@@snowe.. Missed my point entirely. The odd TOTD are on the first of the month which players know are going to be different. This map was just straight up disappointing lol
StealthJT has a point... COTD maps are very difficult for 'average' players to run 'fast' because there is usually only 'one good line'. If you can't hit it you're off the map or in the mud.
And it's not difficult to do something more enjoyable... real life race tracks have plenty of examples on how to throw you off balance and into a bad line that forces braking or puts you in the barriers. No need for trackmania to drop a player from the 2nd floor to make a point 😅 If the consequence of a mistake is a ruined run time, let the olayer decide if they reset or continue... Bad map designs unfortunately make the game very little welcoming to new players =/
My only counter point would be maybe putting another pyramid or two in the distance would have broken up the horizon a bit, but besides that yeah its pretty spot on
As a newbie trackmania player I really liked it for the same reason others have said. It felt like I could actually drive it fast without being punished harshly. It was fun figuring out lines
it felt kinda vindictive...? It reminded me alot of the 92bob fiasco but instead of riolu getting villified more than needed (the infamous "this creates a haunting picture of riolu sitting in his room..." line as an example), it's these people who just hated his funny videogame map being pictured as some evil discord goblins who want him to toaster bath or something. I still like Wirtual (I literally watch every video) and on stream he seems like a nice person but it does also seem like he holds grudges when people wrong him. @@rFey I just thought it was kinda funny because almost no one can be sure who those "haters" really are, and with the tone of voice he was using, you can tell it's just all fun and games, no hard feelings. Also just the roast lines are funny to me as well.

But I was compelled to come back and watch more. And when Pyramidori hit I found myself excited like for some sporting event. That was so unexpected but now I just can't deny it any more, I flippin love this whole trackmania thing. And today I'm happy to become a proud subscriber. Also the desert scenery is beautiful, don't let them get to you. Unless the criticism is gonna drive you insane to the point of sliding in mayonnaise across the flor, in that case what a boring map.
Just because a minority of the people who played the map voted on the map on another platform, and a majority of those who voted dislike it, it does not mean that most people dislike it, it means that most of that minority dislike it. Also, as you mentioned, people usually only say something is good/bad when they have strong opinions about it, especially when they think it's bad.
Yeah and that minority was louder than usual for a TOTD being disappointing, hence why its more prevalent. Most people watching this video who like the track havent even driven on it, or play TM to begin with lmao.

Nice map and compilation. In fact there was a town just near the pyramid, at its foot, it wasn't empty like it's now, it just disappeared with time. There were brick houses, artisans, etc. There are archeologic works about that.

I legit thought ppl down voted this map just to meme. Not even maliciously or having anything against wirtual, but just becuase getting wirtual's map to 'worst of all time' would be funny.
If anyone knows Maple Valley Raceway, Pyramidori is like the first corner. There's 7 different ways to tackle it. Most COTD maps are like the last corner. Either you nail it or you die or at best you lose three seconds.
I agree with wirtual that this map is beginner friendly - you still need skills to play it well, but a beginner can at least finish a run without like, flying off into the void every turn. It feels good as a beginner player to drive a map like this where you can complete a run and work on improving.
If Scrapie is second (I think), you are the biggest Trackmania content creator by an order of mangnitude. Whenever someone has that much influence in a community, people love to hate.
wow how far he's come I remember a time where he was embarrassed to admit that he's obsessed with pyramids on youtube and now it's in the intro of the video
I heard so much about how TM community is "wholesome and friendly". Looks like it's spiteful and toxic just like any other online gaming community. Wirtual made a fun and unique map which I enjoyed driving very much. I will surely remember this map out of hundreds of other generic and formulaic daily maps. I would join that discord (or wherever voting took place) and cast my positive vote, but after seeing how that community behaves I don't even want to be a part of it.
It's only toxic towards literally the biggest streamer, given that audience expectations get higher the more attention you get, as well as the fact that the more negative members of a community usually go after the biggest targets. You'll usually see this if the biggest content creators in a community aren't also at the very peak performance-wise; Wirtual's really good - heck, he's very near the top, but there are just too many other high-profile players that will beat him 9/10 times (and a few that will beat him 99/100 in the majority of styles). willg9106 a few comments below yours said it best: "[Wirtual's the biggest] TM content creator by an order of magnitude. Whenever someone has that much influence in a community, people love to hate."
I have been on tm discord for many years and mostly made friendly encounters. Sure there are some spiteful people (there always will be), but it's a minority. Most criticisms I read on discord were valid (positives and negatives). Most people are helpful as well. TM Discords are not TM Reddit.
Agreed. Was really apalling when one of the streamers went "maybe he was cheating again". Using an analog keyboard is just a step towards eliminating advantages and disadvantages between the different controllers, as currently keyboard is awful compared to controller and steering wheel. Toxic dev team that promotes toxic behaviour.
i love wirtual and madori 1. just an honest critique of my thoughts. map was hyped for 2 yeas and turned out to be an a-01. for people that spend 1000 hours on a racing line they probably liked it more. the scenery is "realistically boring" but what is realistic about an f1 car riding on the side of a pyramid with a cactus(apparently cactusies are not real, idk i am not a pyramid racing major) about 15 feet away from the pyramid, there is nothing. its a black hole of sand. did people in ancient egypt build pyramids to desert them? because it looks to be deserted
Although I´ve never played and probably I won´t play TM, I enjoy your content and enjoyed watching the videos of this map. I think it´s great! Good concept, nice environment and you took the blow as a pro that it was short-cutted! As a spectator it felt much better than the "usual" TM Track of the Days where you can touch the walls at any given second and been out of comp.
this skewed pyramid driveway has given me ideas for making a skewed plane map. basically a normal flat track but on a slanted plane. or maybe i use two slanted planes and have a few angle changing crossovers? well, even if i try out the ideas, i don't have the creativity to make anything i am actually satisfied with anyways. i hope i will see more slanted tack based maps in the future.~
I feel like wirutal of all people, given how obsessed he is about the Pyramids, should know that when built the pyramids where actually much much closer to the banks of the Nile than they are today and the area would have been much greener than it now is.
The wide-open spaces made it very forgiving for newer players. It also made it so that the pros had to try many different lines in order to find what was quickest. That makes it a great cup of the day map.
You're not into puzzle games but Islands of Insight has a double pyramid (aka rhombus) as one of its end game areas. It is a gorgeous game and it does a pretty cool thing with the interior of this double pyramid, too. Maybe you can take some inspiration and do a freaky floating double pyramid for your next map where the bottom side is magnet and the top part is used to access the inside? xD
I think hyping it as Midori 2 just set false expectations that the sequel would be a follow up to Midori in terms of style - full speed, bobsleigh, with highly technical parts. Pyromidori was a fun concept, and fitting knowing your obsession for the pyramids.. but the map was so far from Midori style that people’s expectations were let down.
@@imagzz4942 it's because pros knows how to respect a good map when they see it, others get too caught up in there own expectations they let it ruin good maps
@@Deadlyspark I agree and get that, but @BOOMDIGGER was saying that it was "far from the quality of Midori 1", but I think pros can judge that best, and they said it was actually a well built map, so his point doesn't really make sense. It's just haters hating or bad players not enjoying it simply because it's different or doesn't have wild scenery, when in fact it is actually a good and different map style.
He built the rough route on stream, so not sure why you were expecting anything different. Also he's said multiple times that he isn't a fan of bobsleigh only maps anymore.
God dahmn, My man really coming in with the giant pool to collect the tears from seething people who cant take a switchup. My man went hard on that one.
It's really lame how negative the general playerbase is in the Trackmania community. Then again, it's the same everywhere. Great map, fun competition. Was a great community event.
It's the same with any online community - they always go one of two ways. Either they spiral into negativity by ensuring anyone who is positive leaves (or gets banned), or they do the opposite and anyone who is negative (or even slightly critical) leaves/gets banned, meaning the only thing anyone is allowed to do is unending praise.
So nice of wirtual using his bigger audience to expose some of the other streamers, for example, i like samifyings vibe too, i might check him out soon, thx for that wirt!
the low rating is because of all the salty mfs who couldnt comprehend why their placement was so bad compared to other COTDs because this one specifically had 3x the normal playercount 😂
Have not driven the map yet but looks fun. And I agree with the idea that a lot of cotd Maps seem to have just One perfect way to drive it or you crash. For that reason I really don't like transitional style Maps. Sure, Once you get a good run it feels Great and smooth. But most of my time is not spent learning and perfecting my route while slowly be coming Faster, but instead spent trying to reach the finish in the First place, and Once I get a run without crash or clip it's immediately a really fast run because it's the only way to drive the map. Usually more frustrating than fun
I for one, would not have been able to get over the hypocrisy of ruling a single input strategy unfair while allowing literally every other input method with the only 1 exception. I think it's a very positive and mature thing to put out. Letting everyone know "this is what it was supposed to be, lets all move on and be happy" even when you were the one to get screwed over is very cool. Well played
While Pyramidori had more minus votes than any other track it’s a bit disingenuous to say it’s the worst rated ever. The Track DeFrost released in the same month and had 38% less players, but it had only 4% less minus votes. Pyramidori also had a 137% increase in positive votes compared to DeFrost. The Discord bot score reflects this with DeFrost receiving a -2.4 score vs Pyramidori receiving a -1.9 score.
Also in my experience playing and making content for Trackmania as well as using this voting system constantly, the voting tends to skew negative more so now than ever and the voting in my opinion is consistently 1 tier off. So a Minus Minus rated track according to the bots score, such as Pyramidori, the actual rating it deserved would probably be a minus. Streamers also just don’t shit tracks so saying streamers thought it was alright but the discord goblins came out to just vote the track negative is just cope. If a track is overtly bad, voting does increase and it’s not just for you. Not trying to be a hater, just trying to bring more facts to the table, as I have probably seen and used this rating system more than anyone.

Being on r/Trackmania and reading the comments, it's like there's only haters down there. I had a lot of fun playing the map on my first ever COTD after 5 months playing, and had fun grinding it afterwards. Tbh i don't understand why do people downvote an excellent and fun map like that. Waiting for the next one :)
If thats your first COTD then you have nothing to compare it to from your own playtime. It was a disappointing map :(
@@Ethiixxyou really gonna say "no you didn't" when someone says they enjoyed the map?
@@noahtekulve2684 ??? Thats not what I was saying at all, they can like it all they want but compared to the standard expected for TOTD it was dissapointing. Learn to read instead of being a drone fanboy bro. Do you play TM?
@@Ethiixxlol what. It was a great map. The fact that people can normally “pick out” what a totd looks like really goes to show how absolutely boring cotd has gotten. Wirt’s track is a breath of fresh air.
@@snowe.. Missed my point entirely. Maps with good flow, pathmaking, scenery and style of track is what makes a good TOTD, It doesnt "go to show" anything other than how narrow minded youre being thinking that this is TOTD material.
The odd TOTD are on the first of the month which players know are going to be different. This map was just straight up disappointing lol
Granady playing in first person with a wheel is pretty sick.
Dude's a legend
StealthJT has a point... COTD maps are very difficult for 'average' players to run 'fast' because there is usually only 'one good line'. If you can't hit it you're off the map or in the mud.
And it's not difficult to do something more enjoyable... real life race tracks have plenty of examples on how to throw you off balance and into a bad line that forces braking or puts you in the barriers.
No need for trackmania to drop a player from the 2nd floor to make a point 😅
If the consequence of a mistake is a ruined run time, let the olayer decide if they reset or continue...
Bad map designs unfortunately make the game very little welcoming to new players =/

My only counter point would be maybe putting another pyramid or two in the distance would have broken up the horizon a bit, but besides that yeah its pretty spot on
I'd imagine some of the downvotes were just from it being a map made by a major streamer - there are too many people who would do that.
Stealth’s take on track lines is 100% facts. Ive thought the same thing since i started playing
The cut is fun and looks cool, deepens the story, win win!

Pyro & Wirtual both suffer from MCD - Main Channel Dysfunction
Whos pyro?
Oh pyrocynical, yeah makes sense
As a newbie trackmania player I really liked it for the same reason others have said.
It felt like I could actually drive it fast without being punished harshly. It was fun figuring out lines
yes many mappers put to short straights into their maps causing you to be unable to just play and finish it

That killed me 😂
it felt kinda vindictive...?
It reminded me alot of the 92bob fiasco but instead of riolu getting villified more than needed (the infamous "this creates a haunting picture of riolu sitting in his room..." line as an example), it's these people who just hated his funny videogame map being pictured as some evil discord goblins who want him to toaster bath or something.
I still like Wirtual (I literally watch every video) and on stream he seems like a nice person but it does also seem like he holds grudges when people wrong him. That it's happened twice now is pretty strange, but idk I don't know the guy personally, nor do I want it to seem like i can accurately psychoanalyze an mf youtuber like some parasocial freak so take all of this with copious amounts of grains of salt.
@@rFey I just thought it was kinda funny because almost no one can be sure who those "haters" really are, and with the tone of voice he was using, you can tell it's just all fun and games, no hard feelings. Also just the roast lines are funny to me as well.

You know what? I consistently watch this channel for couple of month now without subscribing. I thought TM is such a niche and weird thing and good only for having on background when falling asleep.
7:05 GEOMETRY DASH GUY LMAO god bless GD this game is amazing
Just because a minority of the people who played the map voted on the map on another platform, and a majority of those who voted dislike it, it does not mean that most people dislike it, it means that most of that minority dislike it. Also, as you mentioned, people usually only say something is good/bad when they have strong opinions about it, especially when they think it's bad.
Yeah and that minority was louder than usual for a TOTD being disappointing, hence why its more prevalent. Most people watching this video who like the track havent even driven on it, or play TM to begin with lmao.
I mean the map is pretty bad to be honest. That might just be the reason for the bad rating.
@@nephastgweiz1022what's bad about it?

@@BOOMDIGGER Seems like your gripes with it are purely subjective.
I like maps with no clear style (baffles me how people can play this game for so many years and hold so religiously to their styles), thought it was the perfect length for cotd, the path was clearer to me than most totd maps. Of the last 10 totd maps I've played I'd put this 2nd or 3rd

Ahahahahhaha Salty Discord Goblins! Amazing work, Wirt.
Nice map and compilation.
In fact there was a town just near the pyramid, at its foot, it wasn't empty like it's now, it just disappeared with time.
There were brick houses, artisans, etc. There are archeologic works about that.
"Has anyone pulled off the cut? Uh, we are in Div 37." lol
I have never played Trackmania, but I love your content either way. In fact, after watching so much of your other content, this one got me really curious because even the title got question marks popping up in my mind. Seems there will always be those who don't like good things because they're not flashy enough.
Keep on doing what you love and stay true to yourself.
"anybody pull it off? no, bro. we are in div 37" lmao
Wirt spiting flames at the end😂😂
I legit thought ppl down voted this map just to meme. Not even maliciously or having anything against wirtual, but just becuase getting wirtual's map to 'worst of all time' would be funny.
Seeing some (not all) of these streamers makes me glad I watch Wirtual.
100%
I'm glad your going to make more maps. I really enjoyed your pyramid.
wow how far he's come
I remember a time where he was embarrassed to admit that he's obsessed with pyramids on youtube
and now it's in the intro of the video
Toxic dev team that promotes toxic behaviour.
i love wirtual and madori 1. just an honest critique of my thoughts.
map was hyped for 2 yeas and turned out to be an a-01. for people that spend 1000 hours on a racing line they probably liked it more.
the scenery is "realistically boring" but what is realistic about an f1 car riding on the side of a pyramid with a cactus(apparently cactusies are not real, idk i am not a pyramid racing major)
about 15 feet away from the pyramid, there is nothing. its a black hole of sand.
did people in ancient egypt build pyramids to desert them? because it looks to be deserted

Broooo he went all out at the end
I feel like wirutal of all people, given how obsessed he is about the Pyramids, should know that when built the pyramids where actually much much closer to the banks of the Nile than they are today and the area would have been much greener than it now is.
I wanted to see someone explore the tunnels! lol
*Makes map based on empty desert*
Community: “Why is the map an empty desert”
Now thats the attitude i didnt know i needed from Wirt, but i am glad i got it ^^
The wide-open spaces made it very forgiving for newer players. It also made it so that the pros had to try many different lines in order to find what was quickest. That makes it a great cup of the day map.
Swedish streamer achieving what no one else can
You're not into puzzle games but Islands of Insight has a double pyramid (aka rhombus) as one of its end game areas.
Also far from the Quality of Midori 1, no matter what excuses the fanboys make
@@BOOMDIGGER You say that yet most of the pros actually enjoyed it and thought the route was well made, so how does that make sense?

Many people in the community love to hate on him because they still consider him a cheater.

That knitted sweater is fantastic, love the "clouds from space" vibe.
