The official making of for this video is super cool. It takes you through the application of the prosthetics and all of the behind the scenes stuff that went into this video. I highly recommend it!
It also has english subtitles, like most/all making-ofs. Really worth the time.

In the video The Making of Keine Lust, guitarist Richard Kruspe discussed the meaning of the song and music video:
"You know, after all of these years we're full-up! Fame, success, money. We don't want to do anything anymore! Nothing! That's the idea in the song. We've returned to the starting point again. We just want to make music again. We don't want all the circus that goes with it anymore. So, we meet up again, one more time, for one more performance - just to make music together. The fact that we are fat is just symbolic for excess. It's really just about returning to the beginning.
On the one hand, they couldawouldashoulda gone with Old Suits, but on the other, the gluttony/eating disorder angle hooks into the theme of depression really well.
This is one of their big songs and a crowd favourite. It had been performed at every one of their full shows ever since it came out in 2004. It has only now just been dropped from the set list for the stadium tour since that had new songs added from the latest album
This was my introduction to Rammstein back in 2007 or 2008. My brother and I thought it was hilarious. We didn't know the band wasn't actually fat, lmao. 😂🤘

The song deals with depression. You don't feel like doing anything about it.
And when Till sings "mir ist kalt" (I'm cold), it doesn't mean that he needs a rise in temperature, but that he's already dead inside. Emotionally cold. This can also be seen in Till's disinterest in these ladies in the video.

@@Sam-pv7bd That's not true. Vice versa. They missed it all and are therefore back. And one should see that they didn't do anything for a while. That's why the fatsuits. They had become so lazy in the meantime that they now look like this and the video should look like a one-time reunion after many years.
I always felt the song was more about having lost all motivation due to overindulgence and stardom lifestyle. Natural production of dopamine/seratonin permanently shot to bits due to drugs, and so on. I guess depression fits too, but there's more to it.

This is one of my favourite Rammstein songs and I'm still wondering how they're moving around so well in the fat suits, especially Till. They always give 150% effort to everything they do, that is why I will always be a fan.
I remember when people were calling the video body shaming. But like with many Rammstein songs, you easily get confused when looking at the surface only. For me, „Mir ist kalt“ always translated to „Feeling total emptiness“.

Rammstein have the best videos in music. Their live shows are so insane, and awesome, that people hardly ever react to their videos which is a shame.

I saw the making of this video and you see them with no shirts on. Im fairly certain thats not a body double. Just great practical effects.

Really appreciate you reminding me of that feeling we had back then, when new songs came out and listening for the first time - especially Rammstein's.
Being German myself I really enjoyed how you guys appreciated my favourite German band, while being from (I assume) America -
that makes me think it's charming to know that there are other people I could have connected maybe just as well as with my old buddies from high school

the MAKING OF video is hilarious.
There was a live presentation of this song where they made it with all the prosthetics and everything. It's awesome, look for it.

And since Mat shortly mentioned Jazz, there is a official Jazz Remix by Clawfinger that was a bonus track for the Keine Lust. It's really fun, you should react to that one as well.

In last part of the song (Mir ist Kalt) you can hear a some strange sounds - it's a flamethrower, fire masks and burning coat scene which was cut from official video but remains in US version of Keine Lust clip (avaliable on youtube)
In english you would probably write it: "Kyne Loost" (like Boost, but with L and "ei" is spoken like I or y)
Definitely recommend watching the making of video, helps explain the reasoning behind the fat suits and Flakes lack thereof etc. Plus they all think the suits are hilarious so it's funny to watch 😄
I actually like the Live in Paris version more because Till sings the "Mir ist kalt" so beautifully in that. Its on spotify, "KEINE LUST - LIVE" highly recommend it

my favorite part of this video is the slight mistake Flake makes when he hits the girl with the tray (5:50) cracks me up every freaking time.
In an interview they commented that the reason for this video clip and this song was basically due to the rumors at the end of the previous album that the band was going to disappear. They found it funny to release the new album with this video, being fat and ugly and singing "keine lust" which basically means something like: "we don't feel like anything"
Flake earned his "Steven Hawking" role. He's the butt of so many on stage jokes. But they still had a few digs, like how no one helps him out of his car, and getting left behind.
I believe the word Chels was looking for was dichotomy.
This song talks about someone who's depressed and don't feel anything due to her/his weight. That person is dealing with too many emotions at the same time, but still remains frustrated. Then, Flake plays the role of an indifferent person (that's why he's ignored at the end of the video) who's feeling disappointed because his friends are fat. The entire context of this song could be more detailed, but this is brief meaning of the song to understand the video. Great reaction and Merry Christmas :)
"Snow" is probably meant to refer to cocaine... similar to how it is used in the song "Der Kommissar" by Falco.

(English) Translations are mostly crap, when it comes to poetry full of innuendos. It sounds even weird in German, if you take everything by literal approach. Their official video highlights the therein occuring aspect of passivness slapstick like. So the song shall support yourself to overcome your lethargy to finally kick the asses of those hostile superiors ("big animals") in their strive for power.

yeh I am from germany and am soon 63 and wow was I sporty then I had jiont problems with 45 had to stop aikido and so I went to power arobic great plus yes it is like in the escimo cowboys video wonderfull sights but highly respected I even sweated hard on the arobic and as much as I wanted the genes come in you can eat as less as you want you can do as much as you want the body takes over my parates where thin could eat anything but all 3 kids we got wide well I can be happy i got it to 63 and wolk hard I have about 15000 steps a day and still dont loose wiegt I dont eat so much its cruel not fair hope you had a great xmas

you gotta understand for some context of the song, but especiialy the video. Rammstein were at the peak of the (commercial) career at that point in time, but also the vain rock star life was taking its toll, the magic was gone, there were tensions in the band... they literally are "fat from success", which also makes them lifeless, not able to still derive pleasure from things they once enjoyed (i.e playing music, having money, groupies, what have you, the classic rock star life basically). Flake... well, he always catches the short stick, not only in the videos, the running gag has been extended to the live shows where he always has to put up with Tills shenanigans... poor Flake.
