Jon Stewart is the reason i payed attention to politics and learned to think and question the world from my room in Afghanistan. I grew up watching him and am better for it. This man has been a mentor, made us more thoughtful and aware of the world around us. Thank you for everything, Jon! Congratulations!
I was going to say the same thing but you put it into the perfect word so I'm just going to say ... ditto . thank you John Stewart you helped form so many of my opinions on politics and I'm forever grateful
I grew up in a hardcore Fox News watching household and watching Jon on the daily show not only helped me see my family’s bullshit, but helped me keep my sanity in those times. He would highlight almost exactly what I was going through while trying to talk reason into them. How they wouldn’t believe me or hang on a single point while ignoring everything else. Without him I would have absolutely believed I was in the wrong and fell right back into the bubble. I know this sounds lame, but between Picard on TNG and Jon Stewart on TDS, I had two solid TV father figures to emulate while growing up and that, again lame I know, made all the difference for me. So, thanks Jon. You deserve this.
It's not *weak ("lame" is ableist) to acknowledge and be grateful to two men - one who played the character of a principled leader on TV, the other who wittily critiqued and called out politicians on their BS - who educated you on ethics and politics while growing up in a home with people less aware. I can relate: my father was a cop and was conservative, while I blossomed into a free-thinking musician and fine artist - things he couldn't relate to, and persecuted me for. I couldn't wait to move out after college!

Ironically, in my similar situation, (my father was a strict military kind of guy) I also became a musician. I think music breathes expression, heart and freedom of thought (Pretty much where my Alias "ThoughT" or "ThoughTMusic" came from) and it has the beautiful ability to permit even the most stubborn and stoic among us to think or see differently because of it. I'd never heard of Jon Stewart before today. I'm a West Aussie and haven't seen the US shows he has worked in and on. I stumbled across Dave Chappelles speech just prior to this and thought it was one of the best speeches I'd ever heard, honouring his long time friend and colleague. Then it auto started on Jon Stewart's acceptance speech and although I already knew he was a good man from DC, this speech blew me away. Needless to say his name is going to be in my RUclips and Google searches for some time as I attempt to catch up on all I missed. What a remarkable human being. Thanks for the comedy and the reminder of the precious times spent with good friends and that continuing with art of any kind is what matters on a daily basis. So glad I finally found you.
I am so very glad you found Mr. Jon because he is awesome and we in the US miss seeing him daily on his show. He has done a lot just like Bro Dave. May you continue to stay safe and take great care of yourself in West Aussie. #USA
He’s incredible. My “go to” guy every night for YEARS, wife and I would watch from the bed before calling it a night - laughing, sometimes crying but a genuine guy
Jon Stewart was never where I got my news. He was where I looked to make sense of the news. And he did it again with his words at the end of this speech. Well said.
I wrote a paper in my Mass Comm class in 2006-2007 at Iona College on how Stewart and Colbert as satirists were the accountability of modern news media. I agree wholeheartedly
He was where I went as well. It's interesting to watch him today and realize just how damn important he was, and yet also realize how much I've grown beyond him. And yet, even feeling/knowing I'm somewhere to the side of him now, I realize how powerful he could be today. In a lot of ways, John Oliver has taken his place, though without quite the same market penetration, I imagine. It's all just a little off, a little wrong, but Stewart, and now Oliver, were and are the only people actually pushing the public to engage in remotely meaningful efforts of defiance. Stewart was never perfect, but goddamn, he was the best.
The nod to the Arab Spring was so touching, I truly respect this man, he (American, Jew) speaks for me (Syrian, Muslim), because he calls for Freedom of Speech and Human Rights.
We need more love man. Religion isn't supposed to divide us. Just because we believe different things doesn't mean we can't show respect. Religion is supposed to be about empathy and love, no matter what you believe in. From a Christian to a Muslim, hope you have a good day.
well the pronoun police is the secret police these days...social media censorship is directly connected to the gov and the CIA (lie, steal ,cheat, murder) has its own commercial for "woke culture"..even stanford and harvard scientists got censored..totalitarianism is in neoliberal disguise these days..start addmiting that and get out of the false dilemma..yes trump bad but the blue ones also bad;) .but other than that great speech
i am Muslim, dont ever f*ck with my Jews or any true believers. zionazi's are reptilian scum pretending to be human. i stand with this guy, make him your president.
Nuance. Jon has been hosting a masterclass in this seemingly ever-shrinking discipline for so long that his students have students. The man truly gives FAR more than he's received. What an enormous empathetic heart, & a brain capable of conveying a meaningful interpretation we all benefit from. Thx Jon.

The way Jon talks about each of his family members... his wife... his children... just melts my heart. I don't think any person is perfect, but Jon Stewart comes pretty darn close.
I could listen to him talk for hours. He's brilliant and kind and ridiculously smart and the love from all his former colleagues is so palpable in that room. 'it's not the woke police, it's the secret police' is a killer line.
@SivasankaranSumathi that throwing mud at each other on the Internet is irrelevant in the bigger picture. Its fascism and autocracy eroding our society, that's the real threat to comedy.

The last 2 minutes of this speech was utterly brilliant, thought provoking and put a lot of things in perspective for a lot of people.... good on you Jon, may your tribe increase!!

His greatest gift to us imo is his successors. All those that spoke there that night. They're all pieces of jon. I imagine they'll spawn many more as well.
Seriously. This whole thing was an event to honor him and his accomplishments, and the last two minutes of his acceptance speech were dedicated to shining a light back onto the issues this country and the world are facing. I know he doesn't want to it, but as others have said, he would make an amazing president, and would likely be elected in an actual landslide, not a Trump "landslide".

It's no irony that when he say's "Democracy is under threat, authoritarians are the threat to comedy, to art, to music, to thought, to poetry, to progress" and President V Zelensky, an ex- tv actor and an ex-comedian is fighting that threat, with people dying. Slava Ukraini
I actually feel sad about watching this because it shows how fast time passes, and it reminds me about watching Jon every day when he was doing the Daily Show. One of the most important people of his generation, who has had an incredible positive impact on the world. One of the few people on mass media that you can actually, rightfully, idolize. We are all lucky that we witnessed his greatness.
So true. I really wish Jon was still present for the last administration and the current affairs happening. The next generation needs a reference point like Jon.
@@njerivirtue4355 What's Jon Stewart going to say? My replacement sucks? Especially since he is the one who chose Trevor Noah? Roy Wood, Jr. would have been a much better replacement.
He has dedicated his life to something greater than mere entertainment. He'll make you laugh, he might make you angry, he'll sometimes make you cry, but he will always encourage you to reflect and think. I never watched the Daily Show growing up (American politics wasn't really an interesting subject for a Canadian middle schooler), but his later work and investment in generating change for thousands of lives by influencing policy has been inspiring. He's pointing out to the people in power who have forgotten that there is a social contract they are obliged to uphold, that doing something merely for the optics or tax benefits isn't enough. He understands that America is run on the commodification of goods and services, but that there needs to be a recognition of morality and humanity in any decision, especially when those policies impact millions of lives. He is a voice of reason in unreasonable times, and he is not just someone I admire, but someone I aim to emulate. We should all conduct ourselves with such a moral compass as the one Jon has.

I know Jon's never going to read this, but I'm going to say it anyway. I used to watch the Daily Show every single day in my 20s, and I watched it untill he left. He taught me how to read what was going on in the world and how to separate the good and the evil, the lies and the truth through crytical thinking. That skill has helped me tremendously throughout my life, personally, socially, and professionally. All I have to say is that George Carlin was totally right: Jon is going to show us a lot, and I can't wait to see it. Thank you, Jon!
He helped me as well. I didn't put it succinctly as you did, but I had the same learning experience. I didn't have to watch national news because Mr Stewart and staff sorted it. Check out his podcast on RUclips A testament to his character was leaving the show to create an animal sanctuary with his wife. His is a life thoughtfully lived with many laughs along the way.
There were kids who cracked up other kids (and where shushed by the teacher) but there were kids who cracked up the teachers, and Jon was one of those. He's been a comedian for longer than he admits and a nice man since forever. God bless.
he retired from the daily show too early. This man took the soul of George Carlin and made it his own. From 2003 onward, I couldn't miss an episode of the daily show. It was must see tv day in and day out. This man is truly inspirational. He is my idol growing up and it has not changed one iota. The amount of talent that came from that show is staggering. The only one id put above it would be SNL and honestly, its pretty close. The biggest tragedy is that John had to wait until this year to get it. He deserved it a decade ago. Everyday I see the correspondence from the daily show like Colbert, Bee and Oliver. They are great, but no one can come close to the impact John Stewart has had on my life. This is waaaaaay overdue.
His show on apple tv is wonderful. It's long form so he can go more in depth, and he doesn't always have to try to be funny. You can find clips of it on youtube
Many of us said the same thing about his sudden retirement, but he really wanted to focus on family. He almost had a heart attack when Trump decided to run for office. A missed opportunity, yes, but like he said, politics as we knew it is over, and he wouldn't be able to play catch-up with how things eventually played out. Jon hasn't changed since i knew him since the 7th grade. He loved politics and a good debate.
That was so signature Jon Stewart. He began with dry understated humor that struck as much at himself as anything else and got us laughing so hard that we hardly notice the transition to him finishing off with an incisive commentary on society that leaves both educated but also somehow hopeful.

@@kartoffelschweinehund9007 You got a few answers but I don't think the full explanation yet. He was discussing how comedians and comedy can be an indicator of threats to society like authoritarianism. There is a phrase "canary in a coal mine" based off of canaries being used in mines, when they would die before miners it would alert the miners to dangerous gases. So the banana peel is a symbol of comedy and he combined those two associations.
Jeez, 5 minutes of Jon Stewart and he made things crystal clear - it's not the pronoun police, it's the secret police that is a threat to comedy. He needs to come back.
Phenomenal as he is- and his speech was outstanding- he's wrong about some of this. Big brother is not always an arm of the government, it's not always on the right, and at certain moments in history the audience withholds laughs not because they don't like the joke but because they're afraid of consequences. Plausible that Chappelle could engage Stewart on this point and what a dialogue that would be to listen to.
@K Caps lock isn't going to make that true. The throne isn't always that powerful. Ask anyone in Mexico who lives in fear of a cartel. Meanwhile, you think comedians are excellent bellwethers for fascism, then completely discount what a number of those comedians are saying. Twain and Stewart have even more in common than what is seen on the surface. How many people know this about Twain, that the U.S. government was even careful to suppress this about him in the teaching of history in schools: Before Afghanistan, the longest unilaterally staged conflict the U.S. was ever in was the Philippine-American War. (Most citizens haven't even heard of it.) An embarrassment of the government, Mark Twain was one of the leaders of the Anti-Imperialist Movement challenging the U.S.' involvement in that unjust conflict, and even wrote a short story about it, called "The War Prayer." When his first meager attempt at getting the story published failed, a friend asked him if he would try again to get it published. Twain's answer was something to the effect of "I cannot get it published in my lifetime; only dead men can tell the truth." It was indeed ultimately published posthumously. Stewart, like Twain, has remained an embarrassment to the U.S. government, pretty much for the same reasons. Someday in the future, a rising voice of our time will become a recipient of the Twain-Stewart Award. (A two-headed statue? Sure; why not?)

Mark Twain was an astounding man, and Jon deserved this prize more than a decade ago, but I hope that I can live long enough to see a 'Jon Stewart' prize be awarded because while Jon is a comedian he is the best satirist of our generation granted, Bassam Yousef is right there next to him. Jon mixed Satire with a genuine desire to educate and inform and while there is only one person who has really taken up the helm and been in the same league as Jon Stewart, that being John Oliver, he still largely birthed the idea that satire could be a form of journalism as well. Even the friends who have never seen Jon Stewart, and barely know who he is, have the same flickers of humor, sharpness of wit, thoughtfulness, and even political ideals that Jon talked about for nearly 16 years, his influence on me and those that I know who were influenced 2nd or 3rd hand by people like me saturates those of my age group, I play on kickball teams and I don't choose my team I get assigned to one randomly so I meet new people, everyone I have met for 3 years ( 3 'seasons' a year) and they all have Jon Stewart influence on them when politics or important events are brought up... *just want to add I am not attempting to say everyone I have met has been influenced even those who have is seen as the influence may not have been influenced it may be their own ideals, but considering how wide spread it is and how many of the indicators are present I cannot say it is simply coincidence, just as I cannot say that the influences of 9/11 aren't apparent on my generation, or the influences of the 2008 recession.* Jon was like Mark Twain in that he was the first of his kind, in that he was an expert comedian who has greatly influenced American society.

Jon Stewart not only gave us the pleasure of witnessing his genius but through his leadership ensured that we had generations of brilliant comedic voices, so it is only fitting that his Mark Twain award speech ended with him talking about how leaders should lead. Bravo Jon!
When Jon took over The Daily Show I was 22 years old. I was a young adult just finding my way and figuring out my world view. Jon put into words so much of what was floating around in my head and helped me keep perspective in what was often a scary time to be a young person. He helped me not to take myself too seriously as I formed my opinions. He taught me to question my leaders and what I should expect from them. He convinced me of the importance of doing my own research, of knowing this country’s history, and to form my ideals based on facts and not beliefs. Who would have thought that a satirical news show could do so much? He paved the way for Stephen Colbert and John Oliver who have been my comfort since I lost my “TV Boyfriend.” He wasn’t that just because his was often the last voice I heard before I fell asleep most nights, but because his perfect blend of sarcasm, intelligence, awareness and yes, handsomeness set the bar pretty high for prospective dates. He didn’t just help me figure out who I wanted to date. He helped me figure out who I wanted to BE; a responsible citizen, a REAL person who speaks out for the voiceless, who is angered by injustice and fights for what is right, and someone who uses humor not just to make people laugh, but to make them think. For all that he so deserved this award and many more! Thank you Jon!!!
A great man. He deserved this award and when it started I said “I’m not going to cry”. Then by the end I was screaming I’M NOT CRYING, YOU’RE CRYING!!! And of course this Son of a biscuit provides us with one of the best speeches about modern media that’s ever been published.
Dave Chappelle 👏🏽 Absolutely honest, heartfelt tribute to your friend. While the rest of us only know the TV, activist, supporter of First Responders Jon. It was wonderful to hear he is the same person behind the camera and YES we do want Jon to run for President 🇺🇸
John's been blowing my mind with his comedy and intellect since I was 13 watching him on the daily show where he changed the tone of comedy for generations shining a light on the dystopian path that we were heading while enlightening, entertaining, and inspiring, and simultaneously, sparking so many others to do the same. And he's still doing it. He deserves all the accolades given to him. Bravo.
the fact that Jon Stewart shouted out J. Cole's She's Mine Pts. 1 & 2 during this speech was not something I expected but it just makes me love him that much more
Jon has mastered the masters. Jon has spent no time asleep at the comedy wheel. A grind is a grind is a grind that produces his level of achievement. I got to see him 3 times when he had the daily show. He keeps the year '62 as the one I cherish too!! Love you Jon!!
@@italiannn16 Dear Sir or Madame I would kindly suggest that you'd listen carefully to Mr. Stewart’s differentiated speech, before conflating political views with the dangers of autocracy, work and success as well as economical hardship and governmental support and/or overreach. The comment above was made in the supportive spirit of doing what you love, despite success or failure. It is in no way a sentiment to troll or polarize, due to its basic human need to find something meaningful to do in life. Kind regards
@@railcatcher2 But supporting an autocracy is a political view. For instance, wanting to disarm your citizens is the first thing EVERY single dictator has ever done. He is for gun control. He is and has always been a hard left democrat. Those people believe in big government and suggest that telling people to work hard to succeed is somehow immoral. No, I won't listen to his speech. I rather listen to a sane, humble man like Ben Carson who LITERALLY went from poverty to saving lives. Of course people like Jon Stewart hate him. I wonder why??
@@italiannn16 P.S.: If Mr. Stewart is a liberal, which is defined among others as: "an advocate or adherent of liberalism especially in individual rights." I'm not quite sure how someone like that is a supporter of an autocracy. Isn't "liberal autocracy" a contradiction in terms?
I could not imagine someone better suited to this award than Jon Stewart. There have been so many times his comedy has helped make sense of the world. I love that he brought so many authors to interview instead of the typical actors all the time. Plus through the Daily Show, he helped so many other great satirists and comics get started. He brought us Colbert, Oliver, Bee, and so many others.
I was 26 in 1996 when I first went to the States for a 6 month English course. I could already express myself, understand and be understood, but it was far from decent. Watching tv at night I found this weird channel called Comedy Central, totally devoted to... comedy. It was an alien concept to a born and raised Brazilian. Among all the faces and voices I used to see on that channel, two names stuck out: George Carlin and John Stewart. I marvelled at the fact that not only could I understand what they were saying, but I was laughing my ass off. Which means I understood also the context, the culture, the customs. And soon it became clear to me that they were not telling only jokes... they were telling the truth. They were philosophers and political commentators. And I became addicted to them, to this day. I saw all their specials and read all their books, and have to thank them for opening my eyes for issues I didn't even know existed and needed my attention.
His time on the Daily Show was revolutionary and became must-see viewing. He took a silly comedy show and turned it into something that got many people interested in social issues of the day. I loved his interviews and it provided me with many books to place on my must-read list. It was sad to see him leave but towards the end you could see the events of the time were taking their toll, and it was one mass shooting too many that finally broke him. I will never forget his comments after 9/11 and trying not to break out crying. It was a tough time for everyone, whether they were directly or indirectly effected by this horrible event. It must be tough to do a programme that is essentially comical in nature and have to address some terrible events, but I think he and his great team did an admirable job. I still have mixed feelings about his replacement and wish the position was given to Stephen Colbert or Samantha Bee or a couple others who would have been outstanding successors. But both found their own unique niche. I wish I could have seen the show live-it must have been fun.
I have to disagree on the final part about his successor. Trevor Noah has been the progressive change that show needed. Since his takeover, the show has felt more multifaceted & inclusive for a more globalized generation not just White Americans & that's why it's been successful even after Stewart left. The Daily Show is still one of the most influential shows online thanks to Noah's viral videos. So I'm grateful Jon Stewart chose a worthy host who was initially underrated but proved people like you wrong & now he is 7 years deep & his iteration of the show is a success, especially to people of color like myself.
"Threats to comedy is not the fragility of woke police or fresh Prince it's the crown Prince" What a fucking quote! That's an award worthy quote in itself. It's happening right now even in biggest democracies of the world.
I shed a tear... This man has greatness in him and seeing him recognized and having an occasion to be celebrated by his friends on the very same week that saw Roe vs Wade overturned should be a reminder that America may well look like it's headed to the Handsmaid's tale, there is still greatness in this country.
Yeah nothing worse than following the Constitution and letting states decide if they want to murder children or be decent people. Let's not forget the other 2 amazing Supreme Court rulings!! Liberal hell hole cities can't stop their citizens from protecting themselves and people of faith can kneel in prayer without being fired from their jobs!! GOD BLESS AMERICA!!!
Jon Stewart, you are the reason I like comedy. You are the reason I aspire to know more before I make opinions. You are the reason I aspire to know more and then change my mind. Much love from India. Forever.
I am very proud and priveleged to say I was raised on Jon Stewarts comedy since the late 90s. The Jon Stewart show was the ultra cool David Letterman for the intellectually disenfranchised. He had all the underground rock bands on and talked about all the subjects that were so unpolitically correct at the time yet so necessary to our social intellectual conscience . Something that has fallen by the wayside of this 'woke/cancel culture. May we brave enough to encourage more like him to keep the torch burning because this politically correct darkness is becoming to much to bear.
I watched the daily show as a kid literally every day cause my dad loves Jon and everything he does. Jon's been a pretty big influence in my life. He's the heartbeat of this country and while i do selfishly miss seeing him on the daily show its good to know hes still here with us fighting the good fight. We only get a few people like Jon every generation and I truly hope his life has inspired others to rise up and speak out against cowardly leaders and brutal authoritarianism. Thank you Jon.
Comedians never surprise you for being smart. Being smart is a pre-requisite, like being a Human Being. Comedians always surprise you at how brilliant they are. The Brilliance Scale is simply endless. Well, Jon Stewart is very high up on that scale. And he still surprises us. Bravo, Jon Steward, and Thanks.
The way this guy can always take a step back and see the big picture, and at the same time see the nuance and the little things in the situation. Every time I hear him talk about anything my understanding of that thing gets elevated like ten levels. Kudos to you sir. Well deserved.
Tremendous. A man of his stature and understanding of HOW the system works, and he still has hope, still struggles against the vast tabula rasa of pre & post civil war prejudices and ignorance; it inspires us all to join in the struggle of the deterioration of the truly original American mind and spirit. Jon and all the brilliance that surrounds and envelops him KNOW what it truly means to be an American. all the others are left in the pig wallow that they hold on to as if THAT makes them American, or as if they care. Please wake up soon America; and listen to those who genuinely care.
This man deserves Noble Peace Price for his contribution to media and journalism. He was the bravest person in the media when no one else would challenge the narrative. Love you Jon!
Unfortunately as one of the side effects of a good education, I look at the world and laugh. Anger and fear having less of a grip when you laugh at it. Jon has been there to help me with that problem. Best acceptance speech I've seen this playlist!
Amazing, brilliant and insanely “on point” message at the end. Jon knows how to tie the knots to get the bow! The whole performance was top notch and he certainly deserves it. I do wish we had leaders like him representing us.

Jon Stewart was never where I got my news. He was where I looked to make sense of the news. And he did it again with his words at the end of this speech. Well said.
You remind me of the saying “We look to comedians for the truth, while looking at the powerful as the joke.”.
Bless you Dustin. You're soooooooo right
I wrote a paper in my Mass Comm class in 2006-2007 at Iona College on how Stewart and Colbert as satirists were the accountability of modern news media.

Nicely explained. I too was too naive to understand and care his political comedy until I got much older.

@@kartoffelschweinehund9007 You got a few answers but I don't think the full explanation yet. He was discussing how comedians and comedy can be an indicator of threats to society like authoritarianism. So the banana peel is a symbol of comedy and he combined those two associations.

So what you really mean is "comedians who agree with my view are excellent bellwethers."
As someone who grew up in the middle east, Jon was my first into into American and global politics. He's genuineness and soul us unmatched, He has been an inspiration for the past 12 years and for the past 5 years been deeply missed- what a world it might have been if his voice was there during 2016.

This is an award that could not have been better deserved. Jon Stewart would have been a favorite of Samuel Clemens. His embrace of joy and humanity and humor in order to cut to the bones of the truth is a very special gift that somehow he's been able to give us for a very long time, and it's magnificent that we can recognize him for it. His wit, his integrity, his humanity, his engagement, and his absurdity carried a whole bunch of us through some of the hardest times in generations, and I can think of very few people who deserve to be recognized like he does.
I wish we would do these types of celebrations for our icons BEFORE they pass so that they know how much we appreciate them. I'm sure he knows how somenof these people feel but to hear it from their mouths so millions can hear must feel great.
I agree 100% Jon is a good man the best of the best. A voice in the wilderness when there was no one else.

Isn't it wonderful how both Jon Stewart and Stephen Colbert are both very much in love with their wives? Love you guys ❤️
Just because the most celebrated part of his career was telling jokes in a seat behind a desk, doesn’t make him any less of a stand-up comedian. The man knows how to captivate, entertain, educate and make u crack up in one sentence. Few are at his level❤️

I guess you know you left this world a little better when so many people pour their heart out about your impact on them in a place he’ll likely never see. But how cool when this happens before death (sorry, John Oliver 😂)
But that’s sort of the beauty, right? To feel an uncontainable urge to say “thank you” for another’s contribution to who you’ve become.

Damn, I forgot how smart, eloquent and thoughtful Jon is.
His speech had me hardly breathing.
*just want to add I am not attempting to say everyone I have met has been influenced even those who have is seen as the influence may not have been influenced it may be their own ideals, but considering how wide spread it is and how many of the indicators are present I cannot say it is simply coincidence, just as I cannot say that the influences of 9/11 aren't apparent on my generation, or the influences of the 2008 recession.*
Jon was like Mark Twain in that he was the first of his kind, in that he was an expert comedian who has greatly influenced American society.
I'd also argue Colbert did it, as did Noah; I love them all but none are Jon.
@@stevenlucas6029 Perhaps if they did not have the likes of Jon and John I would agree with you out of hand... I will put it this way though, Jon and John are like giants 9' tall giants, Noah is like 7' tall... ... and Stephen comments on the news he doesn't attempt to educate at any point, he produces no sources except when he has to with videos and thats because he legally has to. I find Stephen Colbert hilarious and watch his show every day but I cannot say he is in the same category as the others.
@@tiny99990 Jon Stewart is gold. Stephen Colbert doesn't even write his own stuff - I find him nothing more than a boring sycophant for those who cut his paycheck. He actually repulses me. The best Daily Shows I've ever watched were when that writers' strike occurred. Many shows closed during that time, but Jon Stewart, trying to keep others working for the show in weekly paychecks, wrote the material all by himself. Those shows were the most insightful, enlightening, and even funny shows I have ever watched. No one else did what he did. He is a true man of character, native wit, searing intelligence and empathy. His family is very fortunate to have him at their helm. As goes the head of the household, so goes the family. They are blessed.
@@tiny99990 that's fair enough, but Colbert trashing the GOP on CC for as long as he did offered a lil political wisdom; mainly how their own points made, and still make, zero sense.
@@stevenlucas6029 That is true for sure, I never really saw his show when it was on the air but I have seen clips of it since and it was kinda funny, reminded me a bit of when Jordan Klepper goes to a Trump rally because they say WAAAYYY crazier stuff than anything Stephen or his writers could think up, and Jordan used to kinda pretend to be one of them, not so much anymore he is pretty blatant about how he finds their views asinine and completely and utterly ridiculous they still don't seem to notice... but still

What a great speech. John Stewart is a national treasure. 👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾
He’s just an exceptional man with true compassion and great talent!
"Threats to comedy is not the fragility of woke police or fresh Prince it's the crown Prince" What a fucking quote!
That's an award worthy quote in itself.
