    I really like your setup. We moved to south west Kansas a few years ago from Denver. Best decision we have ever made. I have one bull at the moment . I've learned a lot from you and your channel. I really appreciate what you do and wouldn't mind seeing your setup in person one day and get to see the real buckin monster. Keep it up and thank you.

    This is very interesting to see. I'm wondering if there is any selection process with the dams of these calves. You could do a video on this side of the business.

    Have you entered the black calf into any futurity events David? Shit I know it’s tough to get in the money nowadays having to be 90 plus just to get a check but you really have a nice one on your hands that can definitely compete and win some money!

      Also what bloodlines does your cow herd go back to? Just curious…Plummer,Page,Kephart, Barnaby-Kish west coast genetics & such? Thanks Man

      @@justincostner8233 Sorry for the delay in replying. We don't enter any in futurity events. David likes to wait until their bodies and minds are both more mature and fit. We like to call our herd "Berry Blood." We haven't bought cows or heifers for many generations and most of those were wild sale pen culls or went back to an old watusi throw back bull David's dad bought off a neighbor 20 something years ago. They are all raised here on the ranch and flanked after weaning to pass the cull to get put in the herd. The bulls on the cows have been Berry Blood for generations, most going back to Dog Face and Skat Cat.

    Hello there sir. I'm from Arizona on the Navajo reservation. I just want to now if you are selling some two year old bulls. I want to start my own bucking bull.

  • @RICDirector

    Why isnt your dummy pulling off the flank?

  • @kathleendana
    @kathleendana 2 года назад

    What makes them buck? The rope?

    • @hollyberry5673
      @hollyberry5673 2 года назад

      The flank helps some, but David bucks everything with a very loose flank. Bucking is in their blood. They want to buck or they don't. The flank won't make one buck that doesn't want to. Flanks are all soft cotton rope and where they are placed on the bull is similar to placing one around the armpits of a person.

  • @barbaragreene6592
    @barbaragreene6592 2 года назад

    Like the video n love seeing them buck, but just an idea, why don’t you tie your flank rope to your bucking dummy, so that when your dummy comes off it releases the flank rope n it comes off at the same time, with your dummy.

    • @hollyberry5673
      @hollyberry5673 2 года назад

      We figure they have to wear the flank rope until they get to the stripping chute as they get older so they wear it to the stripping chute after the dummy. David bucks everything, even at events, with a very loose flank.

    Do you take some of the younger bulls to high school rodeos to see how they do?

    • @hollyberry5673
      @hollyberry5673 2 года назад

      "Born to buck" bulls are usually not what most high school level riders need. The bulls are not proven or "housebroke" enough, so its neither fair nor "safe" for the riders or the bulls. We usually get more experienced riders to get on them the first few times here at the ranch after dummy bucking them. The better ones are kept and then go on tho higher level bull ridings.

    Please no music. The loud music distracts from what’s going on and also makes it hard to hear what the people are saying.
