    this is the first thing I made in my new dutch oven! It's a staple now, the thing I love about this recipe is that because you are not making it with carrots and potatoes, you can easily make several different dishes out of the leftovers! Tacos, french dips etc! Like the others said, thank you for making the perfect video!

      That's how I do it. Just onions and garlic. Sometimes a Jalapeño cause I like spicy. Keeps it versatile. I use a big chuck roast and I'll freeze some for later use.

    In my experience, Chicken Broth with a splash of maple syrup brings a more satisfying richness to the braise! Sometimes Marjoram too. Celery and big chunks of carrots make it a more balanced dinner. Then serve over quality Buttered Egg Noodles with fresh ground black pepper. Whole Foods 365 organic extra wide egg noodles are fantastic for packaged. Don't blame me if you eat the whole thing! LOL

    I'm going to try this one with a venison roast I have, the only thing different I will have to do is put more broth in to cover the roast.. if you make a venison roast and don't have enough broth to almost cover it, it dries it rather quickly since it's so lean. Also I would love to see a video of some recipes for using leftover pot roast?! I've heard of people making pulled pork sandwiches with it but have never tried it myself. Very good video, glad I found your channel!

    A Dutch oven is almost exactly the same as a crock pot, simply take the crockery pot out of the electric kettle and use it in your oven instead.
    Crock pots tend to merely steam foods, not roast them, even with the lid off they simply don't roast meat, but merely boil it.
    This is for those people who didn't know they probably already have a Dutch oven.
    A pot roast should never to be confused with an electric crock potted one. (even if you like them).

    I going to try this with a "camp" style dutch oven and real charcoal.......even though I have the enameled type (and love to cook in it) I just like to get outside and make fires. Harder to control the temp, but I think I can get by with six or eight coals on the bottom and a ring of charcoal on top..........my Lodge number 10 should be just the right size.

    • @BarbaraKelley347
      @BarbaraKelley347 2 года назад

      Never use any type of vegetable oil. Nasty stuff. However you can use avocado oil, olive oil or coconut oil. With this pot roast I will use coconut oil to brown the meat and sauté the onions. Coconut oil has virtually no flavor and can be used with high heat. (Bonus- I use coconut oil on my face at night. I don’t spend money on expensive creams that are full of stuff you would never eat. It’s also great for burns or any other type of skin ailment and dry skin)
