    Literally everything you say in your videos is everything I've experienced in my three years of computer engineering. Circuit theory was so hard because I knew all the equations but had a hard time figuring out where to apply them.

    So if you understand the concept of each circuit and the formulas it will be easier to identify which one to use. At the same time, could it be easier if a person actually experiments with each circuit in real life with the different formulas to remember what each one does? I must agree with you I'm an introvert as well, and the TAs not really stressing on the right or wrong. The purpose is to learn, after all. I like hands on for this reason, you learn first hand what happens and what's right and what's wrong (with proper assistance of course). With this said, having worked in the Navy, symbols and systems were a common part of our jobs so hopefully, I will do okay with that. Professors do play a huge part in how well we learn. I totally agree with that because I had to retake a course and the new professor was worse than my first. I almost wished I had the previous professor. Great video thank you!

    • @TheSn12
      @TheSn12  5 лет назад +1

      Cindy Rivera Thank you for taking the time to reply! Yes, it would defiantly be easier to experiment with each circuit to understand the formulas but would most likely take longer and, personally, be more effort because you’d have to know how to build a circuit using the real parts and have access to a lab if you don’t have the equipment. But if it works for someone and they’re willing to do it then more power to them!

    I see your perspective and these classes are difficult. I did enjoy components of them many years back. It seems that it's difficult to get these electrical components since it not readily available in stores or hard to find so it difficult to apply them in real-life situations.

    At our school, Data Structures was a weed-out class. The professor purposely made the projects difficult(for a novice) to see who could handle the independent research on their own. He did end up curving grades at end of semester AFTER the drop date to whoever made it that far. By far the most stressful class I took because we had to pick the structure and he wouldn't tell you if you did it the inefficient way, such as using vector of vectors vs using maps(which is way easier to implement) for a data clustering program. On another note Assembly Language was tough on the first go, but I picked it up fairly quickly in Embedded Systems when programming DSP's. I did have to take Linear Algebra three times, but I blame myself for lack of discipline on the studies.

    • @TheSn12
      @TheSn12  4 года назад +4

      Ouch, I know the feeling. The circuits I and II classes that I had were exactly like your data structure class (which is probably why it was so painful and long). Don’t know why some professors have a need to do that (especially for more advance courses) I think they just get a kick out of watching their students suffer...hey, well at least you finally passed the class, right? That’s all the matters in the end.

    • @TheSn12
      @TheSn12  4 года назад +4

      Yes same here. I have always struggled asking questions mainly for fear looking/sounding dumb or wasting the persons time. Still struggle with this but I have noticed that the more questions you ask, the easier it’ll get and you’ll get better at asking them (I.e. not hesitating, sounding shy/timid, being more specific, etc.)

      I can’t speak for every university/curriculum but with me (going into 3rd year comp eng) I would recommend learning matlab basics. This was my first language course required, and later in my signal processing (lab portion) it was completely using matlab. So far I’ve had a couple courses with arduinos but they very slowly introduced any use of them. I believe microcontrollers (year 3) goes pretty heavy in arduino but the courses before provide a really good foundation. Also any outside projects or hobbies (here IEEE robotics is great) that you can maintain is extra helpful. My curriculum had me take (in this order) matlab, c, vhdl, then Java. Language wise after about the first 2 Java came very easy to me and many other comp engr students, even with no previous Java experience (but it doesn’t hurt either). Hope this helped some, and good luck!

    • @nicolaswirtz6952
      @nicolaswirtz6952 3 года назад

      IMO, basic circuit fundamentals are essential for most elec./comp. engineering jobs and career focuses. Being able to look at a circuit and understand how the signals within in go through it is the fundamental aspect of any design, test, or troubleshooting role in an EE/CE job. Like most engineering courses, you will not need to know every little equation or concept in your career. It is the fundamental methods you use to solve problems that bring success later in your career. If you ever talk to a consultant that works on diverse skillet teams, they might tell you that depending on the background of degree or expertise an individual will take a very different approach to solve the same problem.

    Is your job hard? Or is it pretty easy? Was it hard to learn at first ?

    • @TheSn12
      @TheSn12  4 года назад +4

      hamika731 yes and no. It was hard because, like with every new thing, there is a learning curve period you have to go through. That was probably the most difficult part but whenever I was completely lost (which happened a lot) I was able to ask my colleagues questions about it which helped IMMENSELY. (Lesson learned: never be afraid to ask for help) Also, the other thing that made it difficult wasn’t really the material (once I learned it) but the expectation from the employer/manager and other colleagues for you to be productive, produce work and show that you’re making progress. That expectation is a killer because if you’re unable to complete a task by a certain deadline, then it looks bad for you and your “reputation”. This makes sense because your are getting paid to work for that company but it’s still something I can’t stand because it can cause a lot unnecessary and unhealthy stress. But it’s all part of the job. Anyway hoped this helped! 🙃
