I had to laugh a little when he said "imagine if a corporation controlled a third of America and the people had no say." That's actually the reality we live in. The concept of regulations is a joke when the lobby groups fund the campaigns for the officials and the administration is entirely composed of industry representatives.

You read my mind! I was thinking, "Man, I wish I could tell this guy that that's how it is mainland too!" Americans don't want the over abundance of military installations everywhere either. We have no say and people don't want to do what it would take to end this.

@@Dommommy People don't even seem to know how to fix the problems, but at the same time it's easier to stay comfortable than really think about it. It's like a little kid that's scared there's a monster in the shadows so they do everything in their power to not look directly at it. They'd rather just keep voting and expecting it to finally actually change something.

@@mikaelgaiason688 I have a few ideas but people aren't hungry or uncomfortable enough yet. We still have our phones and illusions. Take that little bit away and people will be ready. Marines have recently been activated domestically. They're gearing up for something but what.

@@Dommommy lol it would actually be pretty funny if the whole internet went down. People would lose their minds and it would be like a zombie apocalypse movie within 3.7 minutes. The Marines are always activated though, my little brother was enlisted a few years ago. The military as a whole has viewed the entire population as the biggest threat for a while now, but the Guard has more than enough firepower to handle us on their own. The Marines are probably just getting ready to respond to whatever false flag sticks in the Middle East or Venezuela or wherever.

I was born and raised in Guam...The "Majority" of People who live there want to remain with the U.S,while it's a small minority like Mr Bevaqua that supports Independence.
Guam is not Singapore to make it on it's own as an Independent Nation....Remaining with the U.S has brought many benefits/advantages not only to Guam, but also to the Northern Mariana Islands..Why give all that up??? especially when many people in other countries around the World do whatever they can to come to the United States and to become U.S Citizens.
Remaining with the U.S is the best option for Guam and The Northern Mariana Islands....Just look at former U.S Possessions that choose Independence to give you an idea of the outcome of Independence.
God Bless Guam,The Northern Mariana Islands, and The USA.

No doubt a large part of the economy of Guam depends on American military base presence. It's tragic that the U.S. prevents the people of Guam from looking for ways to free that dependence by, say, having some control over tourism to Guam, which they don't. It's an economic prison for sure.

If they cant get equal rights as American citizens then they should be independent country. It would be a tourist destination for Asia for sure.

I know Guam well but not in the last 20 years. I totally get and respect what this man says. I always thought the bases on Guam and the military partnership is what made Guam kind of neat. Man, if we pull out of Guam, all we would need is for China to move right in. Especially now. Guam is strategic. Been a U.S. territory since the late 1800s. Kind of hard to pull out of that. Same with other island bases like Kwajelein Atoll, and others you've never heard about. I don't see the Guamanians becoming independent. They are way better off than surrounding islands economically. And many join the military. They like that relationship. Very patriotic Americans. Unless they want to go back to being a cash crop society. Or leave their future and economy to corrupted officials and politicians and in the end have beans. Just don't see that. But the ones wanting independence I can see their view but I bet they are in the minority. Best bet is to gain a better voice in getting compensated for land taken for military use. Guamanians can come and work in the United States. They have free flow. Touchy subject.

You better believe that if the US offered Guam statehood it was for some benefit and agenda of the US government and not the people of Guam. They won't even let Puerto Rico become a state. My question is, what's the government to gain from Guam becoming a state? Figure that out and you'll have their true agenda. We all know, whether we'll admit it or not, the government won't just offer a territory the chance of statehood because they're feeling sorry for them. It doesn't take a genius to figure it out.

You mentioned Chinese tourists for the benefits of the island in terms of economy, but you should be concerned that the possible boom of Chinese tourists coming to Guam could highly make the island into more difficult situations because their manners are notorious in existing tourist destinations and more seriously, the Chinese government may anytime order the ban of tourism if Guam shows no sign of favor towards China. You think Chinese tourists would make great contributions to the independent economy of the island but it's rather naive. Don't repeat or follow the same failure.

Guam is part of the American invasion of Spanish naval territories.Due to a ship exploding that was blamed upon Spain without proof. Thus America went all around the world grabbing up Spanish territories . Over an exploding boiler on a single ship. Near the end of the 1890's . Basically all these territories except for the Philippines just traded one occupier for another . Philippine people where just more aggressive that is why they are free today Guam should compare themselves to How Philippines became free.

I would rather make them a state then give them independence for strategic purposes for our military. We dont gotta bomb people but its nice to have a base out there.
Not warmonger i just see no reason to suddenly say bye when niether guam or the us have issues id rather make the relationship be as close as possible and just make them a state so they get our rights and the right to vote.
And realisticly the us government is not gonna give up guam anytime soon the people of guam should know that. Its pretty impratical to not take stateship if you have no discernable way to get independence as in the video a third of that island are us military bases good luck with your revolution.

Why on earth would you deny statship your already apart of the usa my aswell get the benefits to because there already gonna get the negatives for example which i doubt would happen.
If a war would break out between china and the us guam would be attack as if it was a USA. They would be affected by blockades as well etc they would still be a defacto us state in war times.
