  • Norfolk Pine is a great plant for the holidays. But it can also add a lush feel to any room all year long.

    I bought mine a tiny little plant at Costco in 2004 at Christmas. Placed him near a bright window where he stayed for 18 yrs then all of a sudden he decided he no longer wants to be there and was getting some brown on the edges so I put him in my kitchen where he gets low light and he is so happy there. He is almost 20yrs old.

    Locals here in the US buy these trees as miniature Christmas trees, I take them off their hands when they are thrown out. I tell people I run a Norfolk Pine rescue, my wife says I have a problem.

      I would take them too if I found them in the trash. They make beautiful indoor plants.

    I bought mine back in 2018 and it's over 6 feet tall. Little to say, it's taking over my dining room and all I do is: Put it in a pot big enough for it to grow, placed it in front of a south facing window, closed the vent located over it off, feed it twice a year with fertilzer sticks, water it real good twice a week, and trim any dead limbs that I notice off. I don't do anything special and it's growing like a weed after a July rain

    I want to revive one that has been left outside for too long beginning of winter. I have been worried about this one for a while now, even in fall it had browning branches and is tilting over. I might bring it home today, see if I can save it, but don't want a browning dead tree in my home..... Any tips on reviving these?

    I have been growing my NIP for a year. I pour water over the top once a day, it seems. Top soil should be moist but not soggy. SerenityGardenAviary

    I just bought one at Lowe’s this morning, it’s maybe one foot tall. Looking forward to watching it grow, but nervous about it’s humidity needs (Palm Springs is dry, even indoors). Would a humidifier be better than misting the plant, or is it not prone to rot?

    • @EnglishGardensMichigan

      Yes, a humidifier is a fantastic option. This is our number one suggestion, but not as cost effective as misting which is why we always suggest that.

    How do I prune my Island pine Safely without damaging it? Please help

    • @EnglishGardensMichigan
      @EnglishGardensMichigan  Год назад +1

      Hi, it is typically not recommended to prune a Norfolk Pine. Removing dead branches or trimming branch tips for shape is ok. But anything more than that will prevent the plant from growing in its natural symmetrical pattern.
