Taiko Set - Powerful Shaolin Kung Fu Music (mixed by He Tian Heng)

- It is very hard to find some music that relates to martial arts as well as represents the immense energy, power and has some actual cultural background.
So I decided to do sth about that
This was my first real attempt on mixing/editing audio btw. Although the overall mastering and mixing is ok there are some parts that didn't work out so well.
I am sry for that.
Over the past few yrs I became a lot more experienced in working with audio and I am currently thinking of remaking this set.
This set includes all the top-notch Taiko-songs from NG's Audio Portal and is therefore cc-licensed.
A complete songlist can be found at the end of the Video.
I hope you enjoy it.

Since many ppl seem to have a problem with me relating a *chinese* martial art to *japanese* music I am just gonna pin my opinion on the matter:
You are definitely right in saying that Taiko originated from Japan.
But beeing a Kung Fu practitioner for 11yrs now I can safely say that
percussion based music is also related to this (and many other) martial
arts. Maybe not Taiko per se but Taiko-esque. For me these two things,
granted that they originate from different cultures, work really well
together and looking at the comments I don't seem to be the only one
thinking so.
Let me stress again, you are right Taiko is independent to Japan. So why
did I title the video the way I did?
Simply to make sure that the video reached its intended audience and
does not confuse people. Most of the time "Kung Fu music" equals
"Tai Chi music" and this is simply not what most people are looking for.
chinese armies used huge drums as psychological warfare. Not much difference between a lion dancing drum and a taiko.... drums and martial spirit go back in all cultures....great work!

Additionally, China has traditional Jiangzhou drum music which marked similarities to Taiko drum music. However, Jiangzhou drums are less known. I think Taiko works very well for Kung Fu.
you did great job by naming this video, the way you did :) thanks for uploading and getting me to training for this wushu exam :D martial arts are great, so dont let any borders stop us. we are all the same people, so let us come together and share some good times. instead of fighting for our countrys, culture or what ever, let us fight for a free and exchanging world.

for those wondering what the symbol in the video is. its the royal seal of the ryukyu kingdom. now modern day Okinawa and neighboring islands and was a vassal state for the shimazu until the meiji restoration when it was annexed.

yoga in many ways is similar to the martial art tai chi
Well, i would say yoga is Very similar to the martial arts because It is based on the movements of the Animals And the nature, Just like a few martial arts
This music is so much more powerful than I thought. I did a semi squat in the air and stayed in that same position for long periods of time. While I listened the music I thought about the grace of martial arts and how light you have to be on your feet

Ricardo Camacho I have many arts. If we talk in martial arts, I study the traditional taekwondo to develop my legs. I wish to study other arts such as karate-do and wing chun kung fu as well. I find martial arts as some sort of meditation.
But I believe there is many kind of arts in life. Meditation, tea ceremony, so on so forth. Do you study any art yourself?
Jiroubou Akamichi I do! Karate. Kyokushin and Shito-Ryu, mainly. Shotokan is very rich as well. (sorry for the delay replying)
There was a point where I was very much in love with Tae Kwon Do, but it was soon pushed aside by my love for Karate. Recently I've been looking at some Jiu-Jitsu stuff. Another art I enjoy and develop is philosophy :) I love debates.
I enjoy listening to this after my Jiu-Jitsu lessons 🥋
I listened to this and set II today. I really need this. I used to practice the martial art of Aikido until about 10 years ago I quit. I've never really been myself ever since, and I recently discovered tat the absence of at least one form of martial arts in my life is the cause of this. I guess you're now part of my journey of re-discovering myself ;-)

That's too boad. But you can't expect everyone (even family members) to have the same view on certain things but you can try to make them understand and respect your opinion.
Always look ahead and focus what's important to you - but don't forsake your family while doing so ;-)

I just finished practicing my martial art Taekwondo while listening to this music mix. It definitely allowed me to flow through my movements and techniques easier while keeping my mind calm.

You'll be glad to hear that I am planning on doing a new Taiko set next year. But this will take a while for a number of reasons:
It is really hard to find good Taiko music. Especially since I try to use cc-licensed music. But over the past years I've collected quite a few new songs.
Also I am not really a sound designer (usually I am behind the camera or in post production) so it is kind of tough for me to make a good sounding mix.
And lastly I am currently writing my bachelor thesis which pretty much consumes my whole time (plus there are some other projects currently on hold).
But I will definitely do it because it's something I am not just doing it for me or some client I am doing for all you guys.

The new Taiko Set is almost finished. I am trying to upload it within this week.
And let me tell you it's really good and really long ;-)
But unfortunately not under cc-license which means you should be careful when using it in your own projects. It is also possible (but unlikely) that it will be taken down due to copyright infringement - but we'll see.
I tried my best to research other publications using the same songs to see if they are flagged and they weren't so I am pretty sure that the new Taiko Set will stay on yt.
