  • After 22 weeks of hard training, including relocation to the Lake District and other challenges, the Ultra Marathon is finally here! 100KM or 62 Miles stands between Erin and I, and glory! Kendal to Lakeside and then back to Kendal through some of the most stunning scenery I've ever seen.
    This is the hardest thing I have ever done (even harder than living with Tom!!). I have put in so much effort because I wanted to raise money for the Cambridge Rape Crisis Centre. Please see previous videos for info on the incredible work they do and how they support people in their time of crisis.
    If you would like to donate it is not too late. Please follow this link and donate whatever you can. Even a pound is not too little. Every pound helps.

    Thank you so much for joining me and Erin on Our adventure. I am looking forward to the next one already!

      Thanks Mike! Haha I’m not sure although I do have some ideas lol. I deffo want to do more ultras. With time and finances it would be like one or two a year but i want to do more.
      I do have a couple as like bucket list ones but in a few years when I have more experience. I want to do the Cumbria way ultra which is 74 miles continuously so maybe in a couple years for that. And the ultimate would be cape wrath ultra that’s like 250 miles over Scottish highland in 8 days. So that’s like a good few years if I ever get to that point
      For now I just need to get back running the trails and keep going! :)

    Well done girls. What were your lessons learnt looking back? How was your tummy on the day Marie? It seemed to be an issue for you in training.

      Thanks Phil.
      Lessons - need to keep eating. Have more options either with me or with supporters. The pit stops were great and I looked forward to the major ones that had sandwiches etc. but Tom would be like what do you want if he saw us do you want me to bring you something. I couldn’t even think what I wanted. But if he had of turned up with just options I’d probs have picked something that looked good at the time. Or carry more different options (sandwiches etc) I think I had too many similar things and when you get to the hard end you get super fussy about what you want but you don’t know what you want until it’s in front of you lol
      Actually tummy was ok as I got on top of it early with lots of Imodium lol. I don’t like to take loads all the time but race day I just use loads as one off and it seems to work lol, I did get some cramps lay on 2nd day but not too bad. Plus I also discovered mountain fuel - breakfast fuel which was great for my tummy on morning of day one when I was nervous and didn’t want to eat! It’s easy on the tummy and nice as a shake. I’ll use that more often.

      @@marierunsultra ah thats great news! I cant quite get my head around eating large burritos and sandwiches on these events. You did a lot of moaning about the elevation.. would you consider doing a different flatter, more runnable ultra in the future?

    • @marierunsultra
      @marierunsultra  2 года назад +1

      @@trailrunningphil haha yes I did. But to be honest I think I prefer it as it gives the good views and means I can walk for a bit lol. I was just being cranky cos it was hard and I was tired lol but it’s not supposed to be easy lol. I think I’d find a flat one more pressure but I’d do one with less for sure! Living near the LD now it means I’m always going uphill so I’ll get more used to it lol

    Hi Marie, I will be attempting the full challenge this year. Do you get scanned at every stop? And how fast are you able to get through the stops? Can it be done under a few minutes?

    • @marierunsultra
      @marierunsultra  Год назад

      Hi! As I remember yes you are scanned but once scanned you can be as quick as you like. Grab what you want go to the loo if needed and go. And for us there was never a Q for being scanned either.
