Those lines are freaking crisp! Great video! I'm about 6 months into the business and love it. I started with a titan 850 and was having so much trouble getting crisp lines. Found an old airlessco surestripe 3300 and it freaking rocks! Great job boys
Just wondering your 850 titan. The only reason you don't get crispy lines it's because of the tires they're not air tires they're plastic but if you change the tires on it and still have the machine balanced shouldn't be a problem just wondering by the way I just started this business first year hopefully everything goes well
If you slide you gun in closer to the machine and in line with the axis of the front tire everything will be way more rigid and you can move twice that fast. Being inline with the front tire makes your line width more consistent in width.
Snapping a line would’ve been much quicker and straighter, crayon grease will be there for awhile and you’ll save a lot of paint dropping the pressure when painting stencils better yet using a 113 tip
You kicked the gun out and lined the hood up straight. Better to see, I like that. Looked like a 3900 ? With probably fast set oil? Everything looked great, your starts, alinement on the old line. I’ve been striping for an airport for 10 years. And I’m wanting to get out and do parking lots. We only use latex at the airport so I’m unfamiliar with laying down oil. I’ve seen some new lines in my area that was put down with oil on new asphalt and they have this light over spray on both sides. Curious if that’s common with the new asphalt being so black, maybe not noticeable on older asphalt. I’m training my daughter to stripe so we can work together in this business. I’ve picked up a graco 3400 to get started with. So I have oil in the machine teaching her. I’m also getting just a little over spray with the oil. Using a 319 with just under 1500 psi. Any tips for painting on new asphalt. We haven’t done any jobs yet still getting some stuff together like a pressure washing set up and looking to be ready for next spring. Again it all looked good 👍🏻
Are you using water based or acetone based paint? If you're using water base you definitely have to strain it.. if using acetone base let your tips sit in a container with acetone in it when you are not using them
Very surprised the customer didn't sealcoat the parking lot before the re stripe but every ones trying to save money these days.. that striper is awesome especially with the drive motor
Great point, in an ideal world we would always be doing a nice fresh stripe over sealcoat, but people don't always want that they just want new paint because it's cheaper.
hello sir how are you my name is mamun i have been working in lane marking company for last 13 years in singapore i wish i will go to canada to do this job i am very happy to see your work thank you
@@coastpave Enamel perhaps? I’m trying to get started and I read somewhere that non water based paints were better for painting over existing lines. So I’m hesitant to use latex paint.
go find some apartments or duplexes with faded parking lines, then go and engage the front office and tell them you have a special going on for only today lol....
We have a system built that takes into account material cost, labor, drive time, etc. You can just do an hourly bid, like if something will take 3 hours, just bid it based on a 3 hour job and try to cover all expenses, overhead, etc.
We did not, customer didn’t want anything but a restripe - and if we pressure wash, we have to wait untill the pavement dries and turns into a much bigger job. Often not worth the $$ to the customer
My only suggestion would have been to lay a tarp down behind your truck where you are setting up the sprayer and doing clean up. Otherwise, amazing work.
Its a GREAT addition to a business, the painting buggy's aren't too expensive and there is certainly a need for pavement markings. You can't stripe if its too cold or wet..... being in Oregon that's tough, but where you guys are you get less rain than us and your springs tend to be a little nicer. I would say its May-October with some other time frames sprinkled in there
You guys are wasting so much time and paint by riding on the machine for single lines.. I do striping in Delaware I only use the ride on to do huge parking lots or roadways.. been in the business for 20 years just my advice
@@clkirk70 no douchebag but it's easier to line the machine up while walking than on the ride on. I run a striping business and time is money. I think I would know which one is quicker
@@spencerevenhouse8175 we charge by the foot and depending on material cost you'll know how much to charge.. depends on the scope of work though as some lots are entirely more complicated than others.. also you have to think about the layout aspect which takes the most time on each job
Sorry, pal - you can take all the time in the world to line up them stripes, but if you don't freakin' clean the asphalt ahead of time, you'll have perfectly striped dirt, which is what we see here. You tell me at 2:28 - 2:31 of this video if there's no freshly painted dirt on that line.
Thanks for commenting, Pal - in an ideal world we can clean the pavement using machines, apply sealcoat and then do a new paint job. In this instance they just wanted stripes as we would be sealcoating it and/or restriping it in the very near future - so we didn't use cleaning machines, we just used our blower and a wire push broom to clean the cline. There is no *loose dirt being painted in this video.
@@coastpave Yeah, i was told to only quote striping on a dirty lot, and I sent an email before the quote going over points of detail and one thing I did mention was I will brush off the lines before painting, but it wont be the same as a full clean. But its up to them as long as I let them know what to expect. I am hoping they will pay for a pressure wash, but its their money.
Our striper snaps chalk lines to mark the end lines, and sometime to mark center line to stripe if its hard to see the existing lines! It's much more useful after we sealcoat and have difficulty seeing the lines, if its just a restripe we don't typically do doo much chalking.
You have a rider not only so that you don’t have to push the machine but also so that you can use a bigger tip. Like 325 so you can go faster. This guy is going way to slow.
It must be soo painful for these guys to know how much hard work, design, and concentration was needed to make the Disabled badge...... just for any Tom, Dick or Harry to come and park in it
Those lines are clean! Obviously very experienced being able to make those lines on target like that 💪
They are really good, I can't do it like them - espeically on the buddy, I've walked some lines, but they are fast and precise.

What a beautiful day you were able to enjoy while you worked! The weather looks perfect!
Should've got rid of the moss and loose asphalt first?

Great skills. Wondering at what pressure you using the linelazer. Not quite sure why my lines are not that sharp. Thanks

I agree, snapping a line would have been better - I will pass this onto our striper, although we stencil pretty thick so it lasts longer.
Pretty sure that the handicap parking symbols have to be blue paint including the parking lines.
nope
I'm curious.. do you have to clean the area first for the paint to stick?

How do u chose the quality of paint that stays longer ?
What tip do you run and how high off ground is your tip

Not trying to be negative but you should be lined up before you ever get the line and maybe you should put a gun on the left side also
Ada code is if there is no blue background the handicap person has to be blue
Oregon ADA standards call for the handicap stencil to be either yellow or white paint with the blue background optional.
Local ADA regulations are different everywhere. A white stencil with no box is perfectly fine in plenty of cities.
