- More than 100 mourners attended the funeral of 4-year-old Liza Dmytriyeva in the central Ukrainian Ukrainian city of Vinnytsia. Liza, who had Down syndrome, was killed in a missile strike on central Vinnytsia on July 14 that killed 24 people.

This is what happened with the countries in the XX century, invaded and occupied under fascism and under communism. It's beyond painful that this still happens in XXI century and in countries that already fought and won their independence from the russians of the USSR or serbs of Yugoslavia.

The mother is still in the ICU and didn’t get to attend, I’m fairly certain. They just showed a video of her when they told her. They waited because they thought the news would kill her. She cried out “how many times did we beg you to close the sky?”

Doc in paradise NYT's one day old report on the funeral says the mother is still unconscious, so she definitely didn't say anything about closing the sky and the claim that they didn't tell her because it would kill her is probably a misrepresentation. they haven't told her because she's still unconscious. though I suppose it is possible that they are keeping her under general anaesthesia at least in part because the doctors decided that that's safer than having her wake up and then probably find out that her daughter is dead because it would be difficult to lie to her.

the saddest part is her mother wasn't there she is fighting for her life in intensive care and doesnt even know Liza is gone.(doctors dont tell her so she doesnt die from grief.and on her requests to hand her the phone they we instructed to say :"we are not allowed to carry phones at work.

there are good people in russia too, russians are just very well trained to believe or at least not challenge government lies. they live in an alternate reality like people in many other dictatorships have. though it does of course require a rather large effort of willful ignorance to believe that russia has invaded ukraine to defend itself against likely attacks from the much smaller and weaker ukraine. well, I suppose that lie was good enough in nazi germany, too (for the invasion of poland).
