I was the guy In the TSA mask and NARBC shirt 😂 it was AWESOME getting to meet you finally ! The only person I’ve considered my idol after since Steve Irwin !
So epic to get to meet Kenan man, wow what an amazing moment. I was the guy in the elephant hat, it was great to meet you too man! Us Knox herpers gotta stick together!
Zoo Knoxville is legitimately one of my favorite zoos in the country. It's small but the exhibits are so high quality and the education aspects are just so far above so many other zoos. They truly care about the education and exhibits.
So happy your alliance exists, such a beautiful thing you've done rescuing these amazing turtles and preserving the species in the most amazing facility, thank you so much!!!
This video was great. I love how he talked a lot about conservation of tortoises and turtles and about how they are going extinct through the pet trade and medicine. Very informative video!
Awesome episode dude. Been watching you for ages now. But this place I need to visit. Maybe when Australia allows us to travel to America soon, I just might come visit. I have a few native turtles here myself. You are actually a massive reason why I got into learning about all kinds of turtles/ reptiles, with your depth of knowledge it is very inspiring. Keep up the good work. Maybe a trip to Australia to visit some of our amazing reptiles.
Can't wait to earn my masters in marine biology so I can begin conservation and restoration efforts of the world's reefs. My son and I watch your channel all the time and he loves all the reptiles!
It is an amazing green house well worth the money and as for 1974 can't remember it as I wasn't born till 79 love watching your channel and all the turtles, tortoises and lizards and slinky
Subbed, I had heard of Camp Kenan before, but never watched a video. As someone who loves reptiles and especially rare and endangered turtles, this is exactly the content I was looking for.
We went to see u but got there to late and where soo sad!! The new arc is amazing though thanks for sharing our awesome zoo!! I would have loved a part two with the rest of the arc bc it’s amazing!!
Zoo Knoville has 'Malayan flat-shells' / 𝘕𝘰𝘵𝘰𝘤𝘩𝘦𝘭𝘺𝘴 𝘱𝘭𝘢𝘵𝘺𝘯𝘰𝘵𝘢 too, which share a common ancestor with 𝘓𝘦𝘶𝘤𝘰𝘤𝘦𝘱𝘩𝘢𝘭𝘰𝘯 𝘺𝘶𝘸𝘰𝘯𝘰𝘪. Hope they're featured in the upcoming video...
I am so glad they finally updated that area. I lived in Knoxville most of my life and the old reptile area was so bad and in fact they had a major accident or something a few years ago there where many of the snakes died overnight. Now, if you happen to be going to the Green Bay zoo (the N.E.W Zoo) let me know ahead of time.
Hi Kenan awesome video mate. Your passion for turtles & tortoises is infectious. An obvious massive respect between Michael & yourself. Awesome mate can’t wait for the next video cheers mate from down under 🦘🦘🦎
Loved this video. I don’t know the Latin names so remember to give us their regular description too. I tried lookin a couple up by guessing how to spell the Latin names... I’m not having much luck. Hahaha. I love learning from your channel. Love how u teach us in such a humble way. My interest has grown so much from watching all of your videos. I wish this one was longer!!! It was great 👍🏻
Thank you so much for sharing this information. Love watching and learning about these big and little creatures 🐢🐢🐢 I can't wait to travel again and visit Zoo Knoxville. I've learned so much from you and am looking forward to finding an organization to volunteer at.
The Turtle population is amazing🐢❤. I've become so enamored with these lil critters thanks to Kamp Kenan🐢. I never really paid much attention to turtles until I started watching reptile channels. I love the big huge tortoises as well as the cute little cherry heads. I've learned so much. I feel bad for being part of the generation that almost 🐢❤destroyed the entire population of Red Sliders. All kids from the 60s had our little tiny turtle that had a pair shell and came with that stupid plastic turtle condo complete with the little plastic] palm 🌴 tree and a can of food. Nobodies turtles lived long enough to even use up a complete can of food. From all the kids from my generation let me apologize. Nobody even heard the word "extinct" or "endangered". I hope the time and love I've given back to my environment counts for something
I love hearing that. They had a ball python at the shelter here and where force feeding it and it was literally like 4 years old. Thats a no no. And they wouldnt listen to anything we where saying to them. Love seeing people in that type of work doing the most to know what to do in odd situations with dif animals. Thanks for your work! I appreciate you greatly.
@@kyleerosee3 just a year or so ago we had to take well over 200 exotics. Over 3 hours setting up close to 200 snakes cleaning encloses and having to have a exotic vet evaluate the group. I’m proud to say only one snake bit me. I had the joy of cleaning and medicating more snakes in one day than I had ever felt with in my lifetime.
We where so jealous we got there to late to meet him!! I love the picture though it’s awesome!! Thanks for being so kind and talking with us for a minute!!
Is it just me or is the beginning of the video quite blurry fuzzy? I may be seeing things again hahaha. happy mothers day Kate and all the moms at the kamp! Omg the nursery there those babies 💕😆💕 i love themmmm
Hello captain, slinky Lego and buttercup another great video your truly an ambassador for these animals 🙏 how’s those new sandals 🩴 going, slinky loves them 🦎🩴🐢🦖🐊👍🏼🖖🏼
I live right down the road from this video and I’m so upset i didn’t go to the zoo today. I would have got to meet you and show you my reptile family 😭
Man those markings on that tortoise shell at 4:40 were just exquisite. Such a beautiful animal. It was crazy to see the difference between the 2 tortoises at 14:00. @Kenan how come the one that was coming out of the water at 14:02 had a more flat pancake like shell compared to the other tortoise right next to it??
Ugh!! I wish I knew you were going up to Knoxville! I would have loved to have met you and your family, Zoo Knoxville is my home town Zoo lol. Take care!
Love your videos watch everyday have a question though i found a baby turtle in my yard i think its a box turtle was wondering what to the eat as baby and are they aquatic?
Happy mother's day everyone

Excellent set up!
Great video! Anyone else get Gonzo vibes at 17:56?
I have used carved styrofoam painted with a water based rubberised paint with sand thrown on it for back grounds, works great for herp or fish tanks.
Awesome video.
