Mike, reading an obit isn't the most fun thing to do, but this one really is special. @@vibewithmike Hey, all your boat friends are lucky we can watch the amazing videos and you really work hard to bring us all together with comments and stories. Kudos to you too, kiddo!!😄💖
Nice job Mike. And thanks for staying up later than normal to give us this treat. The 'Soo Express' made 34 trips to Duluth last year. Might just be the most visited ship to the Twin Ports. Starting at 4:45 you get a great view of the 'range lights' on the Michipicoten. These are the tall white lights on masts above the bow and stern. These help other ships determine its course of direction as their ship approaches. And speaking of lights......boy does that small bridge light which denotes the state of the canal current show up MUCH better the further you get out towards the lake. When I visited Duluth last month, I couldn't believe how much brighter it was when I was standing next to the north pier lighthouse. It's apparent the beam is directed in such a way to maximize visibility for the captain out in the lake....way before the start of the canal. And that makes sense.
