Weve been on the drop shot for over a month in my neck of the woods. It has been the best year Ive ever had for walleye! Thanks for all the info Tom. Ive learned a ton of info from your videos.
That's the sign of a versatile(and smart) walleye fisherman, ready to try anything g/everything for the bite, btw, I love the way you laugh at the walleyes when you hook up
Awesome way to fish... love it. The only difference is that I let myself drift in the wind with a drift anchor. And I use a half nightcrawler as a bait. Killer technic
Used to watch a fishing show my grandfather was convinced there were divers underneath the boat hooking his fish up on the lures. Gramps wasn't a very good fisherman....
TB your split shot/bullet weight is shear genius! I love it! Love the technique and yes there are days where nothing works and you added another option to the repertoire!
Unreal technique, I fine tuned it last week up at Tobin lake,Sk. We weren’t even sharp shooting, we anchored up and were hammering walleyes. My hook was around 6-8” off bottom and was working great! My biggest of the week was 28”! Tom, to make the rig even easier pick up a pack of VMC spin shot hooks, two eyes with the hook free to spin around. Made specifically for drop shots. Thanks for all the videos
@@jaegek same with myself, I like it better than jigging, I like keeping the tension and feel every little nibble. Got down to using a 1/4 oz weight for it, got more fish the lighter I went.
Caught my first Walleye in 35 years in Georgian Bay. Used my newer fish Finder and bingo, first time I was actually focused on Walleye. In the past I was fishing for anything. Your tips and electronic tools help tremendously..thanks for all you do.
Dropshots are underrated...I typically back off from where I'm marking fish and cast the dropshot over where they're clustered, then reel in slowly with a jigging action which helps trigger bites. I'm not precise enough with my graphs/electronics to get right over walleyes and drop it straight down...always worry about spooking the fish especially in shallower depths. It's an effective method indeed and almost always works even when walleyes aren't biting on anything else. Works very well with 3-4 inch plastic minnow imitations whacky rigged onto the dropshot hook.
Just a quick note - love watching your vids. My family fished Winnie when I was younger, so seeing you work those northern lakes for walleye bring back good memories. And I'm now jonesing for a boat to pull up north...
I must say, u make fishing for walleyes look so easy and very fun to boot. I'm normally a bass lady but I've been venturing more into walleyes. They R to me a finicky fish but from watching ur videos, it gives me more excitement and anticipation that if u can do it, I can too. Infact, I have a 8' med. Light pole I have yet to get set up. I'm gunna get a nice reel and set it up with a drop shot. I have used that technique before and with great results though not with wallets mind u. But I do feel more optimistic now thanks to u. So thank u for ur great videos. Keep it up, cuz what ur doing is really working for u and am sure for ur audience too.
Hi Tom!! Could you please record a video on the electronics that you use and what you would recommend for electronics for different situations... Thanks!!!!
We ran into the same conditions on Rainy earlier this year with the mayfly hatch. Drop Shotting was the only technique that consistently put fish in the boat.
I was in Ely two weeks ago during a bug batch and the only way I could catch walleys was on the drop shot with a half crawler. Works easy for kids too.
I have been doing dropshot for crappie for a while now. I will need to try this when I get back up to northern Wisconsin. I just ordered a 1000 and 2000 and will be here tomorrow. Bought a 2000 early summer and worth the money.
Will have to try this one out! I was pulling spinners and were marking plenty of fish but couldn't seem to get them to bite. Next time I will know to give the drop shot method a try.
Tom, try a floating rapala with about 4 ft. Leader. Use a barrel sinker. Use a swivel & glass bead. Rapala will rise up about 2 ft. From the bottom. Seems to be working
Yo tommmy boy, been watching your videos for couple years now... all of em are great..... BUT haha can you put a camera on your sonar on a video like this and split screen the video... makes my heart race like I'm in the boat.... and I got a cabin in northern Minnesota on a deep Clear lake ...big walleyes and "cookie cutters"... right up your alley if your up for a challenge of a new body of water you, Shelby, and the dog, or mitch... but Shelby catches more fish... you got a nice place to stay for free at the house with access to a lot of lakes....
Palamar knot on the hook? What would be cool is to set up a camera on the graph so that the viewer could watch your interaction with the fish in real time. I'd happily watch a repetitive video on this presentation, without a doubt! Thanks for sharing! How's Mitchel these days? You gotta get his smiling face back in the boat with ya!
Great info as always I.d like to see you come down and fish with Larry Smith on Big Green!Hell I.d just like to see you fish Big Green multi species trip!
Man the Minnesota bite is tough! We spent the week at thunder lake mn. A few weeks ago. Caught two little walleye the whole week. Even went on a guided trip to cass lake and didn’t get anything. The water seemed way too clear. You could see 28’ down. We do better in Colorado on walleye then we did in walleye country haha
Up here northern Ontario ,we drop shot using a jig as the anchor depending on the bottom … I like using a plastic grub on a Mooneye jig 12- 16 inches below a live bait ,leach or wacky rigged crawler for ultra tough bites & minnows when they’re hungry .. 👍💙🇨🇦🎣
Great video thank you question what about using live scope with the drop shot also can you explain to me how your rig is set up I just can’t figure out the best way to catch walleye over here and it seems like that Live scope would be the easiest for Drop shoting ..
Good video. Wish I have watch this video first. didn't do well. Was trying the snap jigging for the eyes and my hyper rattle would wrap on the line. (why) does this happen
I fished their for a few hours saturday and sunday night. I caught a few on a dropshot and slip bobber but it was a grind. I talked to some guys at the access sunday night that said they hammered em pulling lead in the basin
I am betting that the smoke from the fires is coming from Canada. We have had a lot of fires as of late and have been living in that fog of smoke for a few weeks now. But the good news is it’s clearing up here so it should be clearing up there very soon
Drop shotting for eyes is not a bizarre way to fish. I do it all the time, and catch fish. it works especially well when in river systems. cold water situations it also works well. I catch alot of smallies too on drop shots. i keep one on all year, never take it off. its my go to bait. GO BUCKS!!
We catch big walleyes dropshotting while we livescopt spot lock. It's magnificent. The things I saw from your videos made me a better fisherman. I take into account on that. Your hyper rattle is similar to our Johnny darter. I'm from quebec and that's what I'm finding for a jigging rap rattle combo
I run into the big girls on Mille Lacs when the wind really picks up and it gets overcast and you're struggling to stay anchored. They come up on the rocks.
All your equipment is nice and all but I would not fish that way myself #1 my wife would kill me if I even dare to spend that much LOL. I know the lake that I am on and only have a $100 unit I use just to find some fish but works for me very well, catch walleye all the time (my house is only 1/2 mile from Lake Erie). Nice Video and thanks for your info .
Can anyone tell me what knot is best to use when attaching your leader? Alberto? Or should I just use a barrel swivel and pay attention when reeling? I have mono to fluoro
My favorite walleye lake is infested with bruiser bluegills. Hard to get through them with a drop shot leech to catch eyes, at least on all of the obvious "walleye" structure. Might have to get away from those places and just roam around the shallower basin in 28'-35' and try to find small rock piles or humps. Many times those area hold the big perch too. Not necessarily a bad problem to have.
I'm been fishing for 50 years and you keep teaching me new things
I went back to the traditional drop shot weight and your right, my self esteem has soared.
You are the GOAT for walleye man never seen anything like it on RUclips.
Dude! I applied the drop shot method as you described it and had immediate success. Thank you for ending my walleye drought!

"Get a regular bell sinker and you guys will feel much better about yourselves." Lol I love your sense of humor.
Ahaha same 😂
I'm starting to think you hired these walleyes
Used to watch a fishing show my grandfather was convinced there were divers underneath the boat hooking his fish up on the lures. Gramps wasn't a very good fisherman....
Those fish are definitely paid actors! 😉
@@nj649 What TF
Next time try ned rig 😉
Hope everyone knows I'm joking lol. I watch a lot of Tom's videos. Very knowledgeable guy in my honest opinion.

was just about to ask if he ever spin shots. thats been my go to presentation this summer.

Daaaang, that was smooth! The pre-voice over of the screenshot with the editing in post was perfect. Great job finding the effective method!
Thanks for sharing all your Walleye knowledge it has helped us catch fish and have more fun fishing being successful
I like the split shot trick below the weight to adjust quickly.
Excellent perseverance brought you a bunch of nice eaters.

Great tip on the drop shot. Wouldn’t have thought of it but great presentation! Hooked Up Fish On !
Fantastic presentation-for the walleyes and us!👊🏻
Hi Tom!! Could you please record a video on the electronics that you use and what you would recommend for electronics for different situations... Thanks!!!!
Thanks Tom, another great video! Love all the info. You never can have too many tricks for the “eyes”!
Thanks for reviewing your set up. That really helps. Great video !
Can’t wait to try this on the Chip! Another great video Tom!
We ran into the same conditions on Rainy earlier this year with the mayfly hatch. Drop Shotting was the only technique that consistently put fish in the boat.
What a great morning treat!
Love the drop shot! Such an effective multi-species tactic!
Great video. Sweet Boat! Love Walleye Fishing! We just did a video on Walleye Fishing at Cedar Point next to the roller coasters in Sandusky!
Excellent stuff Tom!

Cool. I drop-shot for bass on occasion and haven't seen any walleye action while doing that. I'll have to try it more on Hayward's big clear lakes.
I definitely enjoyed watching it Tom I learned some things too. Another great video, thanks man
Just like ice fishing without the ice
Awesome video. I'm heading up to Mille Lacs at the end of this month. Certainly going to give the drop shot a try. Thank you.
Interesting method to fish. Never done it this way but will give it a try next time.
Tom, try a floating rapala with about 4 ft. Leader. Use a barrel sinker. Use a swivel & glass bead. Rapala will rise up about 2 ft. From the bottom. Seems to be working
Are you Carolina rigging the rapala? Approximately how much weight are you using? Interesting idea!
Great content and new technique Could you do a video on stained or tannic lakes under 700 acres chasing walleyes Thanks for all you do great stuff
Like the way you rig the weight. Be able to change the depth without making knots every time ,very nice hook 🆙
Great video love it !! Love drop shotting use it a lot were I fish, finally watched you doing this .
That’s my favorite way fish live bait drop shot with a little liquid fish attracter I’ve had for year I keep adding to.
Great information..as always !
Nice work tom.
Great as always . Do you feel walleyes are motor shy or not .
I have forever wondered when you would use the drop shot technique vs a slip-bobber rig!
Tom Can you show how you tie your down rigging . i have never used the technique and whe I google it seems there are various opinions Thanks
Great video! Always happy to see you put out a new video! Thanks for sharing!

great videos - but where do i find the discount codes you mentioned? I don't see them anywhere

Hey Tom could you do a video on reading contours?
8:40 is why I watch you 100%
What brand of floura carbon do you use
Always wondered on your sharp shooting slip bobber videos why not dropshot. Seems like it gets down faster and no messing with bobber stops/depth
Hazy here in Niagara on Lake Ontario and Erie too, crazy.
Love the videos Tim, very dialed!

You Spotlock right away once you see em' on Down imaging, Tom? Not sure if you mentioned it in the video.
yep. You can do it without spotlock but you have to stay on that pedal and watch your gps
I guess the drop shot was originally a walleye technique? So I’ve heard from Bass guys !
Great teacher !
How fast are you trolling?
Works great . You been watching Clayton?

Palomar

A slight shaking of rod tip rather than the up down for really finicky fish 👍
We are on them right now winnebago...11pm. 12 ftow
