- Vegeta going Ascended Super Saiyan while in his battle with cell, but of course his arrogance gets the best of him and he lets Cell go to his Perfect Form. Vegeta then tries to attack the complete Cell only to be shocked due to the fact that he is extremely stronger than him.

Alex Yeah, I was at a voice actors panel during a convention, and the lady who was speaking said she pent up the stresses of her week and just let it out during a power up scene in Fairy Tail (atleast, Im pretty sure it was Fairy Tail). Usually, the producers want multiple takes on such scenes, but in this case, they just looked fearful and didnt make her re-record.

Vegeta realizes he is horrifyingly powerful and a Super Saiyan and Goku maintains his goofiness, which slowly erodes until he witnesses the brutal death of his childhood friend and loses it. That arc is so good!

I absolutely love the first tier transformations SSJ, ASSJ, USSJ, they just had so much more value at the time, and weren't exactly overpowered due to their pros and cons, unlike Super Saiyan God or whatever.

+Tofu For me, the last good transformation was SSJ2. That was one epic, created very similar to how SSJ was-fighting an impossibly strong enemy, hints of the transformation all the time, someone dies, the person who will transform, in SSJ, Goku, SSJ2, Gohan, gets pushed over the edge. SSJ3 was meh, fusion was kinda dumb, Vegito was cool, but not anything special to me. Super Saiyan God was kinda dumb, Super Saiyan Blue is also kinda dumb, but at least it's their own power. And Super Saiyan Blue with Kaioken is an interesting concept, and it looked kinda cool. Didn't have a lot of buildup though.
Anyways, for me, SSJ2 was the last truly epic transformation.
Super Saiyan Blue is actually even more pointless than SSJ3, if that was even possible.
At least SSJ3 had a great introduction and was useful to an extent. Blue just happens with no buildup at all.

Ascended Super Saiyan: Just a stronger version of the first Super Saiyan transformation but ultimately just a bargain bin version of Super Saiyan 2.
Super Saiyan 2: The true ascension of the Super Saiyan form. Takes all the advantages of ASSJ and USSJ(Increased Power) but has none of the drawbacks (Energy Consumption, Slower Speed) all culminating in a awesome package of badassery.
ASSJ and USSJ: Brute Force. Brawn over Brains. Come at me bro. Nothing but Power.
FPSSJ and SSJ2: Mastery, Technique, and Deadly Efficiency.

Well I guess that mastered vegeta ssj 2 might be stronger than goku ssj3 but the other reason can be that vegeta was just angry because bills attacked bulma....as you would know that there is a massive increase in the power levels of an infuriated saiyan...

The way I interpeted Vegeta surpassing Goku was because of his anger, and that he BRIEFLY surpassed him. For comparison kid Gohan did exactly the same thing against Frieza on Namek, or when he busted out of Raditz's space pod. There are multiple examples of characters temporarily gaining a huge boost in power, and IMO that is also what happened with Vegeta in Battle of Gods.
Rahul Kumar SSJ 3 very impractical during combat as it requires and drains a lot of energy in order to be maintained.

+le0shadow Yes. What Gohan did was consolidate all of the power of that power up without increasing muscle mass, thus allowing him to deliver more precise blows, waste a lot less energy, and move significantly faster. That's why he was able to take out Perfect Cell with such ease.

SouLessEntity not stronger than trunks, but he probably was stronger than goku.
Goku also understands the value of training with someone, especially another saiyan. That way as both Goku and Gohan recovered from the daily beating of training, their saiyan heritage allowed both to gain strength, which allowed them to remain on par as training partners (once gohan got into the super saiyan realm).
Vegeta let trunks come with him into the time chamber, but he still trained alone (Vegeta's pride as usual). So Vegeta ran into a limitation first.
This should have been the pinnacle of DBZ power. Nothing is more awesome than Ascended Vegeta and nothing is colder than “Are you ready now? To experience a power not seen in thousands of years?”

Absolutely love this era of DBZ Where powering up affected the terrain and you could "Feel" how powerful they were through the screen, SSJ3 had the same energy, its soo epic!
bigshexxy Well a lot of the filler was really to satiate the audience while later parts of the manga were being written. The DBZ anime was being produced alongside the Dragonball manga so to keep the anime active; they added in filler while they waited for new material to work with from the manga (Even things present in the manga got extensions in the anime such as long staring contests just to make them last longer while they waited for the next part of the manga lol). :)

What really makes this scene work is 1:15, you can see Vegeta is concentrating intensely on not letting his muscle mass grow excessively. Perfect connection later when Cell says "even Vegeta figured it out," referring to the fact that pushing that form too far would only slow you down.

Vegeta and goku both 'achieved' USSJ in their time chamber visits,but trunks was the only one who used it in battle,because goku and vegeta already knew the disadvantages of the 'form' and hence,vegeta stopped transforming further before semi perfect cell,once he became ASSJ.He could have well gone beyond that to USSJ,but he was smarter than that.Cell said this to trunks,and then trunks realized that he was foolish to think he had surpassed his father,when he hadn't used USSJ on purpose

@0:30 takes me back to the moment when Vegeta powered up against Frieza (Final form) due to yellow lighting etc (Vegeta tends to get among the best looking power ups in DBZ whether or not he can win against his opponent). It has to be said that Vegeta tends to look awesome :)
That wasnt vegeta ascended super saiyan (ssj2) that was vegeta going super vegeta which is a step towards ssj2 . Its basically super saiyan 1 and a half (ssj1.5)

Neither. Vegeta did achieve USSJ. Trunks thought he was stronger because he kept powering up against Cell, but didn't realize the limitations of the form. Cell explains to him that Vegeta could have easily did the same thing, but he realized powering up further in that form would limit his mobility. Trunks did not.
Advance-S Deotic Technical Trunks and Vegeta was on the Same Level of Power, you see when Trunks goes in to fight Perfect Cell after he beat Vegeta, Trunks Assumed he found a Power Beyond what Vegeta displayed, but Cell Explained it to Trunks that Vegeta could have done the same, Funny thing is even Goku Figured out like Vegeta that this Form is Good in Power Levels but your Muscles Mess increase makes you decrease in Speed, Gohan was impressed by the Power but like Goku says it would have made them to slow in Movement with the Increase in Muscle.
