I'm thinking about trying Shula's this upcoming trip. I tried Yachtsman years ago and loved it. The lobster bisque was actually more memorable to me than the steak though. But the French Onion at Shula's sounds yummy. I love it extra cheesy! That prime rib looked gorgeous!!
I always stay one or two nights at the Dolphin each WDW trip...love it! I don't eat at Shula's each trip because I can't afford it, but it is fantastic!
Great video again thank you both, thanks to the three of you actually!! Dan, an old fashioned is one of my go to drinks too. Our big Disney trip from the Uk is getting closer, would you mind listing your top 5 ‘OF’s’ locations so I can see if I can check a few off? Thanks Jamie
Topolino’s, Boathouse, La Cava (has tequila and whiskey), Toledo (the special one with Mezcal), and Citrico’s. The Enchanted Rose has been hit and miss for me, but when it’s good, it’s great (pricey though)
Hi Dan and Leslie!! Happy belated Valentine's Day to you both. Hubby and I thoroughly enjoyed our special Valentine's Day at Chef Art Smith's Homecoming!! After our delicious meal, we headed over to HS to see Fantasmic!!!! An absolute "MAGICAL" Valentine's Day!!
Love your dining reviews and podcasts! I listen to the new weekly podcast every Monday on my way into work. The info you guys provide is so helpful in planning our upcoming trip in August. We would have used your travel agency had I found you sooner. Will definitely use your agency in the future. 😊
I think this is the best restaurant on Disney world property I’ve never had a bad meal there service is always on point Disney fine dining use to be this good before the dining plan dumbed down all the on property restaurants… I suggest the character breakfast at the four seasons it’s so much better than anything on property character meal wise
Hi Dan and Leslie. Just wanted to give you an old fashioned update. Had one in Narcoosees last night and it was phenomenal, it was smooth and had a unique flavour which is why I think I liked it so much, I’d had one the night before in Dahlia with upgraded bourbon to the Disney Select Knob Creek, which was also very good but it was a standard old fashioned flavour like you’d expect, which is why the Narcoosees one seemed so good to me; look forward to your thoughts when you review there. Cheers 🥃 Jamie and Jane
Yes, the bartender said that the use of brandy along with the bourbon provides an element of the sweetness, so less syrup required, and they use rosemary instead of orange peel. As I said it worked for me, so hopefully you will think the same. Is most forgot they use one huge ice cube with Narcoosees embossed in it, which is a smart touch 😊
Hello again, apologies for bombarding you with old fashioned talk; but I couldn’t let this one go without sharing. I got made an “African Father’s Day “ old fashioned at Victoria Falls Lounge in Jambo house. It’s not on the menu, so you need to know to ask for it. Completely blew the Narcoosees one out of the water. It’s made with an orange African liqueur alongside the bourbon and they use the juice from the luxardo cherries to give a light sweetness (not too sweet which I prefer) and this colours drink almost black like coke; it was awesome; my new no.1. You gotta try it 👍🏻
Love Shula's!I think its close but the filet is better at Shula's than Yachtsman. Maybe I'm biased being a dolphins fan, but you can't go wrong at Shula's
I ate at Shula’s just before Covid hit ..the rib-eye was amazing! I agree about sides.. however the French onion soup was delicious … then the bill came 😢
You dinged them for side dishes and servers who were overly observant? The appetizers, main entrees, and dessert were fantastic, but the sides weren’t what you expected. Wow! Shula’s is 5 stars in all areas. Seems obvious to me that a new fashioned isn’t an old fashioned. And comparing Shula’s to the Yachtsman’s is like comparing Magic Kingdom to the State Fair. Not even close.
Lol, not exactly. Didn’t ding them on servers being overly observant, hence the “I’m not complaining” remark. Not sure why you’re surprised we dinged them on sides, should we ignore the bad food and only rate them on the good food? And no, they were not better than Yachtsman. It’s also not obvious that a New Fashioned isn’t an Old Fashioned when the waiter says, “It’s like an Old Fashioned”. To be 5 stars in all areas, Shula’s would need to improve for sure.
@@AddictedtotheMouse what would be a 5-star rating on service for you? You had 3 people dedicated taking care of you and each knew what the others were doing. After all of the great things you mentioned along with “I’m not complaining”, they still didn’t get 5 stars. So now the sides are “bad food”? I can see them not being as good as the entrees but were they bad? The drink menu shows the new fashioned as having Knob Creek Single Barrel Bourbon, Amaro Montenegro, Brown Sugar, Angostura Bitters, Orange Bitters, and Cherry Bitters. That doesn’t look like the ingredients I’d expect to have in an old fashioned. I wouldn’t have ordered it. In fact, when we were there I didn’t order it. The Dark Cherry Smoked Manhattan was amazing as was the filet and the sane dessert you had. I’m not trying to knock you personally and I know that each person’s experience is different. I can see lowering the overall rating for the sides. I wonder what could have been done for the service to be 5 stars?
@@SFC44E4X no worries, I’m not taking it personally, but I do want to clear up confusion with the ratings. No, the sides weren’t horrible - my question in the previous response was not meant to say that the sides qualified as bad food. They weren’t outstanding (like everything else was) and the sides are what brought down the score from a 5 for food. The ingredients of an Old Fashioned are spirits (traditionally bourbon or rye whiskey), sugar, bitters, and water. So based on that ingredient list, the amaro is the only odd thing there, which I recognized as a take on an old fashioned, not a traditional old fashioned. That said, I love takes on classic cocktails. Two of my favorite “old fashioneds” on property are takes on the traditional cocktail, one with tequila and one with mezcal. That said, it just wasn’t made super well. It was okay, but it’s gotta be way more than okay to get 5 stars. As for service, we rated them a 4.5, which is obviously well above average and they deserved it. But, if you’ve ever been to a restaurant on Disney property where the server not only gives excellent service, but is so invested in the history and story of the restaurant, it elevates the dining experience to a whole new level. For instance, at Jiko, the server told us the stories behind the decor in the restaurant and the African culture. Until a server hits that level of immersion on top of excellent service, then they just aren’t at 5 stars.
@@AddictedtotheMouse Okay. In my defense, I grew up a Miami Dolphins fan from the era that is shown on every photo in the hallway leading to the restaurant and inside the restaurant. So, they didn’t really need to tell me anything about it. But I can see how not everyone would be aware of all the Dolphin greats and their team history. At Jiko, that’s a whole different reality for me. We’ve been several times but have never had the experience you had there. Everything was still great though. Maybe I’m too easy! 🤣🤣

Wow so scary to hear about that crazy driver glad you are all safe….Happy Valentine’s Day! 💚
Thank you!
Thank you for the awesome videos! Hope you dont mind me asking....where did you get the Partners statue that is on the shelf behind you? Thanks!
It was a gift, but they got it in one of the Disney Art stores on property.
Gosh, that dessert looked amazing!!
So good!
Sounds good! I was at Trattoria al Forno the same night!

They do, but they will validate at the restaurant
I actually gasped when I saw the ice 😂

Interesting, we’ve never had that one, thanks!
What restaurant does not charge for soda ? $5 is the usual rate for WDW area
