What a gorgeous sounding locomotive!! I’m not 100% sure whether the sound is prototypical, but I’ve never been on a train hauled by a gas turbine locomotive.
Very nice all round, cracking loco and environs. But Tony, who passed that last coach as fit for the road/duty, it needs taking out immediately - although I note that runs better later in the film 😉👍😄🤔
Excellent video. What I appreciate is the very smooth running. Lots of layouts could do with improvements in this area. I have never liked artificial sound but that is personal. I have always thought that weighted rolling stock would improve the way they sound over the joints and points. That also depends on the build quality of the layout.
Yes, the layout is a work of art but I was disappointed with the jerky start and the racing car acceleration! Modern controllers can produce much smoother and more accurate performance than that. I wouldn't want to be travelling in that Gresley full brake at the rear either. THe GT must have been so amazingly alien to the railway at the time!
Basically the model GT3 needs that paraffin smell that 18000 used to leave after rushing through Old Oak Common on the Bristolian. Great model railway cheer’s
Tip my hat to KR Models. Looks amazing hauling a full size train on a prototypical layout like Little Bytham. Is that a miniature Tony on the end of the platform train spotting with his trusty camera?
two things...... 1st....new lap record for the (beautiful..) HST 125 1.0 GT3 (sounds a bit like a Porsche...) 2nd.....up to the moment where the train goes into the "fiddle yard" i used to think i might have a bit too much rolling stock........:-)....not any more....haha..... (and i do have a "lot".....:-)
Apart from knowing it existed, and a few photos, I know very little about this loco. Am I right in thinking it was destroyed in the tragedy at Harrow? Then Duke of Gloucester was built as a one off replacement.
One of those layouts that makes you wish you had more space. Beautiful !
Brilliant to see The GT3 with a nice big layout to run on!!!
Very nice all round..

and YES....it's a beautiful layout.....
It sounds like a proper steam locomotive rather than a gas one!!
Wonderful video
how did they get the sound for this model right? Cant be many people that remember.
For God's sake... detach that rear mail van and send it to the breakers before it causes a catastrophe! Nice video otherwise. Cheers.
some say...that at speeds above 125 mph, the shaking suddenly stops, and it runs as smooth as.....anything....:-)
wow stunning
What's the green engine in the top left corner at 0:03?

@@stratman9449 but a far better world....

I think that was the Turbomotive.
@@geoffjones6839 Yes it was, so I have the wrong one in mind. So now I know even less about this one, lol.
AFIK the frames of a withdrawn black five were used for the frames
@@wetcardie66 An oft-quoted rumour but not true. The frames were purpose-built and extraordinary thick to provide some additional weight.
It was scrapped at Cox and Danks @ Pendleton (Salford) B4 l got a chance to 'spot it'! Nice model though on a great layout.
Work at this station often shame most of it’s gone under horrid new housing
