Good call on the gasket. I did a double gasket on my 86 f150 in 1987. Three miles down the dirt road from home I stopped to take a leak. Truck was clacking like a diesel. Walked 6 miles home and back to get oil and whatnot. Saw where oil had blown out half mile from home. Got her hummied up and truck went on for 400k miles. Taking a leak saved an engine.
Thanks. I also have a 2013 Malibu and about to do the first oil change since the free ones ran out for my warranty. This video let me know just what I needed.
I have the 2014 and ive never changed the oil on THIS car since ive had it. I usually service my own vehicles mainly to ensure its being done correctly. Thank you for the video. Im inspired ti do it myself again.
LIKE THE video instructions, ONE THING I Hate on the video is IT IS REVERSE Picture. everything was backwards. it should be Righty Tighty Lefty Loosey. I was flabbergasted when I seen the unbolting going reverse. I was wondering is this new from my older Chevys to this 2015 Malibu? It went different until I seen the OIL Filter lettering backwards confirming the positioning of the image a reversed mirror like one. whew. GREAT video and short enough to follow.
The WIX filter is the best.!! I have 2 big truck. 18 wheeler. I cat engine. I put WIX filter. Put New oil on the filter. It's lazy on it. 5 e 20. No. 5,30
My question is ive read it was changed in 2014 my car says eco on the trunk but its not the 2.4 its the 2.5 I know they take the same amount of oil but the filters are different i haven't looked yet but injust want to make sure I get the right filter im confused why it says eco when they supposedly replaced that and stopped making it in 2014 lol any insight would be helpful
@@AdamJ813 Gotcha! LOL I was thinking this was another thing these freakin engineers did that would cause alot of cussing and kicking stuff when trying to remove the plug!! LOL
@@AdamJ813 don't really want to use old oil on the oil filter. That's why you don't need any tools to tighten the filter. Unless you got a canister oil filter.
5k mile oil change for full synthetic, and an expensive 20k mile oil filter? *what a colossal waste of time and money* to keep dumping and trashing your expensive oil and filters twice as often as necessary. Did you know that one of the main jobs of the built in oil life monitor, is to prevent people from changing their oil too frequently? Because so many people still think this is 1980, and quick lube shops keep the 3-5k mile oil change myth alive.

Don’t listen to this bozo who says to change your oil every 5k miles. Go by the oil life monitor in your vehicle.

Glad to hear..thanks for watching!
always the best dealerships or service stores only reset your change oil screen on your dashboard!😂 and you drive away with muddy engine 🤢
thanks this helped going to do my oil change this weekend
Thank you, your video helped me do my oil change today, I don't really trust mechanics at all and I'm glad I'm able to do it myself now
Great video, thanks for taking the time to make it
I want see a video how to change Transmission mount on a 2015 Malibu 2.5 engine

Thanks for the reverse explanation.
Awesome video
Good video
Where can you jack the car up/place the jack stands? Im a truck guy, so not having a legit boxed frame is a little foreign for me.
There is a spot close to the edge on the frame I jack and put the stands next to where I jacked up at.
Your followers from Iraq 🇮🇶
Your video is flipped. Anyone else catching this? His righty tight lefty loosely is backwards.
Do you know where the oil assembly pump is?

Did you jack up the car to be able to fit under it or does it have something to do with the draining process??
I just jacked it up to fit under the car.
Good video!!!

Are those still the same cougar leds???? And are they hyperflashing???
Yeah there still the cougar leds, i doesn't actually hyperflash at all just looks that way on camera.
Just hit 90000 miles with my 2014 malibu... is your car putting up check engine lights lately.. cuz mine has
SAS15G it’s probably the rocker arm oil engine valve
do i go counter clock wise bro? cant really tell by the vid
Its counter clockwise I think its inverted in the video
counter clockwise lefty-loose righty-tight
You are going clockwise to loosen the filter?
Video is inverted sorry!
That’s the same thing for a 2014?
Yeah its the same!
Is it just me or did the drain plug appear to be threaded backwards, turning right to loosen and left to tighten?
Yeah sorry was inverted on my 📷

Thanks good job
Also what did size and type did you use
and that’s exactly how much oil to put in? There’s not a exact amount ?
A 5 quart jug is what I put in.
Dip the new oil filter in some OLD oil??? ...
Just to lubricate the o ring not to fill the filter
That’s where he lost me
@AdamJ813 Just dip your finger in the new oil and run it around the filter gasket. Less messy and new oil on gasket.
Gracias💯🙏
Thanks
Why dip the new filter in old oil? And just hand tight oil filter you shouldn't need a tool to tighten.
Just to lubricate the gasket and you also don't want to over tighten, the filter shows you only turn like a turn and a half

@@joshtaylor1416 its just to lube the gasket , you don't fill the filter with old oil just wet the rim.
@@AdamJ813 I still wouldn't dip it in old oil. But whatever you wanna do
