this channel is the best, i really liked this moto race video it was one of the several Playstation 1 games that i played a lot, what a good memory i miss that childhood time on my ps1
Well, I'm impressed. I dug this thing out of a collection of PS1 games my older cousin gave to me back when I was about 8 or 9, just recently. This game was like a fever dream. Some games are difficult, but some feel like an actual job. Motoracer was like Pac-Man World Rally, but if it was stuck on NIGHTMARE difficulty, all the shortcuts were removed, and all the maps were a rendition of the factory. How is a human being actually expected to beat the great wall of china level where the bots are glued to the ground and never lose any momentum? This entire game is on par with the water level from the old ninja turtles game.
Darn how I played this game. I played a lot of motorcross races since they were easier, but when I managed to drive superbikes without crashing every 10 yards it was like hell. I found superbike mode much more entertaining. The only downside was the fact that 2 player mode didn't have cpu oponents, just you and your friend racing alone.
I used to play the 2nd game of this franchise a lot when I was a kid, I tried like 1 year ago in an android device with a generic bluethooth controler but I couldn't get the handle of it, maybe I should try again now that I can use a PS3 or a Xbox 360 controller on my laptop
I love the quality you get out of these old racing games. Mind if I ask a couple of questions? These games played in 4:3 originally, and these videos are 16:9. Whilst the 2D HUD overlay looks stretched wide, the game does not. Is the emulator in normal proportions and then rendering more on the left and right to fill the extra widescreen space? I.e. are we seeing more of the game on the left and the right than you would do with the original PS1 version? Or am I just crazy and it is only 4:3 stretched to 16:9.
Not the person you asked for, but yes, the game is, in fact, rendered in 16:9 proper. Beetle PSX HW (as well as DuckStation) has a widescreen hack that can be applied to any game. The results may vary, and 2D parts are unaffected (so most 2D rendered game won't work), but for those games which is rendered in 3D, it generally works well. There's also PGXP which helps removing the wobbly graphics 3D PS1 games have.

With the upgrades or fixes the emulator does, you can barely tell this game is a PS1 game.

Sega was an absolute mess during those couple of years. Even the PC ports were so shoddy. No wonder it got demolished.
