I'm being completely literal when I say that I don't think anything in the world has brought more joy to my soul than hearing Amy Jo Johnson say that she and JDF had real life crushes on each other.
Amy Jo's voice still sounds the same after all of these years. OMG !! I love her, she's so cute and bubbly.

I love how each of the actors still, so many years later, embody the rangers they represented. Austin is brash; Amy is bubbly; David is more reserved and shy; Walter is wacky and energetic. They weren't really acting, they were basically just portraying themselves.

I'm so pleased that she has gone on record and voiced her side of things, i've heard a lot of people bad mouth her but she genuinely seems like a good person and not eshamed or embarassed about anything she's done, I really hope she sees the fan's reactions to this interview and hopefully make more appearances in one way or another.

HURRAY!!!!!! Finally Amy Jo Johnson did an interview that she talks about the power rangers. This seriously made up my day. I still love her as Kimberly. I hope one day there's a reunion between the original cast because they are freaking awesome :)

Congrats on 7 years, great job!!. I always look out for any original PR casts doing whatever projects. She right on, different shows you get, different type of fan base. With PR of course you get kids, but also get the weirdos or obsessed older fans. like you would on Rangercrews/boards!! Which I think shes trying to say, with out offending anyone. Great to hear from her, hope this inspires her to do the next Morphicon.

Awesome interview. I'm just glad Amy was able to finally voice her side of the "omg she hates MMPRs/She's too good for the show" issue. She doesn't seem like she's embarrassed at all by PRs. Hope people can finally let this issue die. And Amy sounds so adorable lol
I remembered her in Susie Q, I was still a kid at the time, and I recognized her from Power Rangers and thought it was kinda funny that she wore pink for both parts.
I haven't listen to this yet but OH MY GOD!!!! How in the hell did you manage to get her for an interview!? This is the best thing that's ever happened to an fan of the show by a LONG shot!

I agree with her about the stalking part. I read on imdb that Austin St. John (Jason) had to move twice to keep crazy fans away from him and that when he was @ a local mall he once got his clothes literally ripped off of him trying to get away from fans. Being famous does come with a price.

Not only is Amy Jo beautiful and talented, she seems like such a lovely, sweet, open and down to earth person! Never imagined she would be the one farting on set!!
I saw the picture of them too. It was posted on Rangerboard I think, but I just got it confirmed from some friends who know it was the 1st Morphicon.
She isn't ashamed or dislike being recalled of her power ranger days. She doesn't mind it but she doesn't feel safe attending any cons becuase she gets fans from not only power rangers showing up but from her other film work too. Basically she become famous. The idea of a stranger being overly obsessive is what scares her and is what she mostly sees. She mention she has stalkers so maybe that's why too..
If I ever met Amy, She would not have to worry about me screaming from the top of my lungs "HEY IT'S THE PINK RANGER" Do any of you even imagine how embarrassing that would be for her. I don't blame her for being scared to death of doing at least one of these Power Morphicon conventions. I would never do something like that to her. I would behave like a mature adult. I did watch Power Rangers as a kid but I'm 25 years old now.
And BTW Flashpoint just for the record was a good show and very underrated show. Unfortunately it was never a hit in the U.S. (despite being on CBS for four of it's five seasons) Big in Canada though. Amy starred as Jules Callaghan of the Strategic Response Unit (SRU) which is based off of Toronto's Emergency Task Force.
I don't think they had anything going on, but they definitely liked each other.

Actually, Katie from Time Force did show up at either the 1st or 2nd Morphicon along with Trip (Green Time Force Ranger). However, they weren't official guests. I think they showed up last minute!

Its not that she moved on and the others have nothing to do. they all have projects , direct movies, became parmaedics , etc. jason david frank owns "jesus didnt tap", and marital arts schools. he is now a muy tai master instructor,has several black belts to many degrees and styles. hes lived his life in martial arts and loves his fans and doesnt shrink away from owning up to being a hero to many of us growing up.Amy is too.its fine if she does not want to be known as just the pink ranger.
@nopinkspandex how come everyone doesn't seem to like autin? i know apparently he had a bit of a chip but its dog eat dog in hollywood! also jdf did some mean stuff yet he's called a prankster? loved them both personally just odd is all
@nopinkspandex - Nice interview, but I was hoping they'd ask if she'd really filmed some of the rumored deleted scenes from the "Turbo" movie, like being saved from drowning by omitted scripted character Mandika the mermaid and supposedly having a romance with ex-Red Ranger Jason. Maybe the latter question could be saved next time nps interviews Austin St. John.
A friend of mine told me that his mother was the original runner up for the role of Kimberly.
I used to be a Ranger fan, I still like to watch-back now and then but meanly like to watch Panels /Power Morphicon ect. Id like to see panels of her and others like JDF,,ECT. I respect her for not going, because again it can be a scary situation in her shoes. A group of 20-30+? year olds acting like 5 year olds mostly creepy and wierd. You never know who might be decent or creepos. Sadly wierdos & Creepos develop more in this type of show. after being on Rangercrew and Rangerboards I agree!!
And there will probably never be a reunion with the original cast now...because Thuy (Trini) passed away in 2001...

I don't know if "keeping themselves a celebrity" is it - They're invited to come to the conventions and enjoy the fans and the work they've done in this popular series. It's the fans that keep them in the public eye. Why shouldn't they enjoy the experience.
i think in the next series after mega force they should do the pirate rangers and invite random old rangers from the old seasons cuz the pirate rangers have different former rangers appear and help out

Him more than anyone just cause most fans know his story about the falling out and publicly saying showing he did it to just get through school. I dont disagree with you. Im sure we might never know what most of the NZ season actors might think about the show, Majority of the US actors have shown support, I think you can say Taylor WF, Katie TF, Few from LS, Leo LG, and only i think 3 or so more havnt shown there faces.

I guess you dont know, publicly he was known to have only done Power Rangers to put himself through college, so kind of one of those things immediately he most likely didnt care about it. Mainly though, it is because the man is a Lawyer now and wants NOTHING to do with the show. We got this vibe always that Amy didnt want anything to do with the show , but no we learn so much why she stay clear of the PR adult Fandom.
I wonder why she said the last time she saw Austin St. John was when he left the show. Does she not remember doing a Turbo: A Power Rangers Movie?? Almost all her screen time was with him.

Yea, they filmed it in 1996, mayeb she thinks since the show cause wasnt a huge gap from her departure and his.
It is pretty interesting - we often think that people in show buisness want the spotlight and the crowd. But there are a lot of actors who just want to do what they love to do without all of the whoopla.

In her interview, she's saying she's spending a lot of time on getting her new indyfilm in motion and hasn't had time to go to the Cons. However, she does love the fans. She's also wanted to be known for more than just her role in power rangers and has had a change of heart about maybe future roles in power rangers.

Well, remember, most of them were still in school of some sort (Austin was still in high school and Thuy had just graduated). And since it was a non-union show, they couldn't get the pay that they would have liked. Money IS partially the reason those three left. There may be other reasons(the whole racism thing notwithstanding), but that's what I've heard.

I think some fans do forget that some actors do roles just for the job, to help their career or just simply for the pay, it is business at the end of the day. Not exactly a career header ether. Like some the actors say, its like a college. Plus being typecast do ruin actors careers and Power rangers ant exactly a award winning show, pertically acting!.so cant blame actors for trying to stay away from something thats cursing they're careers.

And $600 a weeks sounds like alot but not when u consider that they were working 7 days a week and 14 hrs a day at minimum for four months ... that's not enough to get by

It's because it was a non union show so unfortunately all of them got screwed..they don't get a dime to this day off of any of the toys, dvd sales, tv airings etc

Amy's smart. She's moved on. She doesn't live her life as nothing but a power ranger. The rest have nothing better to do to keep themselves a celebrity.
Steve said to me that I will never be able to get her autograph at a convention, because she refuses to do conventions. I had a team pic, and he was straightforward about it. I don't blame her, but then again, I'm not some nerdy looking nutcase who lives in 1993, either. Lol.
