Er hat uns allen wohlgetan,
den Blinden gab er das Gesicht,
Die Lahmen macht’ er gehend,
Er sagt’ uns seines Vaters Wort,
Er trieb die Teufel fort,
Betrübte hat er aufgericht’,
Er nahm die Sünder auf und an,
Sonst hat mein Jesus nichts getan.
Aus Liebe will mein Heiland sterben,
Von einer Sünde weiß er nichts,
Dass das ewigen Verderben
und die Strafe des Gerichts
Nicht auf meiner Seele bliebe.
ENGLISH
He has done good to us all,
Gave sight to the blind,
Made the lame walk,
Gave us his Father's word,
Drove out the devil,
Lifted up the depressed,
He has taken up and taken on the sinner,
Other than this, He has done nothing.
It is of love that my Saviour wants to die,
He knows nothing of any sin,
So that eternal decay
and the punishment of the final judgement
will not weigh upon my soul.
