As a video editor this worried me until I realized that there’s no way this promo video itself was made with AI, so clearly Google doesn’t believe in this product enough to let it speak for itself.
Also the fact that the average Google app lasts 2-3 years before they give up on it entirely
I don't think it's an AI tool, I think it's a Google Docs version of iMovie or the late Windows Movie Maker. I think. This vid's not very clear on that.

Interesting. Now I'm curious how this fits into the new AI rules RUclips just laid out? They haven't said creators would be dinged for "creating" all AI generated content but wonder how it works if I use this tool to "create" a video then upload it to RUclips? Why is that the standard?
I work as a motion and mutlimedia designer. These videos are crafted with care multiple storyboards and probably by a team with feedback going back and forth. This video or explanation videos in general have real passion and work into them that AI can only mimic only a fraction. It will be able to produce something very basic in 5-10 years but I highly doubt it will achieve greatness in storytelling, design, sound effects and motion.
Because the essence of video editing is what you mentioned at the end, thanks for net letting me down as I am learning video editing 🤌🏻❤️@@usimortis1940
@@innerDialecticBecause Apple and Samsung do this all the time. Apple uses Final Cut for their videos, Samsung partners with Adobe, Apple uses Keynote for their WWDC presentations, and so on. Samsung and Apple can fully run their companies on just their own hardware/software or those of their partners. Google couldn't, so they are disingenuous as a company. You couldn't edit this video on a ChromeOS machine, they don't use Google Slides for their I/O presentations, and most of their developers have macOS computers. They are a corporation that doesn't use the very products they sell.
I don't think this app will die so soon as people say. It will probably be used a lot in schools as it looks like a Google Slides 2.0
considering the business/education focus this video has, vids 100% seems like something that could've been integrated into slides, kind of like the features canva has, instead of its own standalone service that will probably get buried in a year or two. and mind you, google is still developing another video editor at the same time called youtube create so I'm even less optimistic

The fact its in Drive makes me feel like its not going to die in 3 years.

This quite honestly sounds like it would be good for stuff like drawing up visual aids for notes, pre-vis, work presentations, concepts, that sort of thing. For actual creative work, as good as it is, I would still feel much more comfortable entrusting the task to a real human, or a team composed of real humans.

I think this may be better for business meetings, emails, and training rather than youtube videos. I'm not going to blame people using whatever tools they'd like to use for creation, but I see that the application for this would need to be pushed by google towards business specifically if this feature were to stay alive.
I remember a “Google Video” back in the mid aughts. It eventually sunsetted after Google bought RUclips. Ah, the “Don’t be Evil” days.

The fact people are already meme-ing over Google Vids' eventual death *on the day of release* is astounding.
Meanwhile, Google Music and Podcasts were shut down, replaced with the vastly inferior YT music.
youtube music is good, its synced with youtube and it has a lot of songs, any song is just there, there's more than on spotify and its less buggy. The only issue is that you need to pay in order to be able to really use it. Imo if you dont wanna pay use spotify if you're willing to pay YT music which comes when you buy youtube premium so you also get a few other things here

@@Kant3n yeah, maybe not Avid. But that's mostly hollywood these days. For marketing spots like this though? Businesses will use any excuse to cut corners including using google movie maker to replace actual animators, even at the cost of quality.

AI watching videos made by other AI to learn how human thinks and behave, sounds like a good plan
Google Video was a free video hosting service, originally launched by Google on January 25, 2005.
Initially focused on searching TV program transcripts, it soon evolved to allow hosting video clips on Google servers and embedding onto other websites, akin to RUclips.
With Google's acquisition of RUclips, new video uploads ceased in 2009, and the service was ultimately shut down on August 20, 2012.
