  • It’s mid-August 1944 - two and a half months after the Allied D-Day landings - and the Germans in France are in full retreat.
And after four years of Nazi occupation, young Parisians like Micheline Bood eagerly anticipate the taking back of their city from the hated enemy, and the arrival of General Charles de Gaulle, France’s exiled national leader.
As Allied armies including the Free French Forces race towards Paris, the Resistance organises an armed uprising against the city’s German garrison.
For Micheline and countless others, this is the defining moment when France can be set free and restore national pride.
Please note: this video includes a couple of sequences that some people may find upsetting.
