I bought this G King because I saw it on Simon Pegg's wrist in Mission Impossible and I couldn't take my eyes off of it. I bought the blacked out one (GX-56BB) that you review. I can't believe such a watch was only about $150 Canadian. It's so light and comfortable. I wear it at work, biking, to the beach (I don't have to wrory about sand getting into it because it's all sealed up to be mud resistant) and sometimes just in my own clothes at the cottage and junk. I wear it to Toronto when I see this friend of mine because he says he's embarassed for me when I wear it (because of its size). I'm 6 feet 1 inches and not small and it's a great piece of kit for me. I love it. I love the screwed in buckle too and that it is solar powered. It is also commented on the most out of all of my watches (not my GWG-1000) at work and out. It's great.
@@mc50992 tnx bro. I've also read some of your replies here in the comments. Gshock better pay you up man. There's more product troubleshooting tips & tricks here, compared to the thick booklet lol. bless up

Excellent review. I just subscribed. I ordered mine this morning. It is coming from the land of the rising sun ( Japan) . I can't wait to get it. I have already named it Godzilla. It will be a long three weeks until I receive it, I'm sure I will watch your video again at least three more times before it arrives. Thanks again. Well I now have the King. I have the positive display and love it. I have worn it 24/7 for the last 10 days. This includes sleeping with it on. It is easily my favorite G-Shock. My wrist is 7.375 inches. It's a big watch but it doesn't wear big. I may never take it off.
Thanks for this awesome review update. I did not regret buying this watch and ur video helped a lot also. My only gripe is u cant turn the EL whilst changing modes. a blackout happened once and i had to fidget my flash light just to set up a timer for the generator.. God bless bro
That is definitely a frustrating design flaw. My Timexs will stay lit if you press any buttons with the light one, which makes so much sense. Hard to believe that Casio hasn't improved on this yet. The last thing you would want in the dark is for your watch to go dark when you need to know what the hell is going on lol.

Great vid. Just to clarify, the black out is NOT less expensive than the positive display. The price difference is the multiband6 atomic time feature (GXW), which is available on both displays.
Very good and simple review Simucom like usually , great watch , but on the thick side a little bit for me , for a thicker guys like you this would be great G. What about people with smaller wrists? Some baby-G review in a future?
Because of this video i think to buy the gx 56bb,but i hear from others that sometimes have the foggy problem in the screen, is that true? You have the same problem? Thanks brother 💪
Hello. I find that my g shocks with larger cases sometimes fog slightly when brought from the extreme heat (sauna or shower) to the extreme cold (Canadian winter). They always clear up for me rather quickly, which is considered normal. I'm told that if it creates larger water droplets or if it pools or doesn't go away, then it's a problem. My Rangeman fogs under these conditions also. My King has also fogged under these conditions, but only slightly. It went away rather quickly. No problemo. Even dive watches are expected to fog slightly during their ISO diver testing. The test is just whether the fog goes away in a timely manner. The worst watch I've ever had for fogging was my Luminox. I'd wear it at work, in the military, and go from a hot vehicle out into the cold and it would be unreadable for hours. It is actually how I ended up buying my first g shock. It was a Mudman and an impulse buy when my Luminox was pissing me off at work.
@@Stucknthe80z You're welcome! I just happened to have already spent a bunch of time wondering about fogging also. I hope this saves you some of the time that I've spent thinking of it. ha ha.
It can happen to any watch depending on the temperature of the original location compared to the temperature of where the watch ends up. Sometimes some residual moisture is left inside the case. I have never had it happen to mine. It's a very easy fix if it does happen. You just need to remove the caseback, dry the inside (you can use rice or even just cleaning it with some alcohol swabs and air drying), apply silicone grease to the gasket (you may need to buy a new gasket) and then reinstall the caseback. The silicone is the most important part to for the watch to have a watertight seal.
I love the GWX56, but I really don't understand why its price is so high. Today it costs more than 350 euros (more or less 350 USD). For this price (or just a little bit more), I would go for the GBDH-1000 without thinking twice... Thanks for the review!
These prices are based on hype and popularity unfortunately. There's a huge following for the G Shock King and that means higher price tag. Hopefully you can find on on the second hand market for a great deal. I sold mine for under $200USD so as long as you are patient you will find one for a good price.
I just bought a brand new base model King On ebay for $115.00 bucks and it comes with a JJay's Cow Bar and free shipping ......The King is easier to use when wearing gloves ......and I like it all black no gold and no red letters and no gold screen......Total Blackout !

If you have a GXW then it should have multiband 6. The "W" code means "waveceptor" which means atomic timekeeping. If yours doesn't have multi band 6 then I'm afraid it's a fake.
