Yo during the part about rotating the levitating half circle around the x axis I’m not sure the formula is correct. Shouldn’t it be the integral of s1^2 minus s2^2 ?
yup when he said “this is like washer method” hopefully he meant that “like” very literally because that is not washer method. i think he was just doing circle cross sections, not washer. but you’re right (r1^2 minus r2^2) times pi
23:06 shouldn’t the side for the triangle be in terms of height?? I’m not really sure how this works. Is the length for everything in terms of f(x)-g(x) and whatever area formula?
At 23:06, you're correct! The side here is whatever your top function minus bottom function is. For 24:00, the reason why I divide f(x)-g(x) by 2 is because f(x)-g(x) ives me the diameter, but I want the radius of the circle (so I can use it to find the area). The radius of a circle is always half of the diameter. Sorry if I didn't explain very well in the video, but I hope this helps!
