Another interesting delay is the Dan Electro PB&J. The older ones use a PT2395, the big brother of the PT2399. It didn't have onboard RAM, which allowed you to really stuff it with RAM, which gave the circuit a lot more resolution and longer delay times, compared to the PT2399.
Later, they went to an ATMEGA88 with a 24-bitADC/DAC IC and an SRAM chip. Pretty cool design on both.
The PB&J is incredibly underrated. Also when voltage sagged gives a tweaked pds 20/20 a run for its money in regards to really long, absolutely disgusting sounding delay times.
I love my Soundtank Flanger! Makes for a great faux Leslie!
In my quest to get a Em5, I bought a Dl5. And it sounds fantastic as well. I took it apart, it’s interesting. It has the M50195p. It sounds great.
Great job! 👍🏼🎸😊
Always a great watch and LEARN. Thank you Joe! I did notice a slight difference between the two. The ibanez sounded slightly cleaner? I’m a new to this and this channel is so deluxe!
The EM5 is an interesting circuit, there’s a soft clipping opamp gain stage (basically a tube screamer) built into the pedal!
Hi, just saw your channel. Interesting stuff. I have an Ibanez PDM 1 . When I plug the cable in , it modulates in quick loudness in steps to really loud delay noise. But after about 20 minutes. It’s functional. There’s some white noise there as well. Of course I don’t expect you to troubleshoot , or not even an answer . If It’s capacitors,? cause that’s pretty much all I can change. With my basic knowledge.thanks , from Berlin
Feels like capacitors yes. Also maybe a dying battery?
@@graybenchelec hey thanks for writing. There’s no battery in it. Except the back up battery, which is soldered to the board. It’s an interesting pedal. It’s like a rack system in a pedal. But anyway, thank you for your reply. Any more info you wanna share with me that’s great. I’ll let you know if I fixed it. I’m gonna try.
Would love to hear a sound demo of each of your teardowns. I don’t think most of us are here for extensive guitar demonstrations, but it would be great to hear a simple demo of what these pedals can do - especially the more obscure ones. I really appreciated the demo section of this vid, so thanks!
It’s something I’ve considered, I tend to stay away from that because;
1) there’s plenty of channels doing pedal demos
2) it’s a pain to set up the recording gear
3) I’m kinda shit at guitar
But who knows, if I streamline my setup maybe someday :)
Dead end FX pcb for your Diy?
Looks like Aion - got a couple I'm waiting to build.
i have one but the enclosure is in a really bad state, im planning to rehouse but i don't know if is going to fit into a 1590bb, any recomendation ?
I think it should fit in 1590BB yes, but if you're concerned you could get a 1590BBS, which is a bit deeper.
What is so special about this M65831 echochip? Which guitarist use this pedal
Apparently Dave Phillips of LA Sound Design thinks this is a great pedal. Whether that should matter to you is another question: ruclips.net/video/IoQ0dxfzh_c/видео.html
@@graybenchelec Dave Phillips is just a salesman? I don't think any bands/guitarist use the ibanez EMS that I know of but I wonder if Dave Phillips knows which ones use them?
@@waynegram8907 it's another pedal that no one has really used within the famous realm (outside the above youtube personality I've never heard of) but has increased in price just because it sounds really good. Like they've never been cheap. Even a few years after they were discontinued they were already going for $150 on the used market. Yes you could find them cheap at pawn shops if you could find them.
Oh and the relative rarity of them. Like you don't see a lot of the later Soundtracks around all that often.
Are you selling these clones?
I am not, but Aionfx sells the PCBs. aionfx.com/project/elysium-ambient-delay/
