15 Things The MCU Changed From The Comics

- I think overall, the MCU has done a great job in adapting our favorite Marvel stories and characters in a way that works in live action. Sure, it’s not perfect and there have been some baffling decisions, but I think in general most of the big changes the MCU has made while adapting Marvel comics have been successful. But what are some of the most impactful, biggest changes the MCU made to the source material? Well that’s what I’m going to talk about today!
Sometimes Marvel makes big changes to their villains’ origins for better or for worse. I immediately think of Thanos and how in the comics, he was obsessed with impressing death. I always found it funny how the first Avengers movie hinted that he was going to keep his comic backstory, but then they changed it over the following years. Do you think things would’ve been better or worse if Thanos kept his comic motivation? That’s tough to say! What about other villains who had their motivations changed? It’s clear that Killmonger’s origins were a perfect change, but on the flip side, did you like how they made Ego the Living Planet a Celestial? And those are just character changes, but what about broader story changes like Ultron’s creation or the impact of Civil War? Do you think these changes were good ones?

For me, it’s kind of a mixed bag.

Comics can tell a deep story over the course of a year. A movie has to do it in less than 3 hours. There must be changes. Comic arcs can cover decades, humans can only be young for so long. There must be changes.

That's why I loved the Spiderman arc!!! They didn't do his origin in just his first movie, they developed it through his whole trilogy!!! It was so smart and it felt natural
I was frustrated to how lazy they were with Gorr's appearance. Some said it was hard to see facial expressions but Andy Serkis as Caesar and Smego that's a trash excuse. And others saying it was too close to looking like Voldemort, come on, they could've done so much to enhance his appearance that people wouldn't have even seen Voldemort, but they went the lazy route.
From what I read Christian Bale didn't want all that make up. It was his choice. I thought he did well.

In the comics Ego was created as an experiment by the celestials. If I remember correctly they declared him a failure
i think they go with that in the mcu but the celestials should explain that ego was an experiment but ego claimed otherwise (only if they do this or another way if they choose to fix that)
Off topic but Is Dr Strange stronger now that he has a third eye or will it affect him in a negative way??

I believe hank could’ve made ultron as an A.I.., during the winter solider movie S.H.I.E.L.D. had a data dump one of those files could have housed his program & with his comic book power of memory manipulation he could used Tony to instigate his creation/evolution.
One of my favorite changes from the comics in the MCU was Spider-Man's origins which had been done to death before many times and decide to go with a new different approach with it instead

Talking about Wanda, I think the mind stone kept chaos magic from fading as stated in in WV, but also gave her very own superpower of Psionic, the ability to use multiple psychic based powers in 1 package. Superpowers and magic r different in nature. In the Marvel movie coming, I hope we c Carol's Ms. Marvel classical outfit, the black skimpy one with the lightning bolt logo and red sash.
9:50 I think we would see young Hank Pym in the avengers and then in aou we would see him built Ultron and when he realize the mess he done he would quit and later on would give the suit to Scott Lang but idk about the wasp maybe she would die by Ultron and Hank later on would give the suit to hope (he would have a choice)
Here's what I hate about the mCu so far :
1) Gorr, a third grade villian just sat in front of Eternity like that in Love and Thunder.
2) Agatha Harkness was shown as an evil woman in W&V but she was actually a great lady and also took care of Franklin Richards.
3) The way Celestials were shown in Eternals was pathetic !
4) Mantis, who is actually very very powerful was shown as a dumb character in the Infinity War.
5) Infinity Story without Adam Warlock was bs !!
I hope they don't screw Storm (in my opinion beyond Omega mutant) and when she becomes part of MCU.

My personal head cannon in the mcu is that profesor x erased Wanda and Pedro's minds of being a mutant

The only one I really didn't jive with was Ms. Marvel's powers. I get why they changed her origin and don't mind at all, but her powers make her a completely different superhero. May well give Spider-man telekinesis and a prehensile tongue.
There were plenty of terrible decisions made in the MCU. Many of the changes were to reflect to current society and mold or foreshadow future events. If one pays close attention and is somewhat in the know, they’d recognize the certain things or messages sent to the audience.
Modern without gold age style and costume is improvement than how cringe and cheesy they were back the day well dc comic are still doing the golden age
@Thtboul the colorful costumes work on comics, not in a movie. It would make the movies look like a cosplay parade
Well said I totally agree for instance me having read all the books from 80s and 90s got a lot of things in the new Dr. Strange that my daughter who didn't read those books therefore I enjoyed the movie mire than she did.
It’s called a rhetoric. sometimes they screw up and could do better writing or could have a better opinion or goal but I believe they have good intentions

They should've use different universe number, instead of universe 616 because 616 is a main Marvel Comics Universe, but knowing MCU they've a lot changes main comics, every movie says "based by Marvel Comics" never mentioned which comics presented if it's old or new comics release 🤔
Since Kang destroyed the multiverse maybe the MCU is New 616. And old 616 was our beloved main universe

MCUs Thanos motivations were more understandable than his comic book version.
Tony never fell in love with Pepper. Pepper married Happy. Tony's only loved his friends and technology.

My version of the Dark Avengers are still villains but it’s HYDRA instead with Baron Strucker being Iron Patriot. Norman Osborn’s version of “Dark Avengers” is reinterpreted as the third version of the Thunderbolts or the “All-New, All-Different Thunderbolts” but after they’re exposed as villains the team jokingly gets called the All-New, All- Different Dark Avengers.
Another character I changed is Red Barbarian making him a great threat to characters like Nick Fury, Black Widow, Winter Soldier and the Winter Guard.
Strucker died in Age of Ultron

Considering in the comics they weren't allowed to introduce any new Mutants when the Ms Marvel story started.
There was also Marvel changing Taskmaster to be a girl

tony stark stole the ultron plans from his dad..who probably stole it from Hank Pym...the opening is still there for Hank Pym to create Ultron.
Some other changes are
1. Infinity War in the comics is actually about Adam Warlock dealing with his evil side, the Magus and the cosmic cubes. Avengers: Infinity War is actually based on Infinity Gauntlet
2. Infinity Gauntlet happens over the course of around a few weeks, not 5 years. because Thanos gets the stones within a weeks or 2, and then plays with his stones like a toy for a day, snaps his fingers, and everyone shows up a day later and stops him.
When Tony starks went through the wormhole he saw thanos That's how he knew what was coming

I didn't like the Civil War movie only because it was basically just another Avengers movie. If you read the whole story arc, that's not what it was.
The Scarlett witch and quicksilver change wasn’t something marvel wanted to do it’s something they had to do because they didn’t have the rights to mutants at the time

The animation for Ultron coming online and killing Jarvis is the same logo as Hank Pym’s corp logo. The yellow and black and the pattern in the circle.
I like how you skip over the facts of studio politics when you talked about the original Mar-Vell being the ORIGINAL Captain Marvel, and just said, "they COULDN'T do that "...smh.
What do you think Tom Holland's Spider-Man would be like if he never got any solo movies in the MCU and appeared in crossover movies like Captain America Civil War, Avengers Infinity War and Avengers Endgame thus skipping his origin story in the MCU?

Changing Thanos's motivation made him a better and kinda relatable character
Tbh I haven't read the comics but comic Thanos sounds like he's evil for the sake of being evil, while MCU Thanos feels more human
If you haven't read the comics your opinions UNINFORMED👌 and how very arrogant of you "he feels more human" what an ego trip! Thanos is a 7 foot purple alien powerful enough to destroy planets, he's the furthest thing from HUMAN!

That is definitely true. He so wanted to use the Wasp. People will say whatever they want about Joss Whedon as a person. But talent wise, as a director and a writer, he is great. Not perfect but great. And... at least he knew how to write the Hulk in their Marvel Studio projects. The way the Hulk is handled recently doesn't seem right to a lot fans.

If Tony had combined Jarvis, Friday and Veronika layered on top of getting a early restored vision to safelock the Ultron programing....they would have made that armour around earth happen
If you watch the silver surfer cartoon on disney plus you get to see beta ray bills planet highly recommend you all watch the animated series they are so good
Another possible Wanda origin they might do is say that her parents we see in a flashback that takes place in WandaVision are her adopted parents. They may tell us that she is really Magnetos child, as I’ve heard she is in the comics. The parents we see in WandaVision could be revealed to be Magneto and some other mutant in disguise.
I think their gonna bring the mutants in via some sorta portal from another universe , they will stay as refugees then she’ll find out from magneto he’s her father in another universe
Magneto is the father to scarlet witch & quicksilver......plus they should of truer to Ms. Marvel's origin. That's the reason audiences don't connect with that character
@@averycrawl4482 From what I've heard in a video it seemed like Marvel wanted Ms. Marvel (Kamala Khan) to be a mutant but when they were making the first Ms. Marvel comic Fox owned the rights to mutants so they made her an Inhuman.

I think you didn't pay attention to EGO at all. EGO clearly had the same intentions to expand the Celestial race. How did you not catch that. He's no Black sheep of the celestials.
Really what the MCU did with Thanos in real life made no sense, because Thanos didn't have to killed half of every living thing once he collected all the stones. He could had wished everything better than snapped his finger and just like that problem solved

He does not even look close like Doctor Doom. Search up "The Other, Avengers 1" and tell me he looks like him.
Thor basically has Mjolnir back at this point. So its not hard giving him Stormbreaker. But since he was worthy of Mjolnir, it only seems fair if they show it. So maybe thor and Beta Ray Bill will duke it out at first. Or maybe since Love, Gorr's daughter, has Stormbreaker, you could consider giving Beta ray bill, Jarnbjorn. Thor's axe which he used before obtaining Mjolnir.

Taskmaster, Mar Vell and countless others were done dirty for no apparent reason especially Taskmaster the worst thing marvel has done to a character in a while literally should have just created a character if they were going to change so much of the character

I would really like to see a version of the MCU about DC because the arrowverse is good but doesn't have the iconic charecters and doesn't have movies and the dceu is pretty much a mess but there is still good movies in it + peacemaker and the dcamu is perfect but I wanna see a live action version I know my comment is random but it just came to my mind so what do you think
