My starter is stuck pretty much every morning. I have to grease it with some good coffee.
Watching your videos is teaching me more and more that this stuff is fixable.
I would have never thought to just take it apart and clean it.

Another great video I used to work in a Starter/ Alternator shop and have repaired tons of starters.
If my memory serves well I do think the brush end also can be removed from the starter. By the way that is a Delco- Remy brand starter. And they are very dependable. By the way check for wear in the nose that goes in the engine. That Bronze bushing can be replaced very easy. Have a blessed day.

Hey man, believe it or not I was working on an old 48 Chevy Fleetliner and could not find any info for the starter rebuild outside of a piece of paper. The starter for your tractor looks just like it. Thanks for making this video and showing how to test it. I wasn't totally sure where I could run power and ground to make it work correctly since it has the push pedal mechanism on the back for the "switch."

Go find a set of bushings for it or you'll be tearing it right back out

I have worked on a few lawn mower starters, but nothing bigger. Great tip on how to hold the brushes open. My father-in-law had a tractor just like that. Do push a rod with your foot to start it?
