Great lesson and love your teaching style and videos. That would also be a great big solo/fill to set up a horn shot on the upbeat of 4.

Absolutely! You can move it around to any beat really. Glad you liked it!

Tim you introduced me to Funch and Lauritsen cymbals! Thank you and I love them both!! I have 4 of them between the 2 and will get more too. I have a little bit of a cymbal addiction. Love your stuff man!!

That was cool. I practice that and work it into my playing. Thanks for sharing as I have not really worked with diddle-diddles since high school.

That sounds killer man! The easiest and best rudiment to crush. Now do LH leads 🤣
What like about this rudiment is that when you separate the hands to the ride and the snare, the lead hand plays a jazz swing pattern, it lends to come cool comping stuff And is helpful when drilling LH lead.

Hey Tim, great lesson! Just a quick question - is there a difference between hitting a china/crash with a bottom up motion like you did here vs the usual top down one?

Not at all. It is just a visual thing that a lot of big band drummers use. Check out Jeff Hamilton, he uses it all the time.

Hi Tim... nice drum fill to get around the drum set.
When playing the 2 bars of time before the fill, I notice that you play the Ride cymbal to beat 4 then begin the fill on beat 1 of the next bar. Could the "and" of 4 be played as a pick-up by a left hand on the snare drum ... leading into the Paradiddle-diddle?
