Wer hat dich, du schöner Wald? (Der Jäger Abschied) - Deutsches Jägerlied

Das Gedicht ,,Der Jäger Abschied" mit der Anfangszeile ,,Wer hat dich, du schöner Wald" veröffentlichte der deutsche Dichter Joseph von Eichendorff (1788-1857) im Jahr 1810. Es fand recht schnell Beachtung und wurde mehrfach vertont. Unter anderem von Franz Wilhelm Abt (1819-1885) nach Motiven von Mendelssohn-Bartholdy 1878 in ,,Lieder und Chöre für 3 Frauenstimmen mit Pianoforte" Heft 6, sowie dem Musikpädagogen und Komponisten Julius Stern (1820-1883) im Jahr 1841 und dem Komponisten Friedrich Nuhn.
Die bekannteste und bis heute meistgesungene Vertonung stammt jedoch von dem Pianisten und Komponisten Felix Mendelssohn Bartholdy(1809-1847), veröffentlicht 1841 in »Sechs Lieder für vierstimmigen Männerchor«.
Mit Mendelssohn’s Musik ist das Lied durch Männergesangsvereine durch ganz Deutschland und darüber hinaus bekannt und beliebt.
Gesungen und Gespielt wird die Version von Der Stuttgarter Liederkranz.

The poem ‘Der Jäger Abschied’ (Hunters farewell) with the opening line ‘Wer hat dich, du schöner Wald’ was published by the german poet Joseph von Eichendorff (1788-1857) in 1810. It quickly attracted attention and was set to music several times. Among others by Franz Wilhelm Abt (1819-1885) based on motifs by Mendelssohn-Bartholdy in 1878 in ‘Lieder und Chöre für 3 Frauenstimmen mit Pianoforte’ booklet 6, as well as by the music teacher and composer Julius Stern (1820-1883) in 1841 and the composer Friedrich Nuhn.
However, the best-known and still most frequently sung setting is by the pianist and composer Felix Mendelssohn Bartholdy (1809-1847), published in 1841 in ‘Sechs Lieder für vierstimmigen Männerchor’.
With Mendelssohn's music, the song is known and loved by male choral societies throughout Germany and beyond.
