@@mikecabral2420 I think I read that something happened a bit later on when one of the valets was being harassed by the Horseman so Sting gave her a can of mace in case they attacked her during a match he was in. This really started the whole mythos of "Sting trusts a heel who has "turned face" and pays for it in the end".
I mean, literally, how many times did this happen to Sting?
Heel: Hey Sting, we should *totally* team up to fight those other heels! I've seen the light!
Sting: What do you think, fans? Should I trust him and team up with him?
    Fans: No!
Sting: Ok! Heel, let's team up!

The best thing about the whole thing was Lex Luger's heel turn. Anybody that hasn't watched this run of Lex from this point to about the time of Uncensored 96 needs to check out some of it. Luger is hilarious in the role.
The whole time he is trying to convince Sting that he really isn't a part of the Dungeon of Doom and still the straight and arrow guy he always was only to do something dirty behind Sting's back. Like he would be hugging Jimmy Hart then when Sting entered the room suddenly he would act like he had no idea who Jimmy was, or he'd be slapping fives with fans when Sting was watching but as soon as Sting turned his back he would treat them like they were the plague. It was such good stuff.
My favorite though is when he challenged LOD to face him and Sting in a "Chicago Street fight". Of course LOD are kayfabe from the "streets of Chicago" so this is a trademark match of theirs, Sting knowing this asked Luger why he would accept this match and Luger's like "I'm from Chicago too so I can handle it", Sting then correctly points out that Lex is from the upper middle class suburbs of Chicago and not the "streets". Just a hilarious interaction.

Lex just came off like an undercover cop trying (and failing miserably) to act like a drug dealer:
"Ahem.....how do you do, fellow Faces? Boy, those Heels in WCW sure are jerks, right? I sure am glad to be a fellow Face, and not a stinky, rotten, poopie head Heel.....I am totally a Face."

@@chronovac Funny enough you think with the disaster that this was they would stay clear from Monster Trucks and never have anything to do with them again. But back when I was a young kid I used to watch Monster Jam all the time which if similar to Nascar or anything like that where they had legit competitions like races and freestyle and kept standings and had world championships. But this was far from the last time they got involved in the sport. As back in the late 90's and early 00's they had a bunch of monster trucks which I owned all the toys for. They had an NWO truck. They also had a Monday Night Nitro one they had 2 for actual talent one for Sting and another for Goldberg which the Goldberg truck actually had the best driver in the world at the time behind the wheel. And then the coolest thing was Medusa had a monster truck which she was the actual driver for it. And she has been driving it for pretty much two decades now. Not sure what is going on with the sport as I stopped watching and not sure what they are doing with COVID and if they are still doing events for TV during this time period. But Medusa was still driving the truck as she came back in 2020 to have her farewell tour with it.

One of the underappreciated dumb things about The Yeti is the fact that they would cast somebody that is bigger than The Giant to play him. The Giant was clearly the big monster that they were planning to build their future around so why would you bring in somebody even bigger than him and bring light to that(Schiavone points out how the Yeti is bigger)? That takes all the aura away from The Giant.
You think if there was a guy bigger than Andre in his prime that VKM would've brought him in as a throwaway character and put him next to Andre? Not a chance, he either would keep that guy as far a way from Andre as possible or he would build that guy to be his next Andre. Just another dumb move my WCW that doesn't get enough attention due to how comical the rest of the situation was.

    • @Aevilbeast
      @Aevilbeast 4 года назад +5

I actually think what you described is one of the many reasons they had the whole Yeti gimmick in the first place. It was a way to use Ron Reis (the guy who played the Yeti) in a way audience wouldn't grasp on to him as an actual wrestler and wouldn't take any of the spotlight off either The Giant or Hogan. It was meant to be a very disposable gimmick from the beginning IMO. They didn't want to take the chance of him building up a fan base and diverting attention from the Giant who they were investing a ton of time, effort and money into becoming the next "big" thing, before they could "properly" introduce him with a real gimmick (which never really happened anyways) but they also figured that since they had such a huge guy might as well find something for him to do.
But in the end instead of their hamfisted solution, to their self-created problem, of trying to draw attention away to from the gigantic cluster**** that was whole Hogan/Giant feud and with the ridiculousness of Yeti, it ended bringing even more attention to the whole messed up situation.
The best analogy for it would be, a person trying to cover up dog crap, be taking a even bigger crap next to it so people will focus on that one instead of the original one. But in the end the only thing that does is to make the whole situation even shittier and make an even bigger mess for you to clean up.
(Of course, this is all just hearsay, and my thoughts on matter from a fan/viewers standpoint, so take what I say with a grain of salt as I may be completely and utterly wrong on all fronts.)

the only reason to do it, is if you want Andre/The Giant to be babyface and put him up against a monster; which was the thinking behind Undertaker/Gonazales but hopefully with two wrestlers instead of one. And the Giant and Reese would have worked, give them a few years but 98 versions of them... that might have been fun to watch if built to right.

I stopped watching the sport awhile ago though ever since Gunslinger and the driver Scott Hartsock retired as he was my favorite. Actually met almost all of the drivers from that era took pictures with them talked to them and had their autographs. As I lived about an hour away from a small dirt race track called lebanon valley speedway where every year they would have a 3 day Monster Truck event. Where they would have races and then freestyle event after it. And before and after the events the drivers would all sit down and meet with the fans.

The rather odd way you wrote that sentence almost makes it sound like you WANT the Road Warriors to be forgotten. Seriously, folks proper punctuation and even basic grammar knowledge can really help get your message across and be understood by more people. .
One missing comma can turn what would be a rather nice and thoughtful comment about a wrestling legend who recently passed away into sounding like the way too common random mumblings of an attention-seeking internet troll. I'm pretty sure, that is the former rather than the latter but figured I'd mention this just in case some one does misunderstand this comment and maybe hopefully prevent someone from making this same mistake in the future. Just remember, re-reading your comments before posting them and seeing if they actually make sense can save a ton of misunderstandings, frustration, and misguided anger.

Side note for the Monster Truck stuff, there was many monster trucks with WCW Branding later on in 1999-2001 ranging from NWO, Nitro, Sting, Goldberg, and Hogan of course.
Not sure how much more advertising it did to help WCW, but definitely did help a few drivers build up to get a career going in Monster Jam and other indy shows.

The "flat tire" angle was done in GCW back in the late 70's or early 80's between the Freebirds vs Kevin Sullivan and Austin Idol, and it still worked in 1995. Remember, what's old is new again.

I remember seeing the Hulkster truck and Dungeon of Doom truck on TV in the mid 90's. The Bigfoot team had a number of trucks that were running on the PENDA Monster Truck circuit. They had the Hulkster, which became Hollywood Hogan. Then they had the Stinger truck, which became Sting. And then they had the Dungeon of Doom truck, which became The Outsiders.
Monster Jam also had a number of WCW trucks in the late 90's. There was an nWo truck, a Goldberg truck (which became Maximum Destruction), the Nitro Machine truck, a Sting truck, and of course, the Madusa truck, driven by Madusa, who was actually pretty good at racing.
WWF didn't really go into the monster trucks like WCW did, but they did have the Stone Cold Steve Austin truck. They went into drag racing more, as they had a number of Funny Cars driven by Jerry Toliver and Jim Epler in 1999-2001. Toliver drove two Stone Cold funny cars, The Rock funny car, and the XFL funny car. Jim Epler ran the Undertaker funny car, as well as the Kane funny car.
