Well thought out! A lot of the ideas you have incorporated used to be common in clothes designed for outdoor adventures, especially for winter! It's a very common sense approach that works much better than most modern outdoor clothing. It's good to see someone returning to such practical designs.
@@tombryant6061 getting harder to find hey! I don't understand why that's so. Even when I visited Scotland and Wales I didn't see wool pants, high rise, wide waist..
@tombryant6061 I couldn't find them. Is it a military surplus, gear store? It didn't look like they make anything themselves.. maybe I'm in the wrong place. Could you comment the URL?
@@TheBeardedBushranger have you found anyone making leather bowyangs yet? I was watching Gallipoli, the 1981 movie recently. Noticed a bowyang wearer. In the early scene where they cross the desert after discovering the train carriage was unhitched. They meet a man with a camel. That man wears bowyangs. The dialogue in that scene is significant too. I series of seemingly naive questions that point to answers that not many people talk about regarding world war 1...
You seem like the man to ask about wool repairs, & I’m sure it depends on the way the wool garment was made. But what’s the best way to mend a hole? In case you may have had good luck with a certain way of doing it.
@@D-B-Cooper thankyou for this lead, I didn't know about Viyella. I see it's not in production anymore, but I'll look into a revival, if not innovation on it. I've been thinking about a 3 way blend of wool, cotton and hemp
Those pants are exciting. I had not seen the Ghurka pants nor heard of Bowyangs, but after your other video I'm pumped to try them out. Where did you get your tabi shoes? I've looked for various brands and have trouble deciding...
@@samellis7358 thanks. I got my tabis in Japan, all Japanese work wear stores sell them. I see them online, but yes, a big range to decide on. Mine are the basic cotton tabis.
Most excellent. My pants always droop, and my inseam is weirdly short for my size. The cinch, the pockets, the billow and the philosophy all resonate. Curious about ordering a pair, or curious if you'd sell a pattern for me to try out (So far I have a machine but no experience)
Hey, I still have 3 pairs left. I can definately send you a pattern, once I copy it to grid paper scaled down (I don't use computer added design software). It's a good idea to have a finished pair to follow though. I will eventually create a video series on making them too.. but all that takes me time..
@@Peakoilcompany Thank you. I'll reach out to you elsewhere, and follow for the future. I probably need more money and less belly for your current batch...
Do you ship to europe? I'm fed up with the way modern outdoor pants are designed. I've never been comfortable in them. This might be what i've been looking for.
It's absolutely a struggle! I use size 25 or 30 (smaller the number, thicker the thread) when I can get it. Otherwise, corespun poly cotton is the more commonly available, and for that I use 36.

Nice. Good wool pants are a wonderful thing. Especially full cut high rise. Functional and comfortable!

Wonderful to see how much thought has gone into these. Happy to hear the bowyang shout out as well haha

Kind of remind me WW2 British winter pants. Look into Viyella for undergarments if you are not familiar.
