Hi Andy, I believe that is your forward diesel tank. Rafiki 37's were fitted with dual black iron tanks, one fore, and one just aft midships. I had looked at one several years ago and the owner stated that the fore tank had been decommissioned due to rust (failed pressure test). Wish I'd bought that one :( Anyway, good luck! Fish out

I believe Fishead Stew is correct. Found this in a old Sailnet forum.
"Our boat (hull #37) is set up with two diesel tanks, one water tank. The tanks may be original -- at least I bet the diesel tanks are since they're black iron. I've yet to measure the exact size of our tanks, but the blueprints specs that we received with our boat (copies of the originals, direct from Stan Huntingford) show the forward diesel tank to be 35 gallons, and the aft to be 89 gallons. The single water tank (made of SS) is 198 gallons.
Interestingly, we're beginning to suspect our aft diesel tank is only about 65 gallons. Our forward tank is decommissioned due to a leak."

Hard telling Fishhead. The forward fuel tank isn't being used and I'd bet it has a leak. The aft one is usable and clean. Well sorta, nothing bad. She's not perfect but I'm proud to have her. Hope you comment often.

Go west on the Okeechobee waterway to Ft. Meyers. 65 foot bridge clearance that way. You can head south to the Keys from there. No idea on the bronze plate. Looks like a thru hull built in for a different interior layout possibly. Maybe for a speed impeller if installed.

49' is what we need just out of the marina to go west. Probably wait for the locks to open.

According to Sailboatdata, your mast is 47 feet from the deck to the top, plus antennas and such. Then add the height of the deck above the waterline. So you are looking at 51 to 52 without antennas.
