I remember in '62 skating with my siblings. Very different from the 80's. Music basically was from Buddy Holly and the Beatles. The disco era hadn't arrived yet. No strobe Light yet. Girls and boys dressed conservative. Generally, most went to Church on Sundays. Parents had more authority. Skating Races were very popular. Cars were Chevrolet Bel Aires. By 8:00pm, everybody went home. Times have changed.
Sir, even before "disco" skating, black americans have been skating to their music. Even as far as the 1940s. We have never stopped. "Disco" skating was dance skating to our music. It was just done with nonblack people. The skating you see now is how we (black people) are dance skating now
Goodness, sk8ing was everything. Sure miss those days. Group sk8, the lights, the moves, the camaraderie. Good times. Ppl got along. Those were good days.
