passionate they are.
Absolutely amazing. I hope I get to visit this place some day.
This is important brings people together, and forces interaction with people, helps with social skills.
Love that Astro City candy cab
Well, that is why single player or play against machine loses its public , i remember losing days and days at arcades, instead playing sports and making friends at a club (well to be honest, I used glasses bad a seeing far, you know how was the school with "4 eyes ppl", so with seeing far problems, I was bad at sports anyway), with that in the background, I can say about arcades: In the video games scene, everybody breathes when esports appeared. Sure , you know lots more friend teaming CS 1.5 CS 1.6, or any other team game. Esports is where the ppl and the scene really is. Btw it took me to have 25yo to give a 180 to my social live. At last a machine is just a machine and the old man who sells the token don't server as a friend (in 90's the arcades except for some peak hour,, were desert). Remember, wanting in Cruising USA/Word, wanting another guy to sit in the other spot, so, If I lose in time, but win to him, I got an extra credit/checkpoint, bad idea, or in Bubble Bobble IIRC, wanting to be the BLUE one always, so you gets more lives, and nobody wanting to be the green. It was always competition against, in most of dual player arcades if the other joins the difficult is increased, if the other plaayer is bad and loses quickly, you will hate him!, that and a few more was the problems with arcades. It is very isolating you learn quickly must be focused on the game, not in the ppl that walk behind or watch you, or you lose, hard environment to make friends, banned in most countries, in 80's adquiring a license to have a arcade playroom bussiness implied the impossible race of documents at the goverment, and police will do a hell of your business if don't pay to the local police authority, as underage are prohibited, also be there with school clothes, or backpack (the target of a bussiness like that, teenagers). Ofcourse, we all love the entertainment it served, but in the long. years and years, any activity that isolates you socially it bad side-effect.
Do you have super turbo?
I heard the pizza is good to I'm maybe an hour from Denton, I may come tonight, my small town could us this, idk if it would do good in a small town.
Do Brad and Janet ever visit Freeplay? I also did not see a cyberball game.
Cyberball 2072 is currently available at Free Play Arlington 👍
NBA Jam?
Cool video can’t believe you have a play choice 10 that’s super rare. As you were mentioning the good games:punch out, wild gunman, but then you mention Back to the future 2 🤔 why would you add such a bad game???😂
With the amount of money invested. I see absolutely no way to not only recoup, but make a profit in this business. I mean it's beautiful and amazing! But there is probably over 250 - 500k in hardware arcades alone in that building. Charging $10 per head, you are really counting on people drinking an eating to make a profit.
